This is my thought as well. Maybe the jogger ripped it off in the struggle. DNA was recovered from the cross. It matched the DNA left on Jessica's backpack or body. LE knew the cases were connected. JMO
Whew... what a relief to have someone agree. Before I saw your reply here I was ducking. lol

If I'm right abt the jogger/cross relationship, then she is hugely responsible for arrest being made. (And can you imagine the relief she must have had when the arrest was made. She had to know that she was in danger of the perp all over again...)

She's my newest hero. Not only was she smart and brave enough to get away from attacker, but she gave one super-dooper description!!! Wow...

A description of the perp (or a vehicle used) was totally absent in little JR's case, but very much needed...

Kinda o/t - I followed that one and did not he committed suicide.

AS is a different one - that's for sure. Detachment megasize.

Re: Ryan Brunn, are you sure? There are a lot of articles saying he did, just from a quick Google search (here's one: http://www.cnn.com/2012/01/20/justice/georgia-murderer-suicide/index.html). I didn't follow the case or anything but you got me curious.

Re: AS, I haven't heard of him being on suicide watch, but he probably should be.

Ah... I immediately thought of Ryan Brunn when AS was apprehended. But his case didn't go to trial, it was a plea deal very quickly. Maybe they are already anticipating AS's trial based on his current behavior.

Oh, he did hang himself, the 🤬🤬🤬 did.

This caught my eye, from a neighbour of AS's -

:sleuth:

warning. graphic.

Last summer, their cat Chewie disappeared. They later found him cut in half :( along the footpath that runs behind their house. There's no telling what happened to the beloved family pet, but it's the type of incident that leapt to mind when they heard Jessica had been dismembered.

Bechtel told police about it.

Going out on a limb here, I'd say this would echo Jessica's injuries.

Further, the last sentence could imply this was never reported to the police at the time.

What the? :what:

If that's true, people and LE both should take these animal-harming incidents way more seriously than they do, as it would be a great way to identify potential psychopaths and perhaps help avoid this sort of horrific crime being perpetrated on another child. I can guarantee Sigg was responsible for this poor cat and probably lots of others besides.

:furious:

<snipped for space> And who would these "LE sources" be? IMO, if they're not directly involved in the case, they might just be making an assumption just like most everybody else is.

If it turns out that the "sources" are LE officers who are actively working the case, then I'll believe. <snipped for space>

I've wondered this several times in this case too. Especially when the articles are saying things like "high ranking law enforcement officers." Really? How in the world did they get to such a high rank if they can't even stop talking to the press and leaking details for a few hours? Of course they're not named so it's probably just the quasi-media outlet trying to make the story seem credible, but geez.

Ohhhhhhhhhh I am so behind here! Sorry but have been in hurricane mode all weekend preparing and just got home from work. What a wild ride, trees down everywhere and I can't believe I still have power.

One question, does anyone know when AS next court date is?

^^ according to the police via press release the cross was "discovered during the Jessica Ridgeway investigation"[/quote]
Ty, "super bee mod." I believe you tried to help "set me straight" on Oct. 26 when I shared my view pt on this. Sorry I'm being so hardheaded. lol

BBM and adding addt quote from your link:
"Westminster Police Department
For Immediate Release
Direct: (303) 658-4427 Dispatch: (303) 658-4360
Prepared by: Investigator Trevor Materasso
Case Number: 2012-16605
Subject: Jessica Ridgeway - Police Release Photograph of Cross

Date – October 19, 2012

"A cross recovered during the Jessica Ridgeway investigation could become a pivotal piece of evidence that helps authorities identify and locate Jessica’s killer. In an ongoing attempt to identify the predator responsible for the abduction and murder of Jessica Ridgeway, police are asking the public to look..."

Yes, I agree that release says "recovered during the JR investigation," but I believe it was "recovered" from the items LE probably picked up back in May when 22 y.o. jogger was attacked.

ETA: they were relooking at the old file on jogger attack

I believe it's tomorrow 10/30. And glad you're safe and have power!

Thanks nik but the power won't last! I live in the woods and I am shocked I still have it. I just have to try and catch up here between all this!

Is this where they're supposed to transfer the case to 'adult' court??

I take that back... the DA could actually charge him as an adult tomorrow... I found you a link TnVolsFan:

The charges were not read in court on Thursday, but the judge did tell Sigg he was being held in two separate cases. Another hearing was scheduled for next Tuesday.

Outside court, Storey said he planned to charge the 17-year-old as an adult by the Tuesday hearing.

"Based upon my experience and what I think the charges will be, I think that's the appropriate thing to do, is to charge as an adult," said Storey

Ohhh, I know... gads...
Of course, now I'm trying to remember who started the rumor abt JR's clothes being in BP which apparently turned out to be true, IRRC. I'm now wondering if what we thought was "just a rumor" was reported by the same media as this latest cross info. IDK.

What I do know is that I have got to take a break from here long enough to make a grocery run before trees start falling. gads...
