Jessica was still alive when he killed her again sticking her face in scalding hot water. He tortured and killed her over and over regardless of what age he was. Don't tell me he'd make a wiser decision forty years from now. He can not be redeemed, IMO.

It is maddening to listen to these arguments to cut him any breaks. IMO, his name should be erased from the book of Life forever. He's lucky he is not being put to death right now, in my opinion.

Give Jessica's Family and Loved Ones the comfort of never hearing his name again.

I am pretty sure his lawyer is a public defender. He/She is required to make a defense for him. But as high-profile as this case was, he wasn't able to get a pro-bono attorney...That should tell you something. I know his father is wealthy, can you imagine if he got him an expensive defense team?

Please excuse this, but I am horrified that this defense attorney has the nerve to verbally express the term "cruel and unusual punishment" when referring to Sigg. Agggghhh. The very idea of his using these words for his client makes me sick.

This is shocking. Sigg has an adult fully formed brain and he is not a child that did a "very bad thing". I understand the need for the defense lawyer to present a good argument, but what he is arguing - I can't imagine that he actually believes it.

Isn't it shown that jail makes criminals worse? And if Sigg got released at 60, he would have no job, no skills, no education. Who would hire him? What would he be doing? Not to mention, he's obviously f***ed in the head...I find it extremely unlikely he wouldn't be a threat at 60.

I'm not in any way shape or form in Sigg's corner, but I have to point out there are (many) times when a victim the same age as Sigg is referred to (here) as "that poor baby," "that child," "that girl/boy" and other adjectives to imply someone very young and/or helpless. It's a pet peeve because no, a person who is well into their teens is not a baby or a child or a youngster. The infantilization that occurs is ridiculous whether it is used to refer to victim or perpetrator, IMHO.

So the defense team is using that same technique to describe their client, a 17 yr old killer. Oh the irony.

I realize that defense attorneys have to say something in order to help their client, however, I find this "boys will be boys" approach primitive. Sigg is not a child experimenting. He viciously and brutally took a child's life. I don't think 40 years in prison will improve his outlook, nor would 40 years of rehab. He made a choice, several!
