It doesn't seem like it. No chemical substance was used, the guy was a bald jogger wearing green shoes and he tried to throw a male child over the fence. In the case of the 22 year old jogger, the man that attacked her was not jogging, but walking - first in one direction, then the other. He had brown hair, aged 18-30 with a baseball cap, and has since abducted and murdered a younger girl. If there was a connection, police would have made it by now ... like they have done with the 22 year old jogger.

Thanks. Last night when I read the account of the little fellow's attempted abduction, they said the man ran away down a trail between Mandalay Middle School and Semper Elementary. When I went to google images and typed in these schools an image popped up of a male teacher, thinning dark hair, 35, from Mandalay Middle School who was arrested in July of 2012 for child 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬.

Wonder if he was in jail at the time of Jessica's abduction.

I'd like to get some thoughts on this:

If the perp is a local, which it seems likely he is, and is still currently residing in or around the Westminster/Arvada area and HAS NOT fled town or left Colorado or even the US.... what does this mean? Does he want to be caught? Is that part of the plan, does he want the glory of a public arrest with cameras and a public arraignment and trial? Is he playing games and taunting LE, wanting to be close to everything, involving himself in the investigation and searches? Is this all thrilling? Is he arrogant/stupid enough to think they're not going to find him? Is he just going to stay in the area and blend in and act "normal" (as normal as a sicko like him can be) and whenever he does get caught, deny deny deny in the face of DNA evidence?

To me the two options are clear: he's either no longer in the area or he's still there (nothing gets past me). If he's fled, he probably doesn't want to get caught, wants to re-offend without LE being so quick to respond and connect him, etc. If he's still there, there are so many questions as to why he's still there. Thoughts?

for $30 I just bought a toddler tracker that has an alarm if the child gets too far away, and if you page the tracker: http://www.brickhousesecurity.com/product/toddler+tag+child+locator.do?sortby=bestSellers&from=fn.

there are also lots of others as well as GPS devices with panic buttons for older kids. although I'd hate to have to use it, wouldn't it be great of these perps discovered themselves identified by a large crowd when the child's alarm starts going off :) no where to run, nowhere to hide in that situation. there are tools to fight back, and yes, we should use them and know our own power over these perps. cell phone cameras & videos too. Can you imagine how terrified those Aurora perps are right now knowing their car was on tape and they were too? :)
as another poster likes to say "tic toc, tic toc"

they aren't fool proof but they can help, along with being highly alert and conscientious.

I actually saw a watch for kids that had gps tracking on it. I thought it was perfect for a school age child. When my kids were younger I bought them firefly phones from Cricket. It had just a few numbers on it..that you put in it and they cannot call any others etc. But I dont think the watches are so popular that an abductor or most folks would even know they exist. If I had young kids again, I would def buy them one and let them know what it was about.

I would have bought that toddler tracker in a heartbeat!! :seeya:

I think these backpacks are a wonderful idea for children.

Wouldn't this be an awesome gift to a child that walks to school?

FYI- Interesting

Thousands of sex offenders receive U.S. passports

Several of our cases showed that sex offenders left the country and moved to Mexico. According to State officials, Mexico does not have a sex offense registration system, so these offenders are likely unknown to authorities and their neighbors."
The Department of State "has indicated that it would like to study any proposed legislation to provide additional authority to deny passports to sex offenders, including constitutional, policy and practical issues that may arise in its application and use," the report said. "A State official said that the department recently began working with [the Department of Justice] to develop a procedure for tracking these convictions and a procedure to notify State of those convictions."
(snipped - read more)

Do you have a link? IMO that is an excellent idea. Especially since there are sickos who like to take child-rape "vacations" in places like Thailand and Cambodia.

I don't like that backpacks b/c they can be easily removed. if someone grabs you by it, you'll twist out of it as a first response. I like something clipped onto a shoe, or a wrist, or something. i'd prefer something that can only be removed by the parent or caretaker who has the code key.

I think when DD is older she can wear one of these. maybe they'll get smaller by then anyway

Good answers last night on this question on the last thread, so, again: do you think they're getting close to an arrest? and if so, how close? Predictions?

Next time, if your cell can take a pic of him, do it. Let him see you do it. This way, you can check your SO list and see if he is on it. If so, take that pic to LE. I don't know how we stop these guys, they get out and reoffend time and time again. There is no cure, so there should be no parole.[/quote]

BBM - IMO that statement makes a great quote!

