OMG, this guy is a special kind of stupid, IMO. I'd be curious to know why he "contends Berreth had disappeared on other occasions and returned." Repeating what PF tells you does not make it fact.

I don't get the feeling that this is about snitches.

For awhile now jillianelaine has been saying KB stumbled across illegal activity that got her killed.

The way the document is worded, "the People believe that disclosure of this information at this juncture may seriously jeopardize the physical safety of potential witnesses in this investigation" leads me to wonder what indeed they are dealing with and where the investigation has led.

That's a good catch on the document saying that "disclosure of information at this junction may seriously jeopardize the physical safety of potential witnesses in this investigation." (BBM)

That implies a whole lot more than just jeopardizing the integrity of the investigation, colluding on evidence, prejudicing potential jury members, etc etc. Mentioning physical harm or threat is a whole other level. Who did he solicit to do this and why???? This case is the biggest mystery to me.

Kelsey's brother Clint Berreth had earlier revealed he went to her home shortly after realizing she was missing and is adamant she didn't pack to go anywhere.

He said the only thing missing from the home was her purse. Her luggage and makeup remained untouched, and her two vehicles were still at her home.

Clint said his sister had made cinnamon rolls for Thanksgiving breakfast and the remainder were still on top of her stove days after she vanished.

I know a family whose mother was murdered by the father in the next room. It was a violent murder and they were aware of what was happening. They are being raised by their maternal grandmother who is a warm and wonderful person. The murder was about 5 years ago. Those kids have received such love and support from their mother's side of the family that if you didn't know the situation, you would never guess what had happened to them. 2 of the children were tots but one was in school. I'm sure that they still have residual effects, but the power of love is very healing. I think Kelsey's side of the family would provide that kind of live and healing.

I would have hoped that Ma Frazee would have reached out to KB's family and loved ones.
They've lost their precious daughter, and their grandchild's custody is still being decided.
If it were my son implicated, I'd be trying my best to console the victim's family.

SF seems to have an issue walking per the video from PF’s first appearance. When I think of that, and her possible limitations due to medical issues, I really can’t see the court giving her any custody over KB’s parents.

Yeah I wonder. I mean disability and illness don't eliminate a person from being able to have custody. As long as a person can adapt it's generally fine. Plenty of parents and grandparents who walk the same as her care for toddlers.

So I wonder. Is it more than that?

What I never understood is how did her brother who lives in Washington State know there was nothing missing from her place.
Did he go there often, if this happened to me no one walking into my house would really know what was missing or not aside looking for my purse, keys or phone.

I'm not sure about CO but in CA hey can take the child out of state in dependency cases, prior to a final determination.

He already made on initial appearance and waived advisement. I am not sure, but I think the hearing on the 31st was set because the DA had anticipated formal charges to be filed by then and they would likely do a new initial appearance. That may not happen. But the hearing may still go forward and the judge may treat it more like a status conference and ask the DA when/if new charges will be made. If the DA doesn't anticipate more, the judge will set an arraignment or maybe ask the defense if they want to enter a plea at that time. I would think that LE will be working like crazy today and over the weekend.

I followed a case years ago, not at WS, where the prosecution just strung together garbage evidence. There was no murder at all and the incompetence of the state was appalling. The state has unlimited resources against the individual. Jurisdictional semantics aside, the state is delaying showing their evidence to the defendant while he is stuck in a jail cell for an indeterminate period of time, and I do not support this per the public defender response, although I understand the judge has ruled/filed the order.

Judge says Berreth's parents will get custody of child

According to new documents released Friday morning, Senior Deputy District Attorney Jennifer Viehman, on behalf of the people of Colorado, objected to unsealing the arrest warrant before Patrick Frazee is formally charged, which is scheduled to take place Monday morning.
In the motion, Viehman said she believes that the disclosure of the information from the warrant could “seriously jeopardize the physical safety of potential witnesses in this investigation.”

Anybody else thinking these "potential witnesses" may be giving evidence r/t the solicitation to murder charge?
*ETA: It's interesting that the DA's office thinks the safety of witnesses is in jeopardy given that PF is in custody. Nobody else has been charged (yet).
So who poses a physical threat to witnesses, I wonder...thoughts?

Do you believe the CBI and FBI have possibly strung together garbage evidence in this case and possibly no murder actually has occurred?

What case are you referring to where charges of murder were issued but there was no murder at all?

Thank for answering one of my questions I posted earlier. Custody and visitation are two different issues and this was a temp custody hearing.

Another hearing has been scheduled for Jan. 3rd with temporary custody being extended to CB until that time.

Here is summary: On December 21, 2018 the court granted a Temporary Emergency Custody Order made by Teller County Department of Human Services (TCDHS) placing the minor child in the temporary physical custody of maternal grandparents and legal custody of TCDHS. As required by law a Preliminary Protective Proceeding was held on 12/27/18. TCDHS caseworkers were present with Special County Attorney Steve Zentz. The court appointed attorney Lindsey Parlin to represent father and a guardian ad litem was appointed to represent the best interests of the minor child. TCDHS, father and guardian ad litem requested the hearing be closed to the public. The court made finding under CRS 19-1-106 that it was in child’s best interest to close hearing. The maternal grandparents were added to the case as special respondents. Paternal grandmother file a motion to intervene. The parties agreed to reserve for later hearing paternal grandmother’s motion to intervene and placement request. The court continued the temporary custody of the minor child with maternal grandparents. The case is continued for a pre-trial conference on January 3, 2019 at 8:30 a.m.
