I would want to remind my hypothetical child that I am strong and I will fight and keep on fighting. I'd figure that there would be a good chance my child would be feeling weak and hopeless, so I'd want to send the message that there is someone strong fighting for them.

There was just one part of the raw footage that seemed rehearsed to me and that was the part where Sarah asked people to send in any tip, no matter how small or unimportant it may seem. I'm sure she meant it from her heart but it seemed a little more polished than her other statements. I have a feeling LE asked her to be sure to make that point in the interview.

I really agree with you about this. I think there were certain things that LE wanted to make sure Sarah included, and when she talked about those things she did sound slightly rehearsed. I even think LE specifically asked her to use the word "insignificant" when asking for tips, because bless her heart, she kind of stumbled over the word the first time she used it, and she used it again later in the interview.

An interview like that must be a living hell. Between alternating bouts of sobbing and vomiting, I probably wouldn't even be able to form a coherent sentence. All in all, I feel Sarah held up well under the circumstances.

ETA: It looks like Jessica has a lot of caring women in her life. I grew up in a household with my mom, grandma and two aunts, and I think a lot of my strength arises from that upbringing.

Also, the comment about "She does everything on her own because she wants to make herself look like she is a grownup. She wants to be a teenager before she’s a teenager. " - sounds almost negative or like she is trying to blame Jessica? Maybe I am not reading the inflection correctly.

SBM (Snipped By Me)

When she made that comment about Jessica, she smiled a little and almost laughed. In my humble opinion, it wasn't negative at all, it was more like those words triggered a fond memory for her.

Wow.... does this $185.00 go toward supervision pay.. or why is there a fee to let kids stay at school during lunch?

As a retired teacher.. this caught my eye!

:seeya:

Yes to pay for the people who supervise the children during lunch. I was a little surprised to hear this. When my sisters and I were in school it was always parents who volunteered to supervise during recess and lunch.

I'm not sure, but I think it was a tweet that came out shortly before Jessica's family left for their interview today. If I find it, I'll post it here for you.

ETA: I see I was waaay to slow in responding, I'm glad someone else helped you!

The FBI’s evidence response team went inside to conduct a meticulous search of the home, which is the last place she was seen...agents were careful not to contaminate the scene as they covered their shoes and wore gloves. One agent took a ladder inside...
More than two hours later agents brought out evidence concealed in brown bags. One bag was particularly large and long, but only a select group of agents and investigators knew what was inside.

So, was she seen walking??

Ps: this video also says police expect to be in the neighborhood late tonight

And... why is it such a mystery?.....

I can think of two really, really good reasons.

One: in cases like this, LE usually asks witnesses not to go to the media if the information the witness has may be crucial to the investigation. There's always someone in every heavily publicised case who just can't resist the temptation to go to the media but most people are compliant.

Two: Witnesses who come forward to the media are often ripped to shreds and subjected to all sorts of horrible speculation. There's an example in the Elizabeth Collins and Lyric Cook case of this. A local businessman has had his entire life and reputation sliced, diced and julienne fried for anyone to find by simply googling his name.

Okay, I thought of a third: whoever abducted Jessica may well be a violent criminal and one who shows signs of knowing the area pretty well. I wouldn't want that perp to know who I was and that I was a potential danger to him. And even if I weren't afraid for myself, chances are I have a family that I don't want to expose to unnecessary threat.

Much better. lol. My brother lives in the 2nd largest city in Tx (San Antonio) and there is no "county" busing there. EACH school district handles transportation. Not rural. Neither is the county that Jessica lives. NOT rural.

O/T I'm from Dallas, Texas originally, and I still find it hard to believe that San Antonio has supplanted Dallas as the second largest city in Texas!

I never thought of school transportation that much, but if I were a parent of school-aged children and planning to move, I'd definitely make sure what the school bus situation was. It looks like cities vary greatly in the services they provide to their school children.

