We discussed the question of whether Austin attempted to hide the remains at the open space ... since he didn't attempt to hide the backpack. I think it's quite likely that he did try to hide the remains in the culvert of a road that was not heavily used but he didn't anticipate that maintenance people would be cleaning the culverts that week. Police have said that he admitted to leaving the backpack to mislead police. Maybe he needed them on the North side of Westminster, in Superior, so he could put remains in the park South of Westminster. If so, then he did that between Saturday night and Wednesday afternoon.
He should have known that if he left some evidence North, some South, and there were two abductions in his neighborhood connected to him, that he was putting a target on his head ...
But if he had some of Jessica's body in the crawl space in his house then why leave any of it anywhere? Why not keep it all in his house? We would still probably have no idea if she was dead or alive at this point if he had done that.
