From the mall, if you take Hwy 34 west, it would only 45 minutes to be in the "forests" of the foothills and would take an hour maybe a little longer to be in the Estes Park, Rocky Mountain National Park area. He also had Hwy 85, north, and hour to Wyoming, which is very rural, only a couple small towns along the way and the Pawnee National Grasslands. Hwy 85, south, 20 minutes to Brighton area and another 20 minutes to Denver. This area is rural also, but a little more populated. If he went east on Hwy 34 that would take him to I-76 (east goes to Nebraska, west back into Denver). This drive is also very rural. All of these routes are mainly rural once you leave Greeley proper which is a huge concern to me, lots of big areas of ranch land, farm land and very short drive to an isolated area.

Thanks so much angie! Early this am it seemed like an important question and now that I read the possibilities - not so good! Way to many possibilities. The person who did this took Kayleah in broad daylight on a Sunday afternoon - somewhat bold if you ask me.

He has a car - he is at the mall on a sunny, Sunday afternoon - he is in the parking lot - maybe waiting for the perfect victim to walk on through - or does he know Kayleah will be passing through?

Was Kayleah lured by someone asking for directions? Asking about the mall? According to locals, the mall is virtually empty on a Sunday so is this person a - social risk taker? Does he have a reason for being at the mall? Or does he usually sit home on Sundays looking at child 🤬🤬🤬🤬, scoping children on social sites?

No crime scene - no clues - no witnesses - no Kayleah - just like our Lindsey, everything is a guess.
all just MOO :(

It speaks volumes IMO that the B.A.U. was brought in to profile this.

Not stupid at all. It's a division of the FBI that profiles the criminal. They don't take on/do every case out there and there are certain criteria that must be met for them to do an analysis.

Oh, how I pray for Kayleah's safe and prompt return. Please universe, guide those looking in the right direction, be it by chance or direct thought.

Sarx, what are your thoughts regarding the BAU getting involved? Just wondering, I have no idea what they are or what thier criteria is for getting involved. Are these general behaviours of someone who is a child predator or someone they think is specific to Kayleahs case? tia! :)

You are so right, it really does. It just breaks my heart...

btw...got on the phone this a.m. and got all the information and posters to the two major oil companies and the pipeline companies that service all of the area around Greeley. They had not been contacted yet, hopefully, this will open the search a little bit now that there will be dozens more people keeping an eye out, on a daily basis, especailly in these areas that are isolated.

Personally (and just my opinion), it tells me that they feel that she was most likely abducted either by stranger or acquaintance. They would not spend the time and resources if they thought she was a mere runaway. The reason for the BAU is that while there can be similarities in rapists/murderers/SO, there are also key differences with each case/person and this is what they do, pick out those differences to narrow the field. So, yes, the things that they posted are in part generalized, but in part very specific to her case.

I think this coupled with the Mom's continued pleas to come home safe and that they don't care where she's been there not mad also leans towards an acquaintance.

Here's a link to the FBI page that gives a great overview to the different units in the NCAVC (National Center for the Analysis of Violent Crime).

The Behavioral Analysis Unit also developed this. it is very informative.

Child Abduction Response Plan:

offers an introduction that specifies the most challenging aspect of a missing child complaint is the determination of whether it is an actual abduction, a runaway child, a thrown away child, or a fictitious report designed to cover up a family problem.

Go back LE and re-interview-all the sex offenders in the area of the mall. Keepgoing back. Pressure......some SOB got her...and he lives nearby. Look for any sudden moves-hell yeah. This case is very solveable. If I were LE I would set up shop-I would rent one of those apartments and just WATCH and LISTEN. Undercover works wonders-and so do snitches. Look for/at the loners.....

  • #595
HOWEVER! If the perp was visiting one of those people at the apartments or the neighborhood this will take time-----so keep canvassing....footwork solves these kinds of crimes-weary footwork and doggedness. And random conversations.

I feel this was a crime of opportunity-I keep telling my younger daughter who takes all kinds of chances and thinks she is invincible-DO NOT MAKE YOURSELF SOMEONE'S OPPORTUNITY. I try to tell her that a perp full time job is to look out the window and wait like a predator and spot the opportunity.

Thank you so much for doing that angiejean, it will help having many more eyes looking for her. Sorry not to post sooner just found out my mom's cancer has spread to the lungs and liver so been a bit out of it. I will be going to the search this weekend so prayer's for direction and all things hidden in darkness to be brought to light. It is time to find Kayleah and bring her home.

Okay. Look. She walked everywhere. That means she said hi to a lot of people and she was known in the neighborhood. On her way to the mall area does she have the means to cut through some apartment complexes? Any convenience stores on the way? Has anyone actually walked her path-literally 'walked' it. A decoy or bait person could do that and see what comes out of the woodwork. I am just reaching but honestly.... It will take going to Ground Zero and knowing/meeting/seeing the people in the neighborhood to find clues. Need some undercover young looking female cops to hang out for weeks even. I know I know-budget.
When you walk through a neighborhood you make acquaintances and learn to likethem or trust them. Esp a young naive sweet girl like her. And she would not think to tell any of her friends or family 'Oh, I have a friend 2 blocks up who I see all the time etc.' She just trusts it and finds it normal and not something to announce. Just thinking out loud here.

I tell my 9 year old daughter the same thing and my mom told me the same thing as well.
