Sorry to even suggest this, but could he be into necrophelia?

Arghhhhh like what we know isn't bad enough!

My head is already about to burst...I can't even wrap my brain around necro!

I've been waiting to say this, because its a story of a friend of a friend knows people, but what I've heard numerous times is that her uterus was cut out. That says sexual to me.

I was told this too.

I wonder why, it appears, that he confessed to LE without involving a lawyer.i guess since he is a minor death penalty would be off the table, but I would have thought the mother would have sought legal counsel and had a lawyer there to save son from death penalty, since she might not know for sure that he was not eligible. The mother would have had to know for sure DP is off the table in order not to seek legal advice.

Bc if DP was on table, he could have tried to negotiate to get DP off.

Poor mother! She is doing the right thing, I wonder when he told her this. If on Monday I cannot imagine she would have been able to sleep at night!

She had to turn him in to protect herself and her other child as well as countless other children. She didn't really have a choice, much like the unabombers brother - he had to turn him in.

I think you answered your own question.

I think she told him he had to tell the police and she didn't negotiate with LE because she was doing the right thing.

So sad, so, so sad.

They hadn't taken DNA from anyone under 18; it sounds like his father did not live in the area, so would not have been one of the men swabbed.

His mother must be devastated. Poor woman.

If his father has had many run-ins with the law, his DNA may be in CODIS. So if cops did (or were going to do) familial DNA searches, he could be matched by his dad's DNA.

Wow - I wonder if his mom recognized the cross and confronted him about it?

A cross worn around his neck. This is from 2009, might not be "the" cross found.

Okay am I right in thinking that for most of us, this could be our son????

This is the first time for most, that we have faced an evil killer we could easily have given birth to?

:what:

"I do not even want to address the idea of parents being complicit, because I think that is terribly, terribly unfair."

I think in some cases it's fair to give some blame to the parents and in some cases it is not. My preference is to go easy on the parents until there is information to indicate otherwise. I have a lot of sympathy right off the bat if the parents turn the perp in or urge them to turn themselves in. How many times have we seen them be accessories after the fact?

I'm pretty sure Ted Bundy had a really awful childhood. His mom was unmarried and I think very young. She later married Bundy's stepfather who adopted Ted and I think he was abusive. IIRC, his mother was an alcoholic, too.

I don't have any links, just going from my own dodgy memory.

All of you are correct. I was thinking of the video series where Bundy, in one of his moments of trying to rationalize why he was the way he was, described his childhood as 'idyllic', religous etc.

I can't link it I don't think but I believe it was the one with Dr. Dobson.

Sociopath:

Glibness and Superficial Charm

Manipulative and Conning
They never recognize the rights of others and see their self-serving behaviors as permissible. They appear to be charming, yet are covertly hostile and domineering, seeing their victim as merely an instrument to be used. They may dominate and humiliate their victims.

Grandiose Sense of Self
Feels entitled to certain things as "their right."

Pathological Lying
Has no problem lying coolly and easily and it is almost impossible for them to be truthful on a consistent basis. Can create, and get caught up in, a complex belief about their own powers and abilities. Extremely convincing and even able to pass lie detector tests.

Lack of Remorse, Shame or Guilt
A deep seated rage, which is split off and repressed, is at their core. Does not see others around them as people, but only as targets and opportunities. Instead of friends, they have victims and accomplices who end up as victims. The end always justifies the means and they let nothing stand in their way.

Shallow Emotions
When they show what seems to be warmth, joy, love and compassion it is more feigned than experienced and serves an ulterior motive. Outraged by insignificant matters, yet remaining unmoved and cold by what would upset a normal person. Since they are not genuine, neither are
Incapacity for Love

Need for Stimulation
Living on the edge. Verbal outbursts and physical punishments are normal. Promiscuity and gambling are common.

Callousness/Lack of Empathy
Unable to empathize with the pain of their victims, having only contempt for others' feelings of distress and readily taking advantage of them.

Poor Behavioral Controls/Impulsive Nature
Rage and abuse, alternating with small expressions of love and approval produce an addictive cycle for abuser and abused, as well as creating hopelessness in the victim. Believe they are all-powerful, all-knowing, entitled to every wish, no sense of personal boundaries, no concern for their impact on others.

Early Behavior Problems/Juvenile Delinquency
Usually has a history of behavioral and academic difficulties, yet "gets by" by conning others. Problems in making and keeping friends; aberrant behaviors such as cruelty to people or animals, stealing, etc.

Irresponsibility/Unreliability
Not concerned about wrecking others' lives and dreams. Oblivious or indifferent to the devastation they cause. Does not accept blame themselves, but blames others, even for acts they obviously committed.

Promiscuous Sexual Behavior/Infidelity
Promiscuity, child sexual abuse, rape and sexual acting out of all sorts.

Lack of Realistic Life Plan/Parasitic Lifestyle
Tends to move around a lot or makes all encompassing promises for the future, poor work ethic but exploits others effectively.

Criminal or Entrepreneurial Versatility. Changes their image as needed to avoid prosecution. Changes life story readily.

He doesn't fit.

Why would he confess?

I'm not sure I believe this kid when he says he strangled her in the car--makes me wonder if he's trying to minimize the horror of what he did (not that it really could be minimized).

I agree - but I guess, it would depend on where he abducted her. If he was in the middle of a neighborhood or near any area where he could be spotted, I seriously doubt he would risk strangling her in the car. It takes about 4 minutes to strangle someone - & she would be fighting him.

Could the varied victim preference/profile indicate the motive being necrophilia? Seems he was obviously a sadistic psychopath and a collector, imo.

A young serial killer in training, imo - KEMPER Edmund Emil III.

Westminster, CO to Littleton, CO - Google Maps

I had to jump from the last thread to page 9, so what has been added in info since .....I'm behind. I could be wrong, but I don't believe this was a sexually motivated crime, but do agree it's sadistic , psychopathic and now there are remains he buried around the home?...so a collector as well. This kid was in overdrive and for some reason needed constant stimulation, imo. What would cause that? Psychologically and/or physiologically?

I can't find my glasses but this cross doesn't not seem as crudely made (uneven, etc) as the one LE released to public.

Off to find my glasses.

Could it be something as simple as a computer game gone too far?

I am glad this guy is in custody. I am concerned though, especially since he is a minor and because of the gravity of the crime, that neither he nor his mother invoked the right to counsel before he apparently confessed. While it may be good in the sense that LE gets info quickly, I worry that it does open up more ground for whomever does take on this guy's defense to argue coercion, procedural failures, etc. MOO
