So someone in LE..or with knowledge of the perimeter? I dont think someone off the street would just know that info would they?
I believe they usually do a search of a 5 mile square from the disappearance to start out.

Actually my timing is wrong. When the man posted the message it had been 53 hours since she went missing and about 46 since police became involved.
I have no idea if Sarah Ridgeway had a significant other, but law enforcement has publicly stated that they are investigating this as a stranger abduction. The family has been ruled out, and one would assume that includes anyone who was in a relationship with Jessica's mother.
And I'm sorry but I really don't understand why we are still rehashing this poor man who found the backpack :banghead: The last thread got shut down due to people speculating about innocent parties. Can y'all take a moment to review the TOS so that we can avoid getting this one closed too? Please?lease:
I'm just saying looking into everyone from who found the book bag to all other people.I think LE is doing a very good job.I have no complaints with them.
I would think it would be helpful to police to reveal WHERE she was last seen by a reliable witness (even if they don't name the witness) to help narrow it down and jog people's memories about whether they saw anything unusual in that area. Because if she was seen within a block of the friend's house, for instance, we could assume she was abducted somewhere in that block. If she was seen at Chelsea Park, somewhere between there and the friend's house.

Jessica disappeared at 8:30 AM Friday. The backpack was left prior to 1 AM Sunday morning. That means the backpack was left between 34 and 41 hours after Jessica was abducted.
A couple of people on the Westminster PD facebook page said they recognize the cross as one that's given out to members of a local parish.

Anyone else think it was weird that Animal Control just happened to be driving by the moment the workers found the remains?
Seems to me they have asked for a lot of help in the "do you know someone who... (Acts/looks/does etc) field, and very little time in the "did you SEE anything or someone..." type questions. I think they ask for what they need, and they only release info if they think it will further the investigation. So, to me, even more proof that they do have some info about the abduction that we are not privy to.

Someone posted a link last night ... something about there being a mix-up about the days.
You're quite right ... we do know that she left the house.
fascinating!
Few things? Has it been discussed if Jessica's mother had a boyfriend? We know the dad lived in Missouri and was at work and in court on that day. They ruled out the mother also. Did/does she have a boyfriend/lover?
Also the listserv message is chilling to me. Not because I think the guy did it. Just the way it's worded. Backpack with Jessica Ridgeway on it. Come and get it.
This was sent at Sunday at 1pm. The man went over 40 hours not knowing a girl was abducted just 6 miles from his house.
I know, I was thinking, "what animal control rides with the trash men"?

Hi scadder,
I can sure see how this is so troubling....How in the world could someone not know there is a child missing???!!! Almost 2 days later??!!! And so close??
(Ooooh, I'm gonna get in trouble for this) This is a MAN. Partly because of the healthcare area I work in, I've been astounded over and over how differently they prioritize things . I think women are born with a different radar, or always being aware of things on the periphery of day to day life.
:twocents:
JMO, but I think if the pack had been placed on the sidewalk in front of a young mother's house, I think she would have already known that Jessica was missing, would have known her name, would have checked out the name on the BP, and would have called 911 right away.
Unfortunately, I'm afraid that might have already been too late to help Jessica.IMO, I think the perp put the BP there to draw LE away from where the actual evidence was being left.