I wonder if the statement about J trying to act older like a teenager is also either (1) something LE wanted the mom to say because they have a hunch about the person who took her or (2) something to think about even if no one else has in that if J was trying to be a grown up or teenager to her mom then who else is she trying to give that impression to or what else is she doing to try to "act older."
I do not mean this in a bad way toward Jessica, not at all. I was 10 and thought I could have totally lived on my own. I was a naive 10 year old and didn't know the difference between a real teenager or young adult and myself other than they could do more stuff because my parents were lame and wet blankets. Just a thought. Being 10 is hard. Too old for playing dollies and too young for hanging out and dating.
I am praying for Miss J!

it's not 3 blocks from her house to the park, it's a few houses.

That was based on a transposition of the numbers in Jessica's address.

Her actual house really is about 3 blocks from the park (judging from the overhead view, I'd say three short blocks but definitely way more than 3 houses).

A child....or surveillance that LE is keeping under wraps? It may be completely nothing, but does anyone remember in a video of a mother walking a little boy up the street and talking to an officer? Pretty sure it was right in front of JR's home. The woman was blonde as the little boy--- who looked around 7 or 8. ?

Not to mention feeling horrible about not walking her child or driving her child to school.

I have read comments from others on the net, of them making mom out to be bad for not seeing the child to school. Perhaps mom has to.

Also since I have a single mom living under my roof, who often works midnights, this thought came to me "maybe mom fell asleep and didn't even see her leave for school". I know my daughter after working midnights will sit down in the chair waiting for that last 10 minutes to walk her child to the bus stop and she falls asleep. She is so hard to wake up to after working midnights. It got so bad that I told her to get off that shift, she now only picks up a midnight from time to time. If I was not here, I could see my 8 year old grandson trying to wake her, and when he couldn't, he would just walk down to the bus stop by himself. Maybe this happened.

Yes, I thought about her falling asleep too. I am not saying that I believe she has anything to do with Jessica's appearance. I'm not sure that I do. But I do believe that her statements expressed guilt and I think it's much beyond just not getting the phone call. She overly emphasized that she cares for Jessica, that she has a new warm bed to sleep in, explained why Jessica got herself ready, and stated at least a couple times why her cell was in the other room. I am sure that every parent analyzes their own actions and thinks, "What if I'd just done such and such?" I think certainly that's normal. To me however, this seemed to be overly the case. The falling asleep could be a logical explaination. Perhaps she easily dozed off while Jessica was independently getting ready. Who can fault her for that? The girl is 10 - not a baby - and she just got home from work. What parent hasn't done this accidently? The problem is that if she's trying to overly account for that, so that people won't judge her as a "bad mom", it can make her look like she's lying, therefore guilty and a "bad mom". Throw in a custody battle, which all the more complicates her need to prove she's a good mom......Tough situation.

GrainneDhu, I've decided that I should just post "ditto" after everything you post, because I am almost always in agreement with you.

I thought another moment that seemed very natural was when the family laughed when they talked about her "shaking her butt", and another time was when one of the aunts described Jessica as a "mini me". Just a few moments of laughter for the family as they hold on to the fond memories.

I worked 12 hour nights and it was so different for me. When I got home in the morning I was wide awake and actually got a lot of housework done before I hit the sack. Coworker moms were the same way. Once you are used to it, it's like working any shift. Do folks who work 6am to 6pm go right to bed when they get home?

At 4:30pm when mom learned Jessica was missing she drove around the neighborhood looking for her. Was she alone? Where are gma and auntie?

Can anyone point me to any media or LE statement that specifically says that someone other than mom spoke to Jessica before she left the house. Who talked to the friend J or the friend J's parent? Was it Jessica or mom? Do we actually know the answer to that question?

Someone mentioned over the weekend that a 14-year-old student at the local middle school or high school committed suicide. Do we have any details on that? Could it have been someone that Jessica knew?
