I’ve been busy, so I haven’t been able to share in the enjoyment of today’s arrest.

Looks like Cowboy Pat caught himself in his own lasso.

I'm curious to know if any HRD k9's were an asset in this case during the search warrants of property. Did their exceptional noses, training and in tune handlers alert on anything? Did it help investigators close in and move a step closer to the arrest of PF. If so, good boys and girls. Extra ear scratches for them.

I do hope that when the warrant is released that it is very detailed.

Moo because with a high-powered criminal attorney, I would expect that they would waive the preliminary hearing so that more details do not come out to the public.

What I don’t get (along with everything else) is how PF could go to such extremes establishing that he was nowhere near Kelsey, yet he couldn’t “act innocent” and plead publicly for her safe return? One would think he would at least go through the motions after how much he already had invested in establishing his innocence.

He already saw where that got CW. And I don't think he's a good actor. He could barely contain his rage with the media. I'm certain his lawyer told him to say nothing to the media and that was good advice.

That’s an interesting thought that I saw someone mention the other day I hadn’t thought of before. What if she was and he really felt trapped and wanted to get rid of her?? No matter what he’s a sick evil but that would make it even more so.

If they can now assist in finding KB's body, I would be more than happy to fly out there to not only give them plenty of ear scratches, but a few steaks as well!

Wow, I missed the PC, but thanks to those who posted here so I could see it. So happy the baby is with the Berreths. The solicitation charge? I would guess that would be the phone being taken to ID. I can't even begin to guess who would have taken it there for him.

Here are some examples as to why the woman with grey hair was handcuffed IF she hadn't been arrested (which I think is undetermined at this time). Officers can handcuff someone

• When executing a warrant. The U.S. Supreme Court affirmed the right of police officers to use handcuffs to detain occupants of premises being searched pursuant to a search warrant in Muehler v. Mena in 2005. The Court had previously found in Michigan v. Summers (in 1981) that handcuffing an occupant during a search of the premises was not a violation of the Fourth Amendment’s prohibition on the unreasonable seizure of a person.

• For officer safety purposes. The same rationale that allows officers to handcuff occupants of premises being searched also applies to other situations in which an officer feels he or she may be at risk. The handcuffing of an arrestee is not based on rigid criteria. It is determined by the nature of each situation as perceived by the officer.”If an officer feels that placing a person in handcuffs is the best way to ensure his or her own safety, then a court would not likely find that the officer had violated the rights of the person being detained.

• While a person is in custody. A person who has already been arrested and taken into custody may be handcuffed while in custody, even while appearing in court.

• When there is probable cause to place you under arrest. Although police are not obligated to place a suspect who is being arrested into handcuffs or other restraints, officers may do so if they feel that it is necessary for their own protection.

Well every time I watch Live PD it annoys me that LE across the country make it their standard practice even at simple traffic stops to place people in handcuffs. Even when the individual is greatly outnumbered by the number of LE on scene. Every time an LE says “you’re not under arrest, you’re being detained”, I want the citizen to say, “Dude, I was being detained BEFORE the handcuffs! I was detained when you pulled me over!”

Standing on the side of the road in handcuffs is an unnecessary humiliation, IMHO. Potentially your family or friends or neighbors are passing by, and it has all the appearance that you’re being arrested. It’s never happened to me, I’ve never had handcuffs on me, but I still feel bad for those who experience it who didn’t commit a crime. Off my soapbox now.

I agree. I've made the same observation.

There is a ton of research documenting the relationship between animal abuse and domestic abuse. I have long been involved in animal rescue; I remember a haunting poster in the Wash DC shelter. One face, half of which was a dog the other a child. Something to the effect ‘once he abuses the dog, the child is in danger.’

Law enforcement is certain that Kelsey's phone is in Idaho but they haven't recovered it nor have they offered any information as to how it got there.

IMO but I think the person who took the phone to Idaho is the one that gave LE info or PF told someone he took the phone/her to Idaho and that’s who talked. With as certain as LE are of this had to be one of those.

So happy to hear Baby K is with Kelsey’s family now. I feel relieved and glad they can have at least her precious innocence to bring them joy, a real part of Kelsey left for them.

Solicitation of murder, wow. I wonder if conspiracy charges will be tacked on at some point, to him and whomever he apparently tried to conspire with.

Just knowing they cut through that chain to arrest him brings me a strange satisfaction, after seeing his death glare to the reporter yesterday as he fastened it.

Colorado is spoiling us. I'm so impressed with LE in that state. There's no ego involved in the small PD's. Looks like they immediately request assistance from CBI and FBI and the collaboration is so damn effective. Two cases back to back with such quick arrests.

The police chief (iirc) said she was going to be reunited with her family, and that baby K is in protective custody. I would guess there might be some kind of legal process involved for them to get temporary custody. moo

Just my general observation about these types of cases. In terms of how long we are here on this earth, these violent senseless acts take relatively little time. The devastation they cause, and the number of other lives touched is vast. I can grasp what happened, and maybe the why in terms of someone's twisted thinking.

I've read cases and seen cases on TV that will truly make your mouth drop. But I just don't understand how people get to that place, where the best plan they can come up with, is to take someone out. The level of arrogance is truly astounding.

I agree wholeheartedly. It always blows my mind how anyone could ever get to this point. Just live life and be happy..how can you not see there is no positive end for anyone if you take this path even if you just leave all the morality out of it?? Just leaves a domino effect of broken lives behind..

Maybe the accomplice didn't actually perform the murder, but assisted in the coverup

As in transporting the body and the phone.

Are they looking for her body as well as her phone in Idaho?

He would have an alibi for his time in Colorado and could re-direct LE to the area in Idaho as if she took off to her Mother's in Idaho where someone else attacked her.

Maybe PF solicited someone to do it for him and that person backed out. Then PF had to do it himself. Possible that person who was solicited sent in a tip? I’m just amazed at how much LE seems to know, so quickly.
