Guys, I live in CO. I identified it as a Disabled Vet plate a ways back, and linked it. I see them regularly.

they are in abundance here...prob cause CO has a HUGE HUGE military presence....and again, DV is not indicitive of age....young guys returning from iraq are now considered disabled vets...

and while the car is old....again, not indicitive of age of owner...

there are just way too many factors in figuring out who owns the car.....

Parks, green spaces, places like that. I am from the south, and when I moved here to Colorado, I had no idea, either!

Colorado has a lot of unused land - called open space - where nothing is allowed to be built on it. Many or most counties require a certain percentage of open space to be left - to preserve nature, etc.

But where is the roof rack the witness saw? If she was inaccurate about the roof rack, then I'd question how reliable her sighting is, JMO.

Police said the girl matching Ridgeway’s description was spotted inside the car and never got out of it. Police have put out an alert for a light blue, mid-90s station wagon with “fancy,” five-spoke chrome wheels. The vehicle reportedly has Colorado license plate, but the license plate number is unknown.

You may be confusing it with the vehicle description in the Cody WY case. That was a SUV with a roof rack.

Not a local, but a local explained it on a previous thread. Due to the rapid expansion in the Denver area, certain parcels of land were purchased for public enjoyment. These open spaces are often used for biking, hiking, etc. In my part of the country we call similar areas "greenbelts".

We are about an hour away, and we have a 40 to 50% chance of snow tomorrow. Might be another reason so many boots on the ground, trying to get any evidence before possible snow comes.

The disabled veteran plate, along with it being an older model station wagon, makes me think it most likely belongs to an older person. If the perp killed an elderly person to get their car, they may not have even been reported missing yet.

I really am starting to wonder if the body that was found wasn't the owner of that car! I cannot remember a case like this before. The press conference about the discovery of the body-with no description of it whatsoever-seemed bizarre to me even before this new information came out. This theory would fit, and it's not too outlandish either.

I'm on the edge of my seat with this one, that's for sure!

TreeClimbingGirl, I'm with you on this one. I kind of get the impression that whatever happened yesterday threw a real curveball at LE, to borrow a baseball metaphor.

A disabled vet plate wouldn't have to mean an older person. There are plenty of young disabled vets from Iraq and Afghanistan.

Open space is any area set aside to leave undeveloped. It can have any sort of terrain, from plains, marshes, trees, hills, constructed bike paths or not, hiking trails or not. Think of it as intentionally undeveloped, natural land.

I personally do not believe she was ever in Maine, nor does this car have anything to do with her case. I still do not believe it is logistically possible for the car to be up in maine and have sightings w/ the timing of the dropped bag, etc....

IMO, the ongoing search could be for a murder weapon (maybe the body had knife wounds for example) or for [sorry to say this] body parts if the body was not in tact and the body was not easily identifable (thus the need for further testing).

Sounds horrible and gory, but it is a possibility...

its not logistically impossible, what if there is more than one person involved? one who stayed in the westminster area?

theres a reason why that car was dumped where it was, the day after LE announced a BOLO for a car matching that description.

Nope, here's what I read:

The woman, who Grinnell will not identify, described the car the girl was seen in as a light-blue Buick station wagon - a mid 1990s model - with Colorado plates. She did not get the plate number.

The car had roof racks and five spoke wheels, Grinnell says.

Thanks! (This is why my husband drives virtually everywhere!) I have no idea why Arlington Virginia websites came up when I did that search?? I didn't bother to click on them, just saw the Arlington, VA, and assumed they had some connection. If I didn't detest the phrase so much, I might be tempted to utter, "My bad...."

I'm down in MA, so this is second hand, but there's been mention of "cops all over the f**** place" in coastal Maine and NH.

Oy, I don't know if they showed it everywhere, but when they were showing live feed last night over the scene (news chopper), all I could see was what would have been a mid-section. The grass is long, so the rest could have been covered, but that's all I saw. Honestly I couldn't believe they were allowed to show it?! And it was light colored, flesh colored

I am in MA too. Just talked with my daughter is Westminster. Things are still very hot out there, personally I think this car in N.H. is all a ruse.

I must say I am incredibly impressed with LE in this case. We have lots of questions we want answered but they are keeping things close to the vest, and as we've seen with many other cases, that tends to be the best course of action for a thorough and unbotched (just made that word up) investigation. Thank you, LE!!

This surly is a strange place to abandon a car (that exactly matches the bolo from Maine I might add).

Looking at the car all the tires seem to be intact/body looks okay.

Note how hidden this parking area seems to be.

Also note dogs searching and woods at the edges of the picture.
