I don't think he's a regular rancher. Someone earlier said cattle broker -- don't know if that was speculation or not, but it seems he might only have a few head at a time, either for his own family's meat or because he's buying/selling/however brokering works. Heck he might have a few cows just to use in training the dogs.

I think most ranch/farm/homesteady places accumulate trash for quite a while before hauling to dump or transfer station. I'm sure most of what he dumped was innocuous household or yard trash from the last month or more. The aerial photo of the place does show a long white trailer parked up north of the buildings, near where some other vehicles are. Whether that was onsite during any searches is unknown, of course, as is whether he added anything extra/related to the crime before making the dump trip. (even if he didn't dump anything specifically from the crime, LE wouldn't know that without inspecting it. And even regular pre-crime trash could still be useful evidence by showing habits or providing DNA etc).

Many have stated his income as $92,000 per year. I just don't see that on this small acreage, but assuming it is true, that was revenue...not income. That does not include the cost of hay and feed. I think he really was barely getting by raising and training dogs. MAYBE he made some money competing in team roping, but it is very expensive traveling and hauling horses. I don't know a lot of rich farriers, and many people do it themselves.

I really think he PLAYED at being a cowboy. Many people that have cattle that I know also have another job and raise the cattle as a sideline.

PS I wonder if she had find my phone activated on her phone. For in case it gets stolen or lost. There is a way you can get your phone to snap pics of someone if they steal your phone,and use it ,or you can track your phone if lost.
So that could be how they at least know where it wound up.
So pings wouldn't be the way to track a phone.
Disappointing the news would report they have the phone though if they don't

If that phone is turned back on, LE will know.

I think it’s been dumped somewhere though, so the only way it’s ever turned on again, is if it is found.

One question I have been asking myself is, if the report that PF was trying to sell his cattle off shortly after the disappearance is accurate, I have been wondering if that was being done to pull together any money that was needed to make a final payment to whoever might have helped him? I was thinking that may be possible or he may have been planning to leave town. That would require money also.

That was a fake PF page that showed he was trying to sell cattle.

I like your point about what they could learn from pre-crime trash.

I almost think they found something obvious...like paint cans that match the color of a wall in her house. But who is to say?

Yes, one doofus, turned off his cellphone and left it at home when he killed his GF and dumped her body, he thought he had out thought technology.

In the last FIVE years, this guy had not ever gone more than 8 hours without checking his phone, EXCEPT for the day his GF disappeared! That nailed him.

It's not necessarily what you do but what you don't do in so many cases! Your post proves that.

The dump excursion will be what brings him down, imo. One curious thing is the fact they taped and dated her doors during the search of his property, must have found a red flag during that search. I hope and pray that LE was monitoring the activity at her house during the time she was missing.

home and maybe they want to come clean with what they know.
Maybe at that point the guys spilled the beans about the plot.
One of them or maybe both were in on what happened, IMO.

I think Ann Rule was the best true-crime writer (JMO), but I have always liked the genre because of learning about how murderers get caught and their psychology. My husband prefers fiction, including horror. He says true crime is scary because it's real. I say horror is scarier because it is often based on true crime but taken many steps further, and is very revealing of writers' thoughts.

I am a reader in general, more so than a TV watcher, but also ever more over time an internet reader. Getting a better internet connection (ViaSat/Excede satellite service that has had faster speeds and no download allowance the last year plus) as live way rural (as in no cell service rural).

Ann Rule fan also. Started with Stranger Beside Me (Bundy) and about 15 others (Green River Killer and mostly the case compilations). Read classic detective/crime novels too. Favorites are Chandler, Hammett, and Jim Thompson. Thompson (The Grifters, The Getaway, The Killer Inside Me are movies from his pulp fiction) especially can be twisted.

The search of his property was quite extensive, judging by the amount of law enforcement personnel there, and that Olympic sized swimming pool crater they left behind.

Whatever he dumped, was almost certainly stored at another location, perhaps a friend’s house.

Or one of the other properties his mom owns. They only searched the one where he lives, right?

Seems like most law abiding people would report it to police if someone told them they just killed their fiancé. So I have been trying to think of reasons whoever was solicited didn’t report it earlier?

For example...

A. The person WASN’T a law abiding citizen.
B. The person was bought off/paid to help clean up.
C. PF lied and said it was an accident or self-defense.
D. He threatened to kill them too if they spoke up.

Yeah. As far as we know, only his and Kelsey’s were searched.

We would almost certainly know if search warrants were executed elsewhere.

As an aside, I would anticipate that there will be media coverage at the advisement hearing. Chris Watts tried to disallow media coverage for that, but the judge said that they were allowed expanded media coverage at the advisement.
