I think we will find out a lot about this killer in the next week or two..even if he isn't caught. If he wants to taunt LE and is looking for even more attention, he will kidnap and murder again. Maybe he will contact LE or the media. But I think if he doesn't want to be caught, he will control his urges for at least a few months.

OT:
Hello All,
Any help would be appreciated. I have a PM from a WS member, but I seem to be having an issue viewing it. Since I am new here on WS I am wondering if there is something special that I need to do in order to see the reply? TIA for your suggestions.

In the top right, under your username, it says 'private messages', hover or click that and another list should appear, click the 'unread' one and it should take you to them.

Hi Thorn,

go to the private forums and go to the games room to play a few games and get your post number up to 30 posts or so. Try accessing your messages after then.

Welcome! xoxo

As I was driving in this area today, I saw garbage bags sitting every couple of miles or so, at the edge of the road and marked with a traffic cone. I believe that the "waste collectors" were maintenance workers who walk the side of the road and pick up trash, put it into bags, and drop with a cone to be picked up by a vehicle.
That is how it is in our area. And for us, anyway, these are not on a regular basis. It's not like every Wednesday someone comes and cleans up the trash. It's kind of arbitrary and can sometimes not happen for months, so maybe the perp thought he was going to get more time before she was found and got unlucky. Left her out for the animals, but she got found too soon. Just a thought.

I agree, that is most likely. Or they could be trying to make someone THINK they have DNA. Put the pressure on, make them possibly act differently at home because they are wondering what they could have missed, and freaking because they think LE will appear at their door any minute.

Bet he is on a scanner, watching every news channel and reading! If he is here. Your time is running out! Tic. Toc!

So looking at the video of the location of the body, you can see that it wasn't actually near the tree but just on the other side of the fence.

WHAT IF the perp hid her in the drain pipe, and an animal pulled her out just past the fence? Then it wasn't hidden in plain sight at all and some of the profiling goes out the door.

If it was put just past the fence, that could also be someone who meant to take the body farther, but was somehow stopped, meaning there could be someone who was traveling that road while the body was being left, and just doesn't know they saw something important. (This is not even a blip on the news in my area)

I imagine LE would know IF she was left in the drain pipe (transfer of evidence from the pipe to the remains).

The road was CLOSED until recently? Why? Was it being repaired or something? Has this been reported in the media (I missed it somehow if it was!). That seems significant to me! Did he know it had just re-opened? If so, how and why did he know this?

I didn't post about the closure, I don't know, but I found this:

W 82nd Ave (Leyden Road) Construction Notice

Posted 02/17/12

Updated 07/02/12

The developer for the Leyden Rock subdivision has scheduled a full roadway closure along W 82nd Ave (Leyden Road) between SH-93 and just west of Quaker Street. The work combines multiple underground construction activities for water, sewer, drainage and future pedestrian needs.

** Leyden Road will be closed to through traffic from February 22nd until early August, 2012.

Traffic will be detoured to Indiana Street during the closure. Travelers are advised to use caution near the construction site and seek alternative routes to avoid delays.

Not sure if it was brought up, but since they were trying to pinpoint cell phones in the area of the cell towers, the perp most likely ditched his phone or abruptly changed his number.

Everybody within that area should be on the lookout for anybody that changed their number or suddenly couldn't be reached via phone.

Perhaps he doesn't own a cell phone, or pre-planned and didn't take it with him, but hopefully that's an area where he slipped up somehow.

On the
Bring Home Jessica Ridgeway there is a post about some guy videotaping kids, and apparently its not a crime... Police need to check into this!

It was reported that the killer went under the fence, so there must be some reason to believe that--such as it being bent upwards or something.

If you look at that most recent picture closely, it looks as though there are evidence markers placed in the grass (they're red) from the road, through the culvert, and up to the fence. However, then they stop. If he went under, then I think it was because of one of two reasons:

1. He had intended to walk further up into the space, or perhaps hide her up in the woods nearby, or in the shack, or elsewhere. However, he saw someone or heard something and left her quickly, running off. For this theory to fit, I think he was probably on foot b/c I don't think he would have driven off if he heard someone.

2. He wanted to place or properly (stage it) though I'm not sure how one would "stage" a torso.

Since she was placed so close to the fence, I really think it had to be one of these two reasons IF he went under the fence. Otherwise, he would have just tossed the body over. Why bother going under the fence? Since they state he went under, I assume they have evidence to support that.

Leyden Road had been closed for months while they built the bridge and upgraded it just west of Leyden. It opened about a week before Jessica disappeared.

Yes, but would they give that information out yet? Just wondering in cyberspace.

Westerfield was like this!

Yup.

And I know one of the women he was married to. She's a very close friend. They had long been apart when he killed DvD, but I remember her shock when he was arrested and long conversations about her relationship with him, and how she never would have thought he'd do that. And yet there he was...

I guess that could point toward it being a local, who knew that road had just reopened. But then again, it could have been a coincidence that it happened that way. A random perp could have been exploring or wandering and happened upon a newly reopened road.

Also, the term 'local' has various meanings. The perp could be visiting friends or relatives in the neighborhood.

Thank you. That certainly looks like the place.

I notice the bright lights are also focused on the end of the culvert, so there was probably something there as well.

Also, that fence doesn't reach the ground where it goes over the ditch. Plenty of room for an animal (or even a person) to go under.

Yes I agree about being able to go under the fence at that spot. I think it was even mentioned in an article that that was probably what he did. Also that drain pipe goes under the road all the way to the other side of the road. Wonder if it is it big enough to crawl through?

Someone posted to YouTube a vid of their drive through the area where the body was found. Perhaps another angle of view to add to the mix.

Jessica Ridgeway's body found in Arvada - YouTube

Ok, I had been reading opinions that he placed the body somewhere, where he did not want it found. If it was placed in and around that area.. IMO He clearly wanted it found. You can see housing units in the background. If he really didnt want it found(IMO), he would of taken the remains up to the Mountains and buried them up there. Never to be found again.

If I am not mistaken, he left the backpack more or less 0.5 miles away from another unrelated elementory school, 6 miles north of where Jessica lived. Leaving it near another school, somewhat in the area of the abduction, and driving in the opposite direction to drop off partial remains in a field.. He appears atleast to me, to be taunting police.

Especially if the FBI profilers(who know more about the area she was found and evidence found), seem to think he is highly organized. Meaning he planned all this out. He is sending a message.. "Look at me!" "Look what I can do!". He is cocky, narcisist.

So I doubt this was a kid, or some teenager with access to a vehicle like some have suggested. He would have to have almost unlimited access to a vehicle. He would, need A lot of time alone to not only abduct her.. But also do whatever horrible things he did to her, kill her, dismember her, and clean up all the mess! All while family is not home.. Along with leaving little evidence(assuming this is the case since they said he was organized). This doesn't seem like some high school kid or young adult who is executing his first murder.

This seems like a cold calculated vetran killer. This has refined his "skills". He leaves little evidence, he appears to be taunting, he was able to abduct a child within at the very most within 0.5 miles of her house, on a school day, with someone waiting for her within that 0.5 miles and none saw a thing. It sorta reminds me of that girl who was abducted in mertle bearch. Just vanished.

I wonder if there is possibly 2 perps involved? The drives, and someone to jump out to snatch her off the street, with no comotion? I guess we will find out. Hope they catch this creep quick.
