I don't know much about technology (internet/searching "footprints" and cell phone pings and whatever else is out there). But I bet all those things will wind up going back to AS... (obviously)

You can see the searches another user has done on YouTube?

Yep. That's why I always log out before I watch my Debbie Gibson videos, so my friends have no idea how lame I am lol

Yes thank you. Sorry! But if I'm logged in (this is where I screwed up in what I meant) to my account and I go viewing videos, someone can look at my "recently viewed" and note what I looked at. I do think that also comes up in searches as well, but I'll google myself and see.

Are you sure other people can see your recently viewed?? I know I can see my own, but not anyone else.... Hmmm, have to look into this...

I googled myself (and I won't out who I am, some of you know) and yes, my search history comes up if I add the word "youtube" after my name. Terrific, now people know I looked at Debbie Gibson and then these documentaries on serial killers lol Oy Vey

I never knew there was a reward. How much was it? tia
No one knows how much was collected. They had just started a reward fund the Tuesday AS was arrested. People had been wanting to donate to a reward fund, but there wasn't one. That afternoon (I don't remember what time-it is probably on Facebook somewhere, but since I don't Facebook, I can never find anything, even when people tell me where it is), a reward fund was started, but nothing really became of it due to the arrest.

ETA: By George, I found something on Facebook! It was posted at 5:22 pm on October 23.

ETA: And he was arrested at 5:45pm that day.

I guess when you see just a small snip of an area, and you know what happened there you conjur up all kinds of images in your mind. I can't imagine living in that area and knowing what went on. I can't imagine no one seeing what was going on. Oh my, so sad. jmo

Oh no, I completely agree... It's hard to visualize a place if you've never been there... That's why I joined this community, I actually "happened upon it" as I myself, was trying to gather information about what happened because I have little cousins, and I grew up here, and it is all soooo close, and there wasn't a lot of info coming out. We, I, Everyone was/is very upset obviously by what happened. It's still a little surreal. It's just so devistating and scary :/

My Dad told me the other day that he was so thankful all his kids are grown because he'd have put leashes on us by now :(

I am so sorry for little Jessica and our wounded community... But I promise it's still a beautiful place :)

I see what you are saying comparing the two cases. And yes, they probably get some pranks, etc but I do believe most people who would actually call in a tip, truly believe it may have value. I am thankful for all who called in tips because the one they needed was one of them.

This is where I am getting confused. Why are some posters saying there was a specific tip to LE that led them to AS? Earlier someone posted part of an article that mentioned some woman (unidentified) may have called in a tip about knowing someone (also unidentified) and, now that AS has been arrested, some people feel this alleged "tip" led to AS's arrest.

MSM states that AS's mom called LE. I have seen nothing in MSM that states AS was arrested as a result of one specific tip out of the 9400 calls LE says they received.

IMO, this "tip" story is questionable.

Now I'm embarrassed that I didn't ask for a link before repeating what someone else had posted. It was in a post by Otto in the last thread (#20), post #948. He only said that AS had said that she was strangled while he was driving, and Otto had said that it must mean that she had strangled herself. Sorry if the information isn't accurate.

"Sigg, 17, was arrested Tuesday night in the abduction and murder of Jessica Ridgeway. He confessed to police and told officers that he took the 10-year-old girl as she was walking to school on Oct. 5 and strangled her in his vehicle."

http://denver.cbslocal.com/2012/10/25/classmates-describe-austin-sigg-as-smart-strange/

I am of the opinion that Austin has tried to minimize his criminal activity by first saying that he hogtied Jessica and then saying that she was strangled in his vehicle. I wouldn't be surprised if he has claimed that it was accidental. We'll have to wait for more details, but I don't believe for a moment that after all the planning and prior attempted abduction, that this 🤬🤬🤬🤬 addict would let his victim die in his vehicle before he had a chance to act out his fantasies.

That's what I figured out but Reddit makes it look so confusing. Reminds me of my mom trying to figure out how to google things :floorlaugh: "How does the googles work again?".

"What is a browser? Is that the Yahoo at the top?" -my mom.

No floorplan, otto, but I do know what an amazing job you can do with even a sketchy one! I do think it would help us understand the layout much better.

Here in NC, we have two types of multilevel houses: a split foyer, which has two distinct floors; the foyer has stairs going down, usually to the bedrooms & family room or garage, and the top floor which has the LR, DR, kitchen, possibly MBR or study. A split-level here has three levels. The foyer (mid-level) gives way to the LR, DR, kitchen. Go down a half-flight, and there is a family room with, often, an additional bedroom, workroom, office, etc. Go up a half flight from the mid-level, and it presents the bedrooms. These houses are usually built on lots that have an uneven layout, left to right, thereby making this type building very practical.

Thx. I'm strapped for time until tomorrow evening, but I'll give it a shot then. The more I think about it, the more I think that the home may be the crime scene where Jessica was dismembered. It was a Friday morning when she was abducted, so I can't think of too many other places where he could take her and have privacy ... and he doesn't seem the type that would want to spend a lot of time outside in almost freezing weather.

I'm confused; are you famous? I kinda came to Jessica's thread late. You don't have to say who you are, I totally get it. ;). Just wondering!

Did anyone else see the comments from a user on YouTube about RAE? If so, what are your thoughts. I clicked a link they included in a comment and it seems to be someone who is trying to tie this person to AS?

Regarding the reward, as I recall it was being offered through Crimestoppers, which means the tip has to first go to Crimestoppers to be eligible to collect a reward.

<modsnip> The road where the remains were found was closed to all but resident traffic until the end of the day Thursday or maybe sometime on Friday. In other words, it is not precisely the road where the remains were found. There were other law enforcement searches going on Thursday in other areas including around Standby (spl?) Lake area and along some roadways around there.

I personally don't think he'll ever say the full truth. Most murderers who thrill kill always hold something back to themselves. If they can't have their personal items as trophies, they will sit in prison rotting with the knowledge no one knows everything and they have full control. Control is their ultimate trophy and badge of sickness.

<modsnip>

Gary Ridgeway, Ted Bundy and Dahmer also had brushes with police that were just near misses. His DNA was collected so it seriously was going to come back on him no matter what. I think if he wasn't turned in when he had been, he would have went on a spree of offenses as a blaze of glory and given his depression (that he's stated), probably end his own life so that no one can take that from him. Pure selfishness.
