I haven't been around for a while and see that Jessica's case has moved to this new Forum. From one phase of sadness and turmoil another....

A few questions:

- Have we ever found anything written by AS online? Early on his confirmed username (I think) was found on different sites, the u/n being something like doth_____ (can't come close to remembering it). I recall one or two brief comments by him but not much. I've never heard or read his friends or anyone mention him doing a lot of writing. I've wondered if that was something he did at all. Having read some recent pages here about different theories about AS, it might be viable for him to journal. Either online or on paper (I still use paper journals!). With his thoughts being dark and disturbing and whatever isolation or social awkwardness he may have had, writing makes sense. Well, it always makes sense. I could envision someone like him writing big broad morbid theoretical fanatical manifesto type rants or taking specific hectic disturbing notes on what he plans to do, fantasizes about doing, or did. Obviously LE will have this if it exists. I figured someone here would've tracked down if he had some open public blog before it was taken down if it was ever traceable. It would be very insightful to read even a brief bit of his writing to see how he thinks (speaks), especially since not much will be coming out of court.

- The latest I read via a link on a post here, AS still has a public defender. Is anyone surprised that a local (or even non-local) attorney hasn't volunteered their services pro bono just because this is a high profile case? I know by now that my personal reaction "Why would anyone EVER choose to associate with this most awful case, EVER???" is not a realistic statement, as EVEN defense attorneys have jobs to do. And everyone deserves a good defense. EVEN ARS.... *I cringe saying that*. I guess it's still early and there's still time for an attorney to be retained or to offer their services. It just feels like it's been a long, long time...

I have been away and trying to catch up. Had LE found any remains at the perps house?

<snipped for space>
I do believe LE now knows exactly where the kidnapping occurred. ARS had waived his right to remain silent at the time of his arrest, so I would think LE would ask questions regarding where he first saw her, and where he made the grab, etc.

All of the above is JMO.

BBM I'm curious if you don't mind, what makes you think they know the exact location? I keep feeling like they're still missing some big piece of the puzzle, but I don't know what. Part of me thinks it could be the exact abduction site, but it could definitely be something else. I'm sure they know way more than has been released too. I was just curious where your thought came from.

Since the route JR most likely took was through the park to the next street to the west,

Why does everyone keep saying she most likely went through the park? Why would she walk an extra 0.1 mile through the park in cold weather on her way to school? I don't get it.

The question is how much tax money do you want to spend on trials like this?

Murder trials used to take a few days to complete. Even capital murder. Appeals could be wrapped up in a few months and an execution could be completed in less then a year after the crime was committed.

Now the process takes years just to get to trail. The appeals last for decades, and usually the convicted murderer dies of natural causes before he is even executed. Whats the point?

I'm all for people getting a fair and speedy trail. But this just seems to me to be a way for judges and lawyers to milk the system.

Siggs isn't even up for capital punishment, and his trial probably won't even start for another two or three years. Something is wrong with the system IMHO.

From the outside looking in, there are a couple of things that slow it all down -

One is the courts are clogged with drug related crime, which could be largely eliminated if users were treated as diseased instead of criminal;

The other is the Death Penalty - a double edged sword if ever there was one.

The people can have their vengeance, but they have to wait so long for it due to the (necessary) legal checks and balances in the system that it is anti-climactic and unsatisfying and can prolong the agony and grief almost beyond endurance for the victims.

It would move things along if the DP was off the table, and with it, the interminable appeals.

But, some states still prefer their vengeance in old testament form, and so we wait...and wait.

The only thing I can see different about your child murderers and ours, is that yours tie up the legal system for ever...they both still sit in a jail cell for years.

The US offender often has a comfy medically controlled death to look forward to, the Australian offender gets years and endless years to ponder which fellow prisoner will shank and/or neuter him first.

Which seems the harshest punishment?