There was one attack in 2010 with a chemical substance, another in 2012 and then Jessica. Either this person has close ties to the area, or he lives there. If he has close ties, he keeps coming back to the same area and attacking females using the same MO. I don't think that he expected police to connect him to more crimes, but I do think that he's toying with police. I think that this person has done this before and gotten away with it, so he has become more bold ... kind of "you can't catch me even if I walk into a nice neighborhood with lots of children while carrying the backpack of a missing, murdered child".

I suspect that he's still in the area; lives in the area ... if he isn't in the area, then anyone that had a visitor during these abductions needs to come forward. Someone must know who he is.

Gut instinct only, and I hope I'm wrong, but I don't feel like they're especially close. I don't think, all told, they have very much evidence other than the stuff he wanted them to find, and I still have a feeling perp is smarter than people want to believe.

(Again, I hope I'm wrong.)

My understanding was that he tried to pull the boy over the fence. In other words, tried to pick him up (by the neck) and pull him over to his side, which is why they thought he was trying to kidnap the boy, not just assault him.

That would be the drawback to this design.

As far as the child is concerned Nu.M8 is a digital watch. To locate your child, simply text “wru” from your mobile phone to Nu.M8 or click “where r you” on the Lok8u secure portal. Your child’s location is then presented as an icon on Google maps and/or the street address and postcode is displayed. In addition, parents can set unique “safe zones“ in which their child can safely play. This function is activated simply by texting “safe…” followed by a number, which represents the metre radius for your child’s safe area, to Nu.M8, or selecting a ‘safe zone’ from the

As long as your child remains in this area no alerts will be sent and you can still communicate with the device using the “wru” function. However, if they stray a priority alert will be sent to the parent’s mobile phone and computer.

Okay... is the link between the two cases a chemical one? Does LE have the "chemical smelling cloth" that attacker tried to put over the face of the 22 y.o. jogger? If so, did the autopsy of JR's remains show same chemical??? IDK
That's what I'm thinking, as well. I wonder if the reports about receipts and garbage bags were red herrings, and if LE is actually looking for individuals who purchased large quantities of these specific chemicals between May and Oct.

Regardless, there's no connection to Jessica's murder at this time. Jessica is only connected to the brown haired guy that attacked a jogger in the park.

It could be. I know there was talk amongst ourselves about a possible DNA connection too, but in any event, LE has made the connection to the Jogger case, so IMO, I do think it is likely that a rag with substance was maybe used in Jessica's case too. I previously posted about a possible link to all 3 cases (jogger, Bar case, + Jessica). If LE did find any evidence of a rag being used in Jessica's case, then that would further make me think all 3 are related. It is just too coincidental to me all these similar incidents, especially the ones with the rag.

I am thinking LE just cannot say for sure when cases are connected, until they know for 100 percent certainty because it could be used in a defense of perp if proved otherwise. So, they are very careful about that. However, I do wish they would say it is a possibility if they feel they could be related. I think they sometimes lose valuable tips when they whithold certain things.

The site says:

"What if an attacker tries to take the backpack or bag away from my child?

When worn correctly, it would be extremely difficult and time consuming for an attacker to remove the iSafe backpack or bag from a child when activated. The iSafe Backpack has an adjustable chest strap that secures the backpack around the child. The iSafe Bag should be worn with the shoulder strap crossing the user's chest. This prevents the backpack and bag from being easily taken away."

Regular backpacks have that chest strap, too, but almost no one uses them for normal wear (as opposed to hiking), because of the inconvenience of taking it off and on.

I think they probably are getting close. They KNOW he was involved with the Kettner Lake jogger and Jessica. We do not know what else they know about the perp from the jogger. She is critical to solving this crime. I hope they investigated it thoroughly when the abduction attempt happened with her. They HAVE to keep the information flowing so that the public can be vigilant and assist with providing other clues. There is a delicate balance between providing too much information so that the trial gets compromised, and giving too little information so that the crime never gets solved. I think about the Madeline McCain case... from my memories, we dealt with a lot of rumors and innuendo. It was really hard to hear anything concrete from LE. So far, I think Colorado LE are doing a good job on this case, and that is one of the other reasons I am hopeful.

Thanks. Are we basing that on the fact that they have not announced that there IS a connection, or has LE come out saying there IS NOT a connection at this time?
