In terms of the press conferences-- its tough to distinguish what was reality, and what had been concocted in an effort to further the investigation. IMO, the surprise CB expressed in seeing that KB had been causally dressed, was genuine--and indicative of a mother who had been told her daughter had special plans that early afternoon.
That was the one statement that didn't cry to to me as "possibly contrived for investigative purposes".

I have a hard time believing CB, a woman of faith and conscience, would purposely lie. I can see omitting info so as not to appear that she is pointing the finger at PF since her granddaughter was still in his care and was at risk if PF was indeed responsible for KB being missing. That was then and this is now and we KNOW he was responsible.

Recipes or no recipes, I wonder if it was unusual for KB to speak with her mother twice in a day? And if there was something else they had been discussing that might hold a clue to why he did what he did--and all of the talk about holidays, baking, tree shopping, and "loving relationships" was staged to try to convince PF that no one knew what may have triggered her death and to protect the life of the baby.

The thing that struck me was the recipe. Clearly these interviews are meant to relay information, both to the public and to the POI, so there is something in the mentioning of a recipe and yet not revealing what that recipe was. Most people would say "she called and I gave her the family recipe for baked yams" but instead CB stated she gave her a recipe but refused to disclose what it was.

And he helped her move from Washington. Interesting. And KB was (or sounded) "very excited" to have the baby.

That is a really good article. There is also a photo of KB's townhome showing it is a duplex and does share a wall with another unit #271. It is inside of an HOA, but I have not seen anything about whether or not it is a gated community with keycard access.

From looking at the zillow.com interior photos, the living room is the left front including the fireplace. The front door is on the left side, between the living room and dining/kitchen, also along the left side. The larger bedroom is in the back. Not sure, but the bathroom is probably on the right side, past the stairs. JMO

I'm confused. You think CB knew KB was dead and waited 3 or 4 days before calling the police for a well check of her daughter? And she did that because the baby was in danger? Wouldn't a fear of the baby being in danger with PF lead to more immediate action? As it turned out, the baby stayed with PF until Dec 21st when he was arrested for murder. I don't see how a delay in reporting KB missing helped keep Baby K safe. And I certainly don't see CB delaying reporting it if she thought her daughter was murdered. JMO.

Good point. There are many little details. Stating what the specific recipe was would reveal more of KB’s plans that day. And LE probably didn’t want that revealed.

This is what seals it for me, that it was about custody and control. That "disgusting man" started bad mouthing KB to others in advance so that if he got away with her murder (which he undoubtedly thought he would), he would likely be given custody without a second thought. Everyone he lied to stepping up to vouch for him as the "responsible" parent whereas KB was negligent. I despise him for killing her but I also despise him for calling her good character into question. I'm particularly sensitive to character assassination. I had to live through what my ex DIL did to my late son. It still brings me to tears.

I thought it was for a few reasons. The baby provided a buffer from LE, it made him seem less sinister, it was a way to control the Berreth family and it also provided a buffer from the media. Had he not had the baby with him I think the media may have pushed him a bit harder.

Yes!! The fact that it was Thanksgiving. And she was asking her mom for a recipe. And she was last publicly shown at Safeway. Presumably looking for groceries.

Seems to be that there are strong indicators (IMO) that she was going to be making a Thanksgiving dinner contribution.

I’m also obsessed with the fact that they are withholding videos of her leaving Safeway.

In terms of domestic issues, I don't see a justification for murder. If he was looking to make a new start with someone else, I think he'd have just walked. I don't think he'd worry about what her family thought, and I don't think he'd be concerned about his own family's reaction. Nor do I believe he had the spine to concern himself with what Kelsey thought. So why? What did he have to gain? He was on a birth certificate and had lived his life with "part time custody" to date, so why now? He saw what had happened to his peer, CW. There had to be something more to this tale.

But was he on the birth certificate? The baby has Kelsey's last name...

Thanks WW, it's hard to believe they could still be getting it so wrong, but as we've learned it is def possible.

It was an attorney on FOX that said the custody hearing was set before Thanksgiving which should take precedence over a news reporter from ABC. But on the other hand, Kelsey and PF apparently were still going together at least until Thanksgiving. Why would there be a custody hearing for two people who were still going together?

Do we know the first date that either LE or KB’s family went inside her residence? December 2?

I’ve wondered IF PF painted over a wall after the fact, paint smell always tends to linger in a room for at least a few days. I’ve been curious if it smelled like paint inside of KB’s house to anyone? I know nobody has mentioned it, but something I’ve been curious about.

This has bothered me about the paint theory too. I would guess that primer plus paint would be needed to cover blood. I know I have had to use both when covering my child’s drawings in black pen on my walls, so I’d guess you would need the same with blood or other matter. Not only is primer stinky, but there is also usually a wait time between coats. Also, are we saying he was carrying around these painting supplies ahead of time? Were KB’s walls white or would he need to color match? Most places to buy paint/brushes/drop clothes/painter’s tape would be closed on thanksgiving. I know we know this was premeditated because of the solicitation charge, but logistic wise this seems difficult especially with a baby also possibly present.


On a side note, my son is baby Ks age. He’s late September to her October. He has been getting molars in the last few days and has just been miserable. All he wants is me, no one else will do. It breaks my heart for baby K who will be going through the same and looking for KB for comfort.

Do you think the loft is what they consider to be the 2nd bedroom?

Do you know if the bathroom is on the right or left?

Was the shared wall neighbor gone on 11/22 or the whole 4-day weekend?

If they are withholding the video of her exiting the safeway it could be because what she bought could clearly be seen and it would give us an indication of what that recipe was. Pretty damning for PF's story if Kelsey had a large turkey in the cart.

Because of his line of work, marks could for the most part, be explained away.
