CO - Jessica Ridgeway, 10, Westminster, 5 Oct. 2012 - #24 *GUILTY PLEA*

A bit confused here. An August 5 document says the trial is expected to start September 20 and end October 11. However, apparently a witness for the defense is out of the country until October 13. The defense also claims that they still haven't received 5000-10000 pages of information. So it sounds like they want the trial delayed....but they say at the end they want to "continue the currently scheduled jury trial in the above captioned manner for only two weeks"? What does that mean?

Hi eileenhawkeye, I agree with you completely. Can you or anyone tell me why he needs a witness? The govt. needs to update a lot of these laws. This bag of **** did this. there is no doubt. Unless the "witness" saw him do it, if I were on the jury I'd not be interested in anything he/she had to say. They need witnesses if there is doubt in guilt nothing else. Can you tell how I feel about this guy? :floorlaugh: :stormingmad: :floorlaugh:

A memorial for Jessica has been built in Patridge Park just across the street from where here body was found.

There is still an unofficial memorial on the other side of Leyden Road.

The creek in this valley flooded a couple weeks ago. Fortunately the new memorial was high enough to be out of the water. Some of the local residents were not so lucky and roads were wiped out in several places.

The jury selection process in this case is proceeding. 900 were called on Monday, all but 127 have been dismissed in the first round. My brother was one of those who got dismissed. I expected this to happen. We had both been out looking for Jessica. Two days before her body was found, we had searched the east end of Leyden valley. It's only a matter of luck that we didn't go west and find her.

Heartbreaking and beautiful.

Thanks for sharing, Footwarrior.

I'm sure Jessica is in Heaven now, being the cheerleader she dreamed of being. She and Zahra, giggling, running & playing. Those two and so many (too many) others.

My heart goes out to her mother and her aunts.

Justice for Jessica.

The only way I would be okay with a plea agreement is if Sigg will still get the maximum (40 years, right?). Maybe he will plead guilty and spare everyone a trial.

ETA: It sounds very likely that Sigg is going to plead guilty tomorrow.

Life with the possibility of parole after 40 years, iirc. Slightly different. Given the slaughter, I would hope that they'd deny parole. :moo:

He's going to plead out, no doubt in my mind. I thought it would occur sooner than this though.

Forty years to life. Still not enough, IMO.

Thinking of Jessica and everyone who loves her today.

Good. It really irritated me that that were trying the tactics they were trying, with his confession on tape and her remains in his house.
