Probably not my place because I'm Canadian but hope you all sign petitions to have free school buses for children! I can't believe parents have to pay for school buses. I realize it may not stop abductions but every little bit counts to keep our children safe. :please:

Public school buses ARE free in every state and district, some may require a small token amount from the parents but that amount in no way covers the actual yearly cost of the transportation for the students. I have lived in, attended, had kids in, and worked in numerous districts and NONE of them required any payment at all for bus transportation to public schools.

However, it wouldn't matter to any abductor whether the child rode a free bus or one that was parent subsidized. AND kids who live close to schools PREFER to to walk or be driven by parents for 5 or 10 minutes rather than ride a bus that meanders through numerous nearby neighborhoods for an hour or more before arriving at school.

Well then who is the witness, I wonder.

I guess we are back to, if it is not on tape, we can't believe it.
The media is out of control, if they are changing the words a witness says to make it more interesting or controversial. There are even quotes in that misquote, aren't there?

Mom must be the witness that saw her walking to school. I don't think anyone else saw Jessica that morning. :moo:

I also live in Canada, but we pay over $200 a year for bus fees plus $185 a year so our kids are allowed to stay in school during lunch.

Praying For Jessica's safe return.

"We are a strong family and we will get through this. We will find her and make sure she is well taken care of, just like she has always been."
Hmmmm.....

Shef not like interview language.

Kai thinks mom's ex is 2 chairs down from her and there is tension from custody issues. I think mom was just reiterating that she has always taken care of Jessica-regardless of circumstances. JMO

OT, but I think I recall from Sierra's case that buses are not always free.

The FBI has arrived at the home of Ridgeway’s mother and will be escorting her to the Westminster Police Department. There, the family will record their first public statement.
We’ll have it for you as soon as we get it.

I didn't know the BBM statement was accurate so I did a quick google search and here's a quote from one district. For lots of families $475 (per child) would be a hardship.

"....$475 per child for bus transportation for the 2011-2012 school year."

I live in Ohio, and we don't pay anything out of pocket for bussing, but kids who live fewer than 2 miles from school cannot be bussed. I have co-workers who live in different districts who do pay for bussing. I'd say it probably depends on the district.

If she was with another child, we should have either a vehicle or suspect description of some sort, unless Jessica split from her friend before getting into/being taken into a vehicle. Did Jessica tell her friend she would not be at school? Is that why LE has made such strange statements about "no evidence of an abduction" and that they don't believe someone is going around grabbing kids? All very strange, LE language has been strange all along, IMO.

Something like this is just about the only explanation that makes sense.

sorry I posted before I read the above......did mum actually say that she saw her leave the house with her friend???? can anyone confirm this is what she said......if she did why would she say that.....

No, Jessica's mother most emphatically DID NOT SAY THAT.

The printed media reports did a horrible, sloppy editing/paraphrase/re-write of what Jessica's mother really said and made it into something different.

For those suspecting Jessica's mother-remember that her backpack was found placed on the sidewalk of a residential neighborhood on Sunday morning. SR did not even leave her house until yesterday (Monday) IIRC, and she has been surrounded by LE and the media this entire time. She would not have had a chance to dump the backpack.

Relying on the published news reports, has it been determined if the backpack, water-bottle, and key-chain were found inside the paper bag?

I am interested in considering the question: if the items were left inside the paper bag, why did the person who placed the items inside the paper bag choose to place them in this sort of paper bag?

Lawn bags are available for sale at Home Depot and at Lowe's, both stores located not far from the location where the items were discovered.

(1) The Backpack.
Q #1: Were the items -- the backpack, water-bottle, and key-chain -- found inside the paper bag?

Q #2: If the backpack, water-bottle, and key-chain were found inside the paper bag, why would they have been placed inside the paper bag?

Q #3: If the answer to Q #1 is yes, (i.e., the items were found inside the paper bag), then:
(a) What kind of paper bag is the paper bag shown in the photograph?
Answer: A lawn-bag.

Q #4: If the answer to Q #1 is "no," then, what kind of bag is shown in the photograph?
Answer: A paper "evidence bag." (If interested, see google images and search "paper evidence bag;" there are images there of similar evidence bags presumably used by law enforcement."

The backpack wasn't found inside a paper bag-it was placed in one by LE to preserve evidence.

Something about the body language of the presser reminds me of the first presser for Kyle Horman, with Desiree, the dad, the stepmom, the stepdad... It was very telling from day one for many of us.

I assume that the investigators placed the backpack, etc inside the paper bag.

ack I have done it again...posted while someone was in fact answering my question....yep it seems like bad reporting.....wow not good at all, changing the wording like that on such a vital thing as a potential witness.....

Ok so back to mum being last one to see her.

Revampz, the police have been saying from early on that they do have a witness who saw Jessica on her way to school that day. That sounds to me like someone other than Jessica's mother.

Whoever it is has not come forward in the media and I most fervently hope they do not. There's no point to narrowing down the potential area of abduction for the public.
