Yes, but one can be a registered "Sex Offender" for having been an 18-year-old boy, who slept with his younger teen girlfriend. I'm not saying that's OK, but it happens to some of the nicest, kindest, attractive boys. Those boys can end up getting degrees, and becoming good citizens, but must remain a registered "sex offender". Personally, I find these types of offenders as a whole different breed from those who are creepy old men raping young children. I don't believe that all states list the crime. In the state where I used to live, I believe they just had to register. There was no differeniation b/w the types.

ITA there needs to be a national standard for a tier system in the SO registry. IMO, peeing in public is just uncouth but hardly a sex crime. And statutory rape where the girl is 17 and the boy 19 and the sex is consensual should be categorized apart from baby rapers.

It just muddies up the waters and makes IDing the dangerous offenders that much harder.

Unless he destroyed that part of her body?
IIRC they first said they did not know the gender.
I freaked out at that statement, then i thought more about that.
I am so sorry for thinking this

hi passionflower ::waves::

the news reports i read stated that police did not comment on the gender or the approximate age of the body... so that would be the reporters wording you are commenting on, right? your comment makes sense in this situation.

for example: http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-504083_...ng-if-its-linked-to-missing-10-year-old-girl/

or did you hear LE actually say this?

apparently it is a place where the coward felt familiar enough that he could be undetected if on foot. but, I think he wants to be caught.

if he is experiencing mania/depression, he is likely bipolar/schizophrenic or both and can be managed with proper diagnosis, treatment and support. there is no need to keep feeling the intense emotions that result in homicidal behaviour.

JUST STOP THE CYCLE AND ASK FOR HELP. NOW!

respectfully snipped...

The person who did this is not suffering from psychosis or a psychotic illness like schizophrenia. People suffering from psychosis are experiencing an utter breakdown in their experience of our shared reality. They may experience feeling like they aren't real, or that the world around them is not real, as if it were made from paper, or particles, or cardboard, or ghosts, or automatons. They turn inward, because they are hearing voices that aren't coming from outside, but they also don't recognize them as coming from inside, either. They hear things that may be real but are distorted. They have moments of clarity where they think their mind is playing tricks on them, but then they get caught up in a delusion and forget.

If they do act out in a violent manner, nearly every time they are violent to themselves, whether to put an end to their torment, or to kill themselves before whatever is coming to get them in their conspiracy can get to them. When people experiencing psychosis do act out towards others, it when they feel threatened by that person (i.e. you often hear of mentally ill people lunging at police with knives when confronted). Their entire world has gone topsy-turvy and oftentimes, they don't even recognize the police as police officers, but rather agents of the conspiracy to kill them, or aliens, or as automatons pretending to be humans. It's scary stuff.

It really doesn't make any sense to me that a delusional and psychotic person would have done this. It really doesn't fit the profile.

Psychopathic, though, with pathological narcissism... that is where I'm leaning for sure. They knew exactly what they were doing, and they knew it was wrong.

That video posted indicates that the culvert area is not that isolated. He could have been within an hour or so up to Rocky Mountain national park area where there is tons of deserted space. It seems to me from the video that the place is pretty out in the open.

If he dumped the body Friday night, how could he have dumped it there without raising some suspicion? Would he just have parked on the side of the road and spent 10-15 minutes doing what he needed to do?

By that time, the amber alert was already out. Maybe normally people would not be observant but if word was out about JR wouldn't a car siting on the side of the road alert suspicion?

Even at 1-2 AM wouldn't one or two cars go by in a 10 minute period? (Assuming it took that long.)

Is there a place where he could have parked on the other side and then hiked over land to reach that spot? Does not seem like it. Do we know if it is a private farm or public land?

Still it seems like this perp took a lot of chances in not getting caught when he easily could have driven an hour or two and had unlimited access to barren space

A search for Jessica began Friday night, and hundreds of people volunteered over the weekend to help look for her in Westminster. A backpack belonging to Jessica was found on a sidewalk near the intersection of Andrew Drive and Alpha Court in Superior's Rock Creek neighborhood, prompting the search to broaden into Boulder County on Sunday.

Yes, I do believe this guy is playong some games with LE...Superior, Alpha, Andrew...makes me think that backpack was placed in that specific place after some serious thought...just not a coincidence or random toss of the bag.

Holy crap, just catching up from this afternoon, but that's WAY weird. :what:

It is unlikely that someone who would abduct and murder a 10-year-old girl would also attempt to abduct a 13-year-old boy. That is completely different victimology and pedophiles generally have a certain victim age range/gender.

I don't think it would have taken ten minutes. I doubt it would have taken much more than 1 or 2, and he'd be able to see headlights coming.

Oh man if its the prp, I hope LE finds him and fast.
Do sexual predators seek both girls and boys?

If he used a vehicle to transport her and her body was only in a garbage bag then I'm sure there will be blood in the perp's car regardless of how he tried to clean it. He may have ditched his car by now. JMO

No, they generally do not.

GOLDEN - According to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, someone attempted to abduct a 13-year-old boy in Golden Saturday night.

It happened near 16645 West 2nd Avenue in Golden.

The suspect is described as a white man wearing a red cap and red jersey.

He may have been driving a four-door dark blue sedan.

I read on facebook that the boy's mom took a picture of the car. They will post it soon on https://www.facebook.com/ilike9news

Here's the link to the photo of the car (it's the one in the background, not the Prius in the front)

I think it is unlikely, although SOME perps abuse both boys and girls. But I don't feel like someone who just murdered a 10 yr old girl, in the middle of a high profile case, would brazenly go after a 13 yr old boy while driving a blue noticeable car. It just does not seem like a reasonable scenario to me. But I could be wrong, for sure...

This is a little off subject..but i wonder what the cost would be to the country if DNA was taken from all babies born and put into a data base....that might make people think before they commit a crime like this..and much easier to find someone if they do commit a crime. Probably very expensive...but it would be well worth it to the children in the future.

Expensive and advocates of privacy (which would include me) would fight it with everything we have.

I am not a fan of living in a place where you are considered a criminal until proven innocent.

There is a photo of the car with the guy in it. Can't really see the guy but, the car is easy to see. Maybe someone will know who it is.

Okay, I admit this is off the wall, but about how far would you guess those houses are from the area where the body was found, assuming you were a reasonably good hiker and were walking as direct a line as you could?

The body was found roughly a half mile from the closest house. The hills are not all that steep so you could hike almost directly from the house to the drop spot.
