Also wanted to clear a few things up from some previous posts I have read, they are too far back to qoute, but someone had mentioned our community did not seem to be responding enough to this, well in our defense this was not made public here in Greeley until late Tuesday night on the local newspaper website and then on Wednesday morning there was only a brief article about it that quickly fell to the bottom of the page until enough of us complained that is should be first priority until she is found.

There were no visible large scale ground searches going on, no warnings at our schools...nothing! I have to be honest is has been strange. We only live a few blocks Northwest of the apartment building and as I was driving around on Thursday I was amazed I did not see one flyer anywhere...so I came home downloaded the flier and began puting them up my self and to this day there are no more that what I put up. I guess it seems very hard to get involved on a large scale and help when the family just isn't out there, a lady from Evans went to the apt. to ask if AW needed anything and she said "no" so the lady proceeded to ask for any fliers and AW handed her a stack of fliers and shut the door. My son goes to an indoor skatepark here in town that is in the other side of the building of Higher Grounds, which is the teen hangout that they said KW frequented, so on Thursday night I was talking to the person who runs both and he had not heard a word about a girl being missing...what?? I guess I am very new to this happening in my community..thank goodness..but this is not what I would have expected.

I guess I am just wondering what else do you do when you want to help??

Now that is really odd that the Higher Grounds person was not aware of Kayleah since a candlelight vigil is scheduled there for 4/9, this Friday.

rbstalk1- Welcome and thank you. It is nice to have people who are in the area or know a family member to help us move on to other things so thank you. Please feel free to add anything that we're not seeing, I'm in Pennsylvania so I have only the internet, your view is better. I assure you EVERYONE on this board only wants 1 thing, to have Kayleah come home safe.

Thank you for the welcome! Just to be clear I don't know this family although I have a son who is about the same age as MJ..AW's son, and knows who he is but not personally. I have not come across alot of people who do know the family but I have noticed everyone wants to help...it seems to instantly become personal when a child in your community is missing, they seem to become everyone's child in a sense. It is a very helpless feeling to not have any sense of how to help, and with there not being alot of information out there about her, her friends, etc...it really makes it hard. And I don't know why there have been no warnings at our schools or in the community..is that normal?? I mean I am overly protective with my kids anyway...but in a community where really nothing happens like this, seems the LE would just want to highten everyone especially with springs break being this week, we have had no sense of the rest of us being in any danger...just business as usual, but it's not...

The lady that started the facebook page for KW contacted me via FB because I had some pics and articles about Higher Grounds and The Farm, she needed some contact info since she was interested in holding it out there, so I contaced the person who runs it to give him her number, and at that time he had not heard anything about anyone being missing, so it was only after our conversation and of course being contacted about the vigil that anyone out there was aware of it.

Hi Rbstark1, welcome and thanks for your input! I live in Wy but had to go to DIA Thursday; I looked all over for a downloadable flier so I could put them up in the truck stops along I-80, but there wasn't one then. There is one now, thankfully. The Post took forever in reporting this, and the Boulder paper still hasn't even mentioned it! I would imagine mom is overwhelmed, depressed and beside herself. I know at first, it was the family and the family alone putting up fliers. I'm glad people are stepping up and the word is getting out there, finally.

Thank you for contacting the person and for the clarification :) and a big welcome.

I'm new to WebSleuths...well, I've followed threads for some time, but this is my first time posting.

With Kayleah, I found it interesting on Nancy Grace that one of the investigators thought she was not a victim of an SO because of her height and weight (that SOs tend to go for "thin girls"). I also noticed that there were 133 SO in the area -- 133???? Unbelievable number!!

Also, I did not get the impression that the inhaler had been found, unless I'm missing something. Is LE just asking that people be watchful if they happen to find it?

I'm still placing bets that she ran away; although the number of SOs in the area still blows my mind. :banghead:

Bringing this information forward for those who may not know - you can look for that red inhaler - LE says don't touch, they want the evidence from it. This is about all we know thus far.

Welcome. LE put pic out so if someone finds the inhaler to not touch it but call LE. It is one item they know for sure she had so would be extremely important if found.

rbstark1- again thank you for coming aboard. I agree when a child is missing, it really does become everyones child. This is certainly a parents worst nightmare. I agree it's sad that you ( only a few blocks away) had no clue. I'm also so glad that you're hearing that everyone wants to help ( and that you took the bull by the horns and hung flyers). I think that AW is so overwelmed with fear that she just doesn't know what to do or who to trust. I'm glad she has spoken and from what LE says, she is being very helpful to them. I think keeping ears and eyes open ( this goes for your son especially) and hanging flyers and just keeping the conversations with everyone about this child is what they need.