:waitasec:

Just my opinion. Anyway ARS will be sitting on his for an extremely long time, unless he pulls an insanity defence in which case he will probably be on day release from a cushy mental hospital within 5 years, and everyone will be amazed when he kills again.

Just wrong.

Austin is one very sick person. I don't care what neurological exception he may have, regardless of which combination of autism, dyslexia, insanity, sociopathy, hyperactivity, and whatever else, is put together. What we see in Austin is an extremely dangerous person.

Yesss !!!

i think he grabbed her here

or here

First one, very possible.

Second one, not a chance. No way in hell, did he drag her 45 meters, and then force her into his car sitting right in front of two houses.

From what I can see on Google Maps aerial view there are solid fences with no gates behind all the houses facing that walkway. I asked about that possibility threads ago and got no response.

It seems sad to me that each house seems to have a privacy fence cutting it off from their neighbors and the open areas. When I was a kid no one in our neighborhood had fences around their yards which made all the yards one big play area which spilled out into the city park next to our house. Kids miss so much by being cut off from each other - and there is less visibility so it's harder for people to watch out for their neighbors! JMO

The fences are allowed around the back and side yards. The homeowners are obviously are taking advantage of that option. Overall I'd say it's a pretty poorly designed neighborhood though. It's not exactly neighborhood watch friendly.

I have nothing concrete to base my opinion on except for the statement supposedly made to LE by ARS...that he passed Jessica and turned around and grabbed her. It seems logical to think that LE would have asked where this happened. I don't see much of a reason for LE to keep that a secret at this point except that the gag order is in place so no one is really releasing anything now...even things that might not harm the ongoing investigation if it were released. So, in short, it's just my opinion that LE read ARS his rights with his mother present, then asked ARS some questions and he answered them, though maybe not all of them. The custody form does say ARS waived his rights so it is not difficult to assume he did some talking, at least at first. But of course, regarding some issues assuming is all I really can do.

Some of that is due to the locale: a lot of swimming pools in LA, SD, PHX, and big fences are safety necessities. There is also the issue of keeping dogs in and keeping coyotes out, etc etc. I agree that it looks nicer w/o fences, and my neighborhood doesn't even allow them, but good fences do make good neighbors! :-)

...why would someone want to keep the coyotes out? Writes the woman who loved the coyote queen who lived in her backyard for 6 years.

Of course, I'm also the person who has all of five neighbours within a half mile radius of my home. And one of those neighbours doesn't really count any more since the bridge went out between us.

For whatever reasons, though, the fence thing seems to be regional; it is normal and feels comfortable for the people in Westminster.

Thanks for the reply! Makes sense to me. I know we're all having to do a lot of guessing and assuming.

Ask Anthony Graves what the point is. Or Dennis Williams. Or Kirk Bloodsworth. Or Rolando Cruz. Or Robert Miller. Or, well, any of the people who were convicted of murder, sentenced to death, spent way more than a year on death row and were then exonerated.

All those factually innocent people would have been killed had the process not taken so long and, typically, had they not managed to catch someone's interest. For instance, the only thing that got Anthony Graves out of jail was an off hand remark the prosecutor, Charles Sebesta, made during a Geraldo Rivera interview that revealed Sebesta knew exculpatory evidence existed before Mr Graves's trial that had not been revealed to the defence (clear Brady violation).

I do agree that a system of justice that relies on a crooked prosecutor incriminating himself during a Geraldo Rivera interview is pretty broken... but speeding up the process would have killed Anthony Graves.

In the neighborhood I lived in most everyone had fences because we all had small children. It was for their safety primarily keeping them out of the street but still allowing them to go outside and play. Even new homes came with a fence already built as a selling feature. jmo

Also from article...

According to the Law Center, the foundation filed to become a recognized non-profit in the state of Colorado Monday.

There is no listing for the foundation on the Secretary of State's website.

:what::what::what:

Has anyone ever heard of this organization?

I agree with you! No matter what his DX is, he chose his path!!!
