I'm sure I read she's an only child. The captions only state they are 'extended family', though why on earth someone thought it was such a good idea to take kids along to that sort of thing, I have no idea!

:seeya: hi Amber. Thanks for that!
Gee .gosh idk ....I don't think I'd take a young one to a news pressor. IMO

Is there anyone who could listen in on the scanners thread? It's very quiet down there at the moment so just a case of keeping half an ear open.

Who knows.....just thinking out loud - maybe they thought that if Jessica, by any chance, could get a glimpse of the show and see someone important to her, it would comfort her...

Nothing I see. This is so not right.

GMA is showing part of the family interview right now. I can't stand watching the poor dad again.

I believe dad and two cousins traveled to Colorado on Sunday. I think they were there for moral support for both mom and dad, JMO.

Morning.. Hoping & praying that today is the day that Jessica is safely brought home..

Seems that Purple is Jessica Ridgeway's favorite color...
Purple color has always been associated with the spiritual world and if the person has purple aura color it means that she has either spiritual thoughts or is connected to the spiritual world in some way. This color affects your nerve system positively and is a perfect color for healing.. Her family could surely use a little healing after a very long six days...

When Susan Smith was making her plea on TV for the first time I immediately got a sense that she was lying. Here I think the father is genuine but I get the feeling the mother here might not be telling the whole truth. It could be as simple as not actually watching her daughter leave that day as she stated. I don't think she did anything to her daughter and you could be right they could have given her a sedative to calm her down and that's why I am picking up the vibes off her as I am.

I think Sarah is just a simple, grief-stricken woman thrust into a horrifying situation, and trying to do the best she can. She probably feels guilty over what happened to Jessica, what mother wouldn't? Even though it isn't her fault that an abductor snatched Jessica, she probably blames herself for a million things she feels she should have done, but didn't. JMO.

I agree that she may have been under medication in order to be able to face the camera. JMO.

Thanks for the beautiful lavender fields. Not only is the color beautiful, the smell of lavender invites a feeling of relaxation and calm. It has a lot of restorative properties.

God bless Jessica's family and give them the strength to face another day.

Per our local Channel 4 news, the Westminster Police will be giving an update in about an hour. Unfortunately, I will be at work.

Goodmorning everyone: please do not speculate about other family members in the video. Family members are considered victims. This is not aimed at any particular post and lands randomly.

She might have been taking those deep breaths to keep from breaking out crying. I don't know of course, but when I don't want to start crying, that is exactly what I do.

Moo and I'm likely way off but I don't think LE took her bedding to use for scent dogs. I think they may be checking for something else.....
Only throwing out my ideas.

I agree and the Mom saying they were cleaning her room so it was nice and fresh for when she came home. That would be last on my mind!

I have a tracking question. We are always reading about tracking the missing. What about tracking possible POIs, local RSOs, etc? Why not have dogs see where they've been in the neighborhood or whether they have been to the site where Jessica's back pack was found? I don't know how difficult it would be to track the scent of 4-5 people. Perhaps you would need 4-5 different dogs. I'm sure there are posters who can provide some feedback on it.

Another option is to slap GPS devices under a few vehicles and log where the people go. For instance, you could know right off whether RSOs in the neighborhood drove to the place where the back pack was located. The information isn't admissible in court, but it might save a girl's life.

RSOs' own phone pings also could indicate their whereabouts at different points. But the police might not have access to that sort of information.

As I was taking my daughter to school this morning, Houston station 94.5 (on the radio) talked about Jessica. :)

Hearing the family describe Jessica and her morning routine reminds me so much of my daughter. My daughter thinks she is grown and wants to do things on her own. Her new thing is that she needs a training bra because she is 9 and don't I know that puberty starts at 9....

My daughter has her own alarm clock that goes off every morning to wake her up. She comes downstairs, gets her own breakfast, picks out her own clothes, and makes her own lunch. She even fills up her own water bottle every morning.

She walks to school with the little boy and his mother that live 2 doors up. At 8:30, I kiss her goodbye, walk her to the door, and watch her walk off the porch and down the sidewalk. I never see her go to the house 2 doors down. She has been doing it for 2 yrs and I live in a nice neighborhood so I always felt she was safe. These past few days I have been walking her to her friends house and it is driving her crazy.

I am not sure what point I was trying to make except that I hope that Jessica comes home soon and that one day our children will be safe to do normal kid things.

The disappearance of Jessica Ridgeway is the latest in a long string of high-profile abductions of children in the Denver area:

Notable Colorado child kidnappings - The Denver Post

• Jan. 19, 2012: A 9-year-old Pueblo girl was kidnapped as she walked home from school. The next day, a girl and a man were spotted stranded on the side of the road in Colorado Springs. The two front tires on the their truck were shredded. They were given a ride to a Circle K just off Interstate 25, where the girl strode ahead of the man into the convenience store and asked a clerk — who noticed her bruises and two black eyes — to use the phone. The girl called 9-1-1. Her alleged abductor, Jose Garcia, 29, of Pueblo, was arrested hours later..

I think it's natural that we're all going to get our own "vibe" from the family interview....IMO, dad seems 110% genuine in his grief....harder to get a read on the mom....but one thing I DON'T feel is that she is the sneaky/lying type. I definitely felt that about Baby Lisa's mom....but not about Sara Ridgeway. Just my thoughts on it.

I truly believe the days of children walking alone to school and other things that I did as a child are over and have been for some time now. It is a different world where murderers, child abusers and all the scum of the earth have rights. They are the protected ones.
It makes me sick that children today can not grow up the way I did. Playing in the woods with a bag lunch, we would be out there all day playing all kinds of things. Oh we had so much fun. Then home for supper and outside again.
My parents were strict and we lived on a dead end street, all the parents watched us. But I will say my mother walked us to school as we lived to close for busing. So I guess they were on guard even in the 60's to some extent.