On a seperate note, are you seeing people walking around that area looking/searching? Has your son seen MJ since all of this?

Just a little more about our community here is Greeley, years ago it used to be a somewhat sheltered farming and college community, but with our lovely JBS Swift meat plant we have had an influx of legal and illegal immigrants not only from Mexico but also from Somalia and various other countries all coming here to work, along with that has come a rash of drug trafficking and gang activity. It's not what it used to be. This area where KW was walking I would consider anything but safe, the mall has become a hang out for alot of drug and gang activity as well as the neighborhoods surrounding it. Plus it seems we have an enormous amount of SO's and SFO's for our small area. It is a very diverse town for no more residents that we have. I just think alot of people have not adjusted to the times and are naive about what really goes on here. It is also very hard for kids KW's age as there is NOTHING for kids to do but rome the streets, hang at the mall, there is no safe place for kids to do kid things on a regular basis. Ok I will stop rambling..LOL

Thanks for the local insight. And with that, the walk to the birthday party becomes even more scary, imo ~ even in broad daylight on a Sunday afternoon. Almost anything could've happened to her, whether it involved a SO or not. :( MOO

Hello -- I'm new to Websleuths and am following this case.

I was surprised to hear on Nancy Grace that LE did not think KW had been abducted because she did not fit the stereotype due to her height and weight (SOs tend to pick "thin girls.") I was also shocked to see 133 or so SOs in the area. That number is horrific!

I had not understood that the inhaler had been found but that LE wanted people to "watch for it." Am I reading that right?

I pray that she is safe and ran off....and is found soon.

It was Pat Brown the profiler that made the rude comment about Kayleah NOT LE. The inhaler has NOT been found,

Sorry for the double post...couldn't figure out if my first post was up!!

Thanks for the info, RubyRed..I'm glad LE did not making the comment about Kayleah. I was just appalled when I heard that...yes, extremely rude and unfeeling, especially given the circumstances. And I have to imagine it is also untrue: a pedophile is looking for a CHILD...I don't know that anything more specific needs to be present other than the child is innocent, underage, and vulnerable...all of which apply here.

I drive that route by there house at least twice a day, it is visible from the main highway the runs through Greeley, and this area is not somewhere where you would see people walking around, so you would definatley notice even one person let alone a group and other than tons of media vans have seen nothing else in the area. I did read today they were searching alot of the "wooded" areas around (I just have to laugh cuz nothing is wooded around here) which does include the area about two blocks south of my sub division but I did not check that out as I am pregnant and have food poisoning today...and no my son has not seen MJ, but that is not unusal as he would really only see them maybe once or twice a month if that as they do not hang in the same type of crowds.

I am sure Pat Brown meant that most sexual predators of children are attracted (as awful as that sounds) to small children as that is their thing...also the smaller and lighter, the easier to overpower...PB did not say it well, apparently, but do not think this was a comment on Kayleah's size at all, except to say that she was not typical of the size of child a predator thinks they can easily and quickly handle, if she weighs 145 lbs.

An very shocked to hear in a small town that this disappearance was not made top news right away...and that it took most of the week for the whole town to know? That does not seem right at all, but I guess they are trying to make up for it now.

Searchers Comb Fields Near Missing Girl's Home
]Dozens of volunteers joined the Weld County sheriff's posse on foot and on horseback searching through undeveloped areas of long grasses, trees and bushes less than a mile from where the girl was last seen[
No obvious clues were found Saturday. However, he said searchers may have collected some items for investigation. For example, he said something like a pop can or water bottle might be taken in to be fingerprinted.

Thank you for that article. It also says

Investigators planned to do another search Sunday along 29th Street where there are some abandoned builidings. Tymkowych said they may eventually call in divers to search a nearby pond as well.

So sad that on Easter Sunday there might be a 12 yo, Kayleah, still missing...

The Federal Bureau of Investigation, Greeley police and Weld County Sheriff's deputies talk to motorists at a roadblock in the parking lot of the Greeley Mall on Friday afternoon. The three agencies were looking for more information about 12-year-old Kayleah Wilson, who has been missing since Sunday.

Security cameras

Police said they have looked at all the security camera video from businesses near the Greeley Mall to look for evidence in the case of the disappearance of 12-year-old Kayleah Wilson. Police are asking for anyone else who may have security camera video from the area to contact them. Call the Greeley police at (970) 350-9600. The FBI tip-line is 1-800-CALL-FBI.
