Yes, that's one reason among many that I don't think she left willingly. Or maybe she left willingly, and was then detained unwillingly. I sure would like to see her full cell phone trail. I haven't heard of any organized searches, but I like to think that the authorities are at least conducting a cell phone forensic search and obtaining video from any cameras in town.

Idk. On the other hand, if she has a formal custody arrangement with her fiance (particularly since he daughter's last name is different, they aren't married, etc.), the police would be able to sort through that pretty quickly. If he wasn't supposed to have her right now, they would know and if anything, if his story was made up, he would only be drawing suspicion on him more.

It would behoove him, as the father to a child whose mother he's not married to, to have a formal agreement SOMEWHERE to protect him and his time with her and I would assume he has done that... Engaged or not.

My thinking is that if this is foul play, the individual responsible may have had help after the fact.

So not in the actual murder, but in the coverup of it.

Kelsey Berreth’s brother lives in Tacoma, Washington, but that is located about 615 miles from Gooding. Her mother lives in Sandpoint, Idaho, which is also roughly 600 miles from Gooding. According to police, she had not indicated she would be traveling to visit anyone.

Public records indicate Kelsey Berreth has, at some point in her life, resided in both Warden and Ephrata, Washington. Both those cities are more than 400 miles from Gooding.

Still, the relevancy of the cellphone activity is not entirely clear. While DeYoung stated it as fact at the press conference, Woodland Park Police Commander Chris Adams on Friday told KEPR-TV, “It could just be a false ping.”

Sometimes an "airtight alibi" turns out in the long run not to be so airtight afterall.

For instance and totally hypothetically speaking, if someone happens to have a relative that works in LE or if someone happens to own an airplane or has access to one and can get back to a place quickly or if someone is very computer savvy and manages to get a phone delivered to another location then that someone may make things appear to be one way when it could turn out that things are another way altogether.

Im glad to hear FBI is on the case. I have a feeling they are going to be needed here.

If that’s the case, it might be easier for a third party to have aided in this aspect of the crime.

I'm starting to doubt there was any "hand off" of the baby. She went shopping with the baby that morning. If there were to be a hand off later that afternoon, wouldn't you rather go grocery shopping later, without the baby? (Yes, I know it was a holiday and stores might close early, but if I had the opportunity to grocery shop without a baby, I would take it.)

So shopping in the morning. Hand-off planned that afternoon. But....also plans for dinner together that evening? What's the point of the afternoon hand off if you're getting together for dinner? Why not just hand off after dinner?

I question a planned hand off. I think he went to her place for the dinner that Thursday.....and then he ends up with the baby.

If the ping was "placed" to throw off the investigation, it is in a difficult location for a single parent to access while caring for a young child 800 miles away. But someone else could make that long drive over a long weekend. Perhaps.

In some cases, but not all, when LE does not say much, it is because they are working on a suspect already. I have a feeling, unfortunately, the hardest part in this case will be finding Kelsey...not zeroing in on a suspect. Already it is far too long to have “gone away for a while”. No one could expect to still have a job, etc, plus I would guess that her December bills have not been paid yet, though we don’t know. And most people, especially young people, do not have loads of stashed cash to finance a secret getaway.

No need to tell family in person. I think one party usually calls off an engagement whether the other party agrees or not and the core of this case is about custody. JMO

I think this third party would have to be exceptionally close to the perpetrator.

Here's something that I thought of- maybe they don't suspect her fiance or whatever he is to her now, because of the phone ping in Idaho? Perhaps he has an airtight alibi for the time period that she went missing and the phone ping. meaning, if she were kidnapped or God forbid, murdered, he wouldn't be a suspect or a POI?

The phone ping is a red herring, imo.
