This is great. I don't see Jonelle's name on the victim list but maybe that's because they don't need him to research her case. A grand jury generally means a suspect as Oviedo mentioned earlier.

This is wonderful news!! I’d given up hope that anything would/could be done to obtain justice for this young lady. Very promising!

A grand jury in Colorado is set to investigate the death of a Colorado girl who went missing in 1984. Her body was found last year, and a former Idaho candidate for governor was previously named as a person of interest in the case.

Steve Pankey, who also unsuccessfully ran for Twin Falls County sheriff in May, last year was named as a person of interest in the disappearance and killing of Jonelle Matthews. On Tuesday, Pankey told the Statesman that he has been subpoenaed to testify.

The Greeley Police Department previously said it had multiple persons of interest in the case.

I went looking for an update and this is all I found. I know it’s from August 18th but it’s a second source which is always good. I don’t know the normal timeline for an grand jury inquisition to be completed. It’s been 5 weeks since it was announced. Hopefully we’ll hear something soon.

The discovery of her body near kersey where her father worked at the time of her disappearance was a huge break in the case. The property was owned by stroh family trust. Neither of these leads was pursued.

Steve Pankey is indicted on murder, kidnapping charges in Jonelle's killing. She died from a gunshot to the forehead and was found wearing the same clothes she went missing in.
