folks: move on from discussing Jessica's mother. We should all know the rules by now. She is considered a victim until or unless she is named a person of interest or suspect by law enforcement. If anything changes in the investigation this will be revisited.

We do not have any suspect sketch at this time nor is the #jessicaridgeway case currently connected to any existing sketch.

If not ruling out everything outside of her own home, then I think they have an idea of who is responsible - meaning, there is not someone on the loose and it must be someone she knew and perhaps went willingly with initially. I say 'initially' because I don't believe she ran away or ever had the intent to stay away.

I think it is someone within her circle of family/friends/neighbors.

But if it was anyone other than a custodial adult, it is still an abduction. That is my issue.

Those are serial killer cases. I have never seen what you described (increase in gun ownership, etc) following ONE missing child case. The Nightstalker murdered people in their houses, so I could see people buying guns, in that case.

I've seen it in other cases as well. People panic and it leads to not good things. Tell me when panic has been a good thing? Been following this stuff for awhile. Not going to get into an argument over it.

so what are your opinions on the found bag?

1. were clothes in it? if so, were they ones she was last seen in?

2. was there a cell phone in it?

3. was it placed in a deliberate location? six miles away, does she have any ties to that
location?

:twocents::twocents: My opinion is that they want the public to focus on her face. I didn't read anything into it other than that.

Jessica has a very distinct gap in her front teeth which could be very helpful in identifying her facial features even if her hair was cut or her glasses removed.

:twocents::twocents:

I noticed her ears are pierced also. I wonder if she has any scars or birthmarks?

I can't think of an instance but maybe someone else here can. Anyone ever remember an instance where the parent(s)of a kidnapped child did not speak to the media or issue a public plea for the child's return and we later heard it was under LE's advice not to? Everyone is certainly different and reacts differently to trauma, but I know that if it were my daughter that was missing, you couldn't keep me from begging whoever had her to give her back. Everything about this constantly takes me back to Somer Thompson, because now all I can picture is her mother during her pleas to get her daughter back.

Kyron Horman case.. Parents took a week (or more.. I can't remember) to come forward..

Some have mentioned that the picture of Jessica without her glasses looks significantly different than the pictures of her with them on. Specifically referring to this poster:

I think it's actually the angle of the shot (probably the only one they had of her without glasses) that makes her features look distorted. I see it with pictures of my DD-when she has a super-close up shot like the one Jessica is in, it makes the bridge of her nose look much wider than it actually is. Example:

With that in mind, I tried to photoshop Jessica's glasses out of her school picture:

It's far from perfect, but I think it gives a better representation of what her face looks like than the close-up shot :moo:

There was a link earlier in this thread to her grandmother on a morning show speaking out if I'm not mistaken.

I believe that was Jessica's paternal great grandmother in Missouri.

"The search for Ridgeway was extended to Missouri, where her father and grandmother both share a home.
"The police asked if they could search my house and I said yes because we'd do anything in the world to get her back, "Donna Moss, Jessica's grandmother. Told CBS news on Monday. "We want her back as soon as we can get her."

the mother may have been medicated and not up to being on tv... maybe shes doing what le is telling her to do?? i thought they always wanted a family member speak out for multiple reasons... idk what to think, and a 6:30 am presser? wow...glad that is 7:30 for me!

IMO, it's LE speak so as not to panic the community. In todays presser the PIO spoke at length about training kids for this type of situation and that parents should talk to their kids about it. etc etc.

Statistically a child abductor will not turn around and take another child so soon. Also statistically it could be someone known to Jessica, but not a stranger and not necessarily family.

ITA that this LE attempt at not panicking the community..this case is far from the first where we have seen LE make near identical statements to attempt at not ensuing panic.. Ive always agreed with those that believe LE should not take this route in calming their community, but rather should say there is no need for panic but do be vigilant in watching your children and others children as well..to keep aware of your surroundings and those around you and your children..especially as Salen stated earlier when we know there have been multiple attempts of abduction in this area recently..on top of Jessica now missing..

But unfortunately for whatever reasons lE go the route as weve just seen in this case..no worries, no kidnapper on the loose..which unfortunately then leads many to speculate that means Jessica wasnt even abducted or not abdu cted by someone outside the fam/friend circle.....again as salem stated this statement by LE is absurd due to the fact irregardless of Jessica's case there very much is a predator on the loose attempting to abduct our children..and you can count on his continuing to attempt to hunt and catch his prey..our chilren!

The mom may have been given legal advice to avoid appearing on camera and answering questions from the media. IMO, if she is smart, she will take that advice. There is nothing she can say to the media that can bring her daughter back. Perps that abduct children have no conscience. Best for her to leave the Q&A to LE.

Isnt she adorable! Thanks for the photoshopped pic AND for the much needed cuteness break. I can't tell you how many times I've had to log off and go hug my own daughter while reading this thread.

Per the article about searching the home...It's possible that the homeowner did not answer because he/she thought the media was at the door looking for a story. It's also possible that the person was trying to avoid the police.

I totally agree that if she was advised not to speak she should follow that advice, I just know it would be awfully hard for me. I was just wondering if anyone remembers a case where the parents didn't speak and we later found out it was at LE's direction not to....I somehow feel like maybe they have advised her not to talk. Sick as it is, I think often times these perps enjoy watching the suffering of the family.

She's darling. She reminds me of Abigail Breslin circa Little Miss Sunshine. We're praying for you, sweetie.
