I have been lurking to catch up on this before posting. I was local to the Jorelys Rivera case which brought me here to WS.

Most of my questions were answered in the earlier threads, most of my ideas posted by others, so I have little to add so far, just 2 things that popped into my mind on the last threads

1. Swabbing people for DNA doesn't necessarily mean that LE has the perp's DNA, it could be a method of judging their reaction and compiling a list of those who refuse, or storing it to compare with hopeful future additional evidence yet to be discovered.

2. Teaching about stranger danger, I see many people mentioned they spare their kids the details. Of course it depends on the child's age and maturity level, but my choice as a parent has been NOT to spare my chidren (preteens) the details. I don't want them to live in fear, but I believe that if one day they are approached, I want it in their memory banks that some people rape and dismember kids. (I am aware we don't know if either of those things happened in this case) because I feel that knowledge will inspire them to do everything in their power to allude the potential abductor. I think movies and sugar coating have some kids thinking that getting kidnapped means being taken to live with another family and worse case scenario is missing their family, and I want mine to know that the danger is far greater.
They are both active girls , not paranoid or fearful, but very aware of their surroundings. For example, some young teens in my neighborhood were hanging out in an empty open for sale house, and my daughter said, "what if a carpet guy or something came in there and found Jane in there? That's dangerous!" so I think my tactic is working... My point is that if kids of a certain age are aware that that van pulling up might contain a sadistic killer, they will react stronger than if they are unaware such horrible things exist.

My thoughts are with the family & community. Hoping for a swift arrest.
Sorry my first post on this case rambled so long :)

Hey girl! (((Hugs)))

Great post.

It certainly looks like there's something going on with the drain, but it wouldn't have to be her body. I notice that you can see the red markers and so forth in that photo as well -- which makes it look like maybe he parked northbound and left evidence across the road as he carried her?

Do we know when that photo was taken?

It looks to me like a Chevy Cobalt. If you squint your eyes you can see a spoiler on top on the trunk. Here's a pic of a 2009:

Very similar! But the rear lights look different. In the pic by the mom, the tail lights seem to wrap around to the side of the car, if I am seeing it correctly.

I cannot help but wonder what are the circumstances concerning this attempted abduction of the 13 y.o. Why would the perp be sitting in broad daylight outside the boys home long enough for Mom to get the picture. Something just feels off. Will wait and see as thing unfold, but still something seems hinky....IMHO

I remember that right after Lyric and Elizabeth were abducted in Iowa, there were several attempted abductions reported in nearby towns. But a few of them ended up being false alarms.

The road (on the map) runs east/west. I'm not sure if that covered end is the side of the road she was on, or the other side.

I don't imagine the news posted the story immediately? It could be 30 minutes after, and that makes a lot of difference with the sky. I know here (florida) it will say the sun sets at 7:30 but it doesn't get dark until around 8.

It wasn't the news causing me to question the time. [ame="http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showpost.php?p=8453142&postcount=131"]It was the time of the post in the scanner thread as it happened "live."[/ame]

I realize it doesn't get dark immediately at sunset - but even where I live in CA the sky has a dusky hew before sunset starts, but certainly after that.

I don't really even see the portion of sky we see in the photo the mom took looking like dusk, let alone 10 minutes after sunset. But that could just be me/here.

There are so many emo wannabe-vigillantes that I think it actually makes LE's job more difficult. I hope no one gets hurt or worse because they are driving a car the color of the one in that photo and panicky people who think they are going to solve this case pull out their guns 'n ammo and go-a-hunting and do what non-critical thinking dufus' tend to do.

Subaru Impreza

It's Colorado, 50/50 chance it's a Subaru. ;-)

But we don't know if the blue car guy is a killer at all. He may be trying to abduct boys, but we don't know that he has ever been successful doing so. I am furious as well, but we can't jump to conclusions that the guy is a killer. imo

I know we don't KNOW he's a killer. But regardless, I want this 🤬🤬🤬 off our streets.

eTA, if I take the anger out of my statement, ;) , what I mean is I hope every person here in CO keeps their eyes open and calls the police as soon as he shows his face. He may not be the killer of Jessica, but he's a pervert predator regardless.

Hi, I think he's trying to make the person mad! Even if he/she is ugly it wouldnt be something they'd want people to know. In my estimation it is a psycho!! I pray they find him/her soon. I mention her thinking of Sandra Cantu. Beautiful child.:seeya:

If that was his intention, I hope he ran it by the Jessica investigators before making his statement public.

He's not in on the local investigation (or he would have to zip his lips), so he really doesn't know for sure all the details. Depending on what the investigators know, taunting the perp may be a good move or it may be the worst move anyone could make.

Dietz is not in a position to know, so I hope he ran it by the investigation first.

Hello! I just recently joined the forum. I found the link to this site on Google, when I was looking up more information on what was the initial disappearance of Jessica. Now, it has come to a tragic ending.

It was referenced in one of the past messages about the inconsistencies about the body. The monster who did this took the time to remove the hands and head, possibly. But yet, put the torso where it could be found.

I am only speculating, but could it be possible that he maybe did want to hide it better? But something spooked him? Maybe he had it in the trunk of his car and saw a LE vehicle. Or maybe was even pulled over for a broken tail light? Something like that? And that left him so shaken, that he decided to get rid of it ASAP. Just speculation on my part. I don't know. I just hope they catch whoever did this. I can't even begin to imagine what he parent's are going through.[/QUOTE

Some guys on the 9news fb are saying it's a Mazda Protege, so I put a pic he linked to and it looks like it...

The telephone poles are on the south side of the road. The blue tarp is over the side where the body was found.

That actually looks like the best match to me.

Yes, that really does look like a match.

The road was CLOSED until recently? Why? Was it being repaired or something? Has this been reported in the media (I missed it somehow if it was!). That seems significant to me! Did he know it had just re-opened? If so, how and why did he know this?

Could be coincidence, or, it could be because he lives near there, or maybe lives near enough to there that he needs to drive there on a commute?

I agree ... the passenger windows are divided, not so in the Subaru.
