Until she has been found, her relatives have hope. My feeling is, finding her in a mental hospital or even on the street might be much better than the alternative.

Also, her relatives might be reading this thread. I still would not be that categorical, for their sake.
I am sure that they have seen some of the victim blaming that she has a mental illness and is responsible for her own disappearance, even though, they have stated again and again that she is a responsible person who has never had any mental illnesses.

If she used her real name and if she allows it. Sometimes they won't share that information with anyone even the police. Just because some will share that information, some will not. That's been my experience with my family members.

I'm in-house counsel for a health system. If the FBI shows up and wants to know if the subject of a national missing persons investigation is being treated at one of our facilities, we'll tell them. We won't tell them why. We won't release the information to the newsmedia, nor will we confirm it if any reporters call, but we will tell LE. MOO. I'm not in Colorado, but I would think they operate pretty much the same way.

Her phone pinged several hundred miles away from where her mother lives.

It doesn’t appear that she was headed there, as this is very likely foul play.

They did look at the possibility that she left on a plane, but they have come up blank there, as one would suspect.
There is not necessarily a record of a private passenger in a private plane any more than there would be in a car. iirc LE said no planes are missing from her work. In an scenario with a culprit from her work life, she only thought she might fly somewhere. He would have intended to get her to his house on a pretext of forgot something, or a bash on the head. Or maybe they did fly somewhere.

So how does she get treatment for over a month, without a name or insurance?

If she was in a car accident or anything like that, unconscious and unable to provide info, she wouldn't be denied treatment. It's done more than people realize. And when it does happen, the hospital ends up calling the police and the police work to identify the person.

I understand people hope she’s safe, as we all do, but some of these theories are just extremely outlandish. It seems we’re bending over backwards trying to find the 0.001% chance that PF isn’t involved, when the likely answer is sitting in front of us. LE is only focused on 1 person as well.

I pray she shows up tomorrow completely unharmed, but unfortunately that’s not going to happen. I just hope that 10 day headstart didn’t make this one unsolvable.

Seems he’s trying the complete opposite approach of CW too, you have to think he paid at least a little attention to this case being in the same state..

It’s important to be realistic, and not use hope to color our thought process.

We all hope that she is alive, and her being hospitalized would certainly be better than the alternative.

I don’t conflate what I want to happen, with what I think will happen though.

Reality always wins out.

This will not end well, no matter what you, I, or anyone else hopes.

This is how I look at it.

Each time any idea of where she might be is offered, someone gots upset and even offended.

In real life, we are past the time when any scenario would reflect negatively on Kelsey. It is almost a month since she was last seen.

She has disappeared; so question is, is she alive or not, and in either case, where is she to be found?

Let us focus on where to look for her. All theories go, because that would give some ideas as to what places to check.

My personal feeling is that somehow she ended up in Idaho, because the ping was sent from there, and because there was a plausible reason for her family to not be anxious about her for a week. So, they knew that she was traveling somewhere, or busy with something or could not easily access her phone. And they were OK with it.

So I would discuss the possibility of finding the traces of anyone traveling to Idaho and how close to Gooding this trip ended.

If you have any valid reason to believe that her track ended at PF's farm, what is your hunch about her whereabouts? What would you use for hiding if you were PF?

If she made it to Idaho, then I doubt her fiance had anything to do with it because you can't just leave livestock without care and if he had others care for his cattle, then the police would have known about it. I find it interesting that there seems to be no information about her students or other people at the airport that she works at. I wonder who they are and what they know.....

A question.

Let us assume someone traveled to ID with at least that phone.

If PF, or anyone else involved, has made that trip to Gooding area, he most certainly traveled along major highways, I-80 and I-84.

A person should have filled in his gas tank. Probably before the trip in Colorado, and then somewhere on the way.

Either the credit card should reflect the gas sales, or if a person paid cash, usually in not so densely populated states, the strangers are noticeable. The person should have either eaten somewhere, or bought something at 7-11 when filling in the tank. I doubt that someone brought the tanks with him. If he did, there should be some stain where the gas tanks were?

In short, is there a way to check cameras or even ask owners of gas stops? Logically, if I wanted to be unnoticed, I'd use major highways and pay cash, but even in these case, someone might remember CO plates. Flyers along the highways? Of course a person might have used a smaller gas station off the beaten path, but rural folks would be nosy.

Another way to get gas unnoticed would be Costco gas stations, this is a possibility, lots of people going through, and there is a place to eat there, but Costco has cameras. I wonder if Costcos along the way have been checked?

Another issue, 1600 miles means one needs to sleep. Either a motel but again, rural folks remember strangers, or drive at night, and sleep at daytime at truckers areas, in the car (forgot how they are called. Where truck drivers might have rest). Has anyone checked those locations? Some local truck drivers who would regularly travel along that route and might remember a guy dozing off in a car with CO plates?

I wish we knew the answers to these questions. Hopefully tomorrow brings a break in the case!

Do You Recognize This Man?

This is just the first example I pulled up, but it's standard procedure. The cops are called and pictures of the patient are published.

But what happens after they are identified? Are they billed?

He lives on 35 acres with a few head of cattle and a couple of horses. His mother could have thrown a bale of hay into their enclosures.

ITA about the people she works with maybe knowing something that could help the investigation. I'm not saying they are at all involved in her disappearance, but they might be able to provide some insight into KB and PG's relationship. She may have opened up to someone there and let them know how things were.

@Jennfer17, in 21st century very few people would view mental illness as "victim blaming".

Here is a newpaper with a nice pic of the ranch. But if you scroll down, there is a larger pic of Kelsy with the car seat. Does anyone see a 1 year old in there? Was the baby very tiny? The average 1 yr old is 30 inches and 23 lbs. Could a 1 year old of that size be in that crumpled blanket?

Usually, if they have insurance the claim gets submitted to the insurance company. If they don't, the hospital usually ends up eating the cost. Not all hospitals will admit people like this, but any emergency room/hospital that gets any government funding can't refuse treatment. Private hospitals can, and sometimes do.
