I was also a new person. This case did it. So relatable. As I stated in an earlier post, I have a daughter close to KB's age, also super successful, driven, grandkid same age, husband we think the world of....

I also "lurked" as a guest on and off for the past few years.

Great post. I wanted to add that from that first press conference, CB insisted that they were engaged and called PF the fiance. The police chief in response to a reporter's question said he is the father of KB's baby and let's leave it at that. (I am paraphrasing).

This was Dec 10, and that was 8 days after the missing person report. LE was directly contradicting CB and certainly not confirming CB's "engaged fiance" statement. It was not PF telling that story to CB.

Additionally, when couples are involved seriously, they tend to have a collection of personal property inside each others homes. The media reported on one dry toothbrush in KB's home, not two.

I think the social or romantic relationship ended back in or before May 2018 when her patents bought the townhome for her.
Since you brought up the first press conference, here is what was actually asked, and what was answered:

Reporter: Did they live together? Are they separated?
Chief: I do not know the relationship st-
CB:They have never lived together.
Reporter: Never lived together, but they are engaged. Is that correct?
Chief: Correct. (You can see CB at the edge of the frame and she nods as the Chief says “correct”. She appears to say one word as she nods, might be “yes” or “right”.

As to the point in the video that you referenced (which came at the end and was in fact the last question), the reporter wasn’t asking the chief about relationship status at all. He asked if Patrick was a suspect. The chief responded that at this point Patrick is the father of Kelsey’s child. Clearly his way of dodging the suspect aspect of the question. Not an attempt to address relationship status (which in fact had already been addressed earlier).

That would be a possibility that she was abducted walking to a restaurant or bar, but the phone ping in Idaho makes that scenerio unlikely - plus the text messages
That phone ping in ID makes every scenario, including PF guilty, unlikely.

40% PF
40% work acquaintance or romance
20% stalker, suicide, self-disappeared
<1% random abduction, hospital, fell off cliff while hiking, aliens

BBM. Why has PF's lawyer said that they had a relationship with normal ups and downs?
And where was the 'dry toothbrush' mentioned?
How would the media know how many toothbrushes were in her home?

Secret rehab or mental health facility is a theory that has become pretty popular on various missing women's cases (I don't think I've seen that theory pop up in a missing man's case yet, interestingly).

I have never seen it borne out.

Simply, a rehab center would disclose the fact that the person is in their center, to LE, and the search and investigation would be over. LE would issue a statement: "The missing woman has been located and is safe and no further information will be released at this time due to privacy reasons. We greatly appreciate the public's assistance and concern in this matter."

Kelsey Berreth is not in a secret rehab or mental health facility as the FBI and CBI frantically search for her. IMO.
Boom!- hope that whole discussion ends now

I agree it is unlikely in this day and age. I have to wonder if movies like "Changeling" keeps this possibility in peoples mind.

Changeling (film) - Wikipedia

It is a great movie if anyone has not had a chance to see it. It covers loosely the true case of the "1928 Wineville Chicken Coop Murders in Mira Loma, California." and it has a haunting scene about a time in years past when someone apparantly could end up being thrown in a phsychiatric ward against their will.

If lots of people have seen that movie like I have it stays in the back of your mind that things like that could happen.

I surely hope and expect that in todays environments that all hospital or care type settings and facilities are compelled to report the names of people under their care if LE inquires about a person or a missing person is making national news.

Folks move on from the 'mental health' and 'Autism/Asperger' discussion. There is nothing in MSM to substantiate going down these paths of discussion.

This press release is dated the same day as the press conference.
Also, in that press conference when they get to the Q and A the very first question was about why PF wasn't there and the answer "you would have to ask him". The followup question by the same reporter was "Is he cooperating?" and the answer was "At this point, yes". If PF was lawyered up at that point I expect that the answer would have been "He has only spoken to us through his attorney" but we don't get that kind of answer from law enforcement until the second press conference when the police chief is asked if PF is still cooperating.

New to the site. Very interesting/baffling case! As someone who doesn't follow ongoing missing persons forums, it seems like the possibility of suicide doesnt get nearly as much attention as I would think it should. It's always tough to gauge where someone is at mentally and the only people (that I've seen) speakimg to her character are her family members. The same ones who seem to be clueless to the actual relationship KB had with her fiance. The text to work could be KB looking out for coworkers/boss she might care for by giving them a heads-up she won't be in the following week. Maybe she was buying herself time.

If my wife went missing, I'd immediately get a lawyer and follow their advice as well...I don't think it's all that strange at all.

Again it's all new to me, but thought I'd throw in my two cents. Really enjoy following everyone's posts on here.

I think its reasonable to assume a woman who leaves her one year old child for a week, would be concerned that the child might not adjust well to the absence. That problem can be easily reduced with tools like Skype or FaceTime. I'm curious whether those programs were installed on her phone and if so, did the boyfriend appear on the contact list. And she on his. I also wonder how much time she typically spent on a computer. How often does a person traveling alone for a week do so, without a laptop or tablet--and especially if they planned to use Skype

How would the media know how many toothbrushes were in her home?
I think it was her brother who reported that her toothbrush was in the home. Not dry, or the number of toothbrushes. I imagined that it was electric toothbrush if he commented that a toothbrush was there.

Possibly to throw suspicion on PF. Maybe he's got an enemy and hurting Kelsey is how they got their revenge? Now, all points lead to PF and there's been little said by LE to make us feel differently. What if that was by design?

Possibly, but not likely. I think those texts were sent to buy time (which it did) and create an alibi (which may backfire big time) and the only person that needed that really bad was PF. Besides, what the perp can't manipulate is the digital information that existed before she went missing.

Yeah---I don't know. I'm reluctant to post wild, speculative stories about how something might have happened.

However, I do think it is worth exploring that she might have left her home on foot to walk down to the restaurants and bars after PF picked up the child. That would certainly explain why only her purse and her phone appear to be missing. And maybe she was walking down to meet PF. Or maybe someone else. Or maybe she was going by herself and met someone.

But I hope LE has questioned everyone at those restaurants and bars, and looked for any security footage that might still exist.

I think we can effectively rule out that she would have actually made it to one of those places and interacted with anyone. Here is why.

First press conference, the chief says that PATRICK “was the last person known to talk to Kelsey face to face, according to our investigation.” So they had not turned up anyone - and no one had come forward - who spoke to Kelsey after Patrick did.

So I guess if we’re going down that path, she would have to have been abducted before she got to the establishment.

I agree and I have faith that they will break the case and find out what happened. Hopefully soon.
There is one thing that I have not been able to shake though. This is pure speculation and since we have heard that the father may have relatives currently or in the past in LE then I have been wondering if part of the delay in getting the investigation full throttle may have been due to some LE ties that may have been known to him. Does anyone else think that could be possible?
I would hate to think that and I guess it may not matter at this point but I am wondering if there was any internal LE pressure to not dive into the case as much as could have been done at the beginning. I suppose if its ever determined that anything like that happened then I would hope LE could take action against others if they found out they were led astray at the beginning.
All JMO and speculating.
Woodland Park PD is very small, and if not for the CBI and FBI involvement, I would suspect the same. Considering LE did not have knowledge of KB until 12/2, I think the investigation is solid. MOO

That is an excellent point. If a stranger/acquaintance abducted her, why the need to stall for more time? The only person the stall really benefits is PF because it gives him a reason not to worry about where she is.
