Just catching up, was it confirmed she did have an engagement ring? Thanks
I haven't read that anywhere nor viewed a photo of her wearing one.

Just a thought, MOO...

Charge #3 of murder during the commission of a robbery doesn’t really jive with other actions taken by somebody — the week off from work text, the cell phone ping, and the claim by PF that she said she was going to see an ailing relative. It was never meant to look like a crime scene, it was meant to look like she left. So, IMO, whatever constitutes the basis of LE’s robbery charge was the forceful taking from her of something no one was ever supposed to find out about. So what could that be?

And note the difference between a charge of robbery, “forcefully taking something of value from the person or presence of someone by threat or intimidation”, and aggravated robbery (not charged) which includes, among other things, simply being armed with a deadly weapon and displaying the intent to use it, even if they don’t.

I think that charge may allude to the likely manner of her death. I.e., not caused with a deadly weapon.

Again, MOO...
Good thoughts, do you have an idea to what that item may be?

No, we have not heard any verification on that. According to her brother, the only things missing were her purse and her phone. Imo

Also, if he's cheating, Kelsey could have gotten an STD. (Seems to happen enough). Maybe a wakeup call for her to leave him. Or is this too speculative?
Would def be a wake up call for me

We really don't know who was 'dependent on who' here.
Maybe PF was so immature and irresponsible that he didn't want to leave the nest. Maybe all his discretionary income he could
spend on himself and momma paid the bills, utilities, groceries.
At her age and with her physical problems she may have liked
the security of his still living there. We just don't know.
Could be a bit of both though.
Would it be amiss to say that PF would inherit the ranch and, therefore, didn't plan on leaving it...

Burn ban is most likely, and a fresh ashes would be a huge red flag. Burning during a burn ban would probably brought LE in to visit really soon.
Then it seems likely Kelsey was dumped enroute to ID...

Hi, WSers. I’m trying desperately to catch up after some family travel.

I’ve been stewing over the “robbery.”

Something just popped in my head. It is probably too far fetched, but then again, who knows what kinds of plans someone who solicits murder, will try to come up with.

CB said she was surprised that Kelsey’s hair was not done before going to Safeway. Suggesting that something, in CB’s mind, appeared “off” in KB’s routine.

We have not seen footage of Kelsey coming out of the store. In the scenario I’m offering, POSSIBLY someone was waiting for her. (Or even with her).

I went to the Woodland Park Safeway website, and listed under Services: Bank- Wells Fargo.

Safeway at 1101 E US Hwy 24 Woodland Park, CO| Weekly Ad, Grocery, Pharmacy

(Hypothetically) What if PF or accomplice threatened Kelsey at gunpoint (or other), if she did not go to Safeway (Bank) and withdrawal a large sum of money? Threatened her life and/or Baby K’s if she were to signal for any kind of help in the store.

This withdrawal could serve multiple purposes.

By Kelsey withdrawing a large some of money before “disappearing,” it adds to the picture that PF seemed to be painting, that Kelsey willingly skipped town.

The large sum could also be used to pay the solicitee or any other accomplices. PF himself, may have needed the money to help cover up his crime.

It would only be KB on camera at the ATM (assuming it was just a Wells Fargo ATM, not full service bank - esp. due to holiday).

To my knowledge, we have never heard anything from LE about KB’s last credit card or bank activity before or after disappearance. Possibly, they withheld this info. for good reason.

We have seen crimes before, where someone is threatened in their home, and is instructed to go make a withdrawal, and on delivering the money back at home, is subsequently killed.

In this scenario, why would she go to Safeway ATM vs. drive thru ATM? I guess that would depend on whether the perp was with/near/watching her. If she had freedom to choose, obviously Safeway would buy her more visibility. Or, PF thought her getting money and certain items at store would be more “proof” that Kelsey willingly left town. Who knows? Maybe this was the only ATM KB used in the past...

As far as how the rest went down, there are many possibilities. But I just wanted to offer a new “robbery” theory. (Apologies if this has already been theoried- I am still catching up on threads).

Thoughts? Way too far fetched? Possibility?

MOO

ETA- Western Union is also listed under services at that Safeway. I’ve never used the “cash back” option when paying by credit card. But that too (if requested by perp), could have make it look more like KB is preparing for a trip.

I doubt that PF would attempt to destroy a body using an open burn fire pit. A burn barrel with a cover would still be an option.

Regardless, there are so many possibilities for what PF did with Kelsey's body that the best hope of finding her is with the accomplices.
There must be so many remote areas in that area that he would be familiar with. The body could be anywhere, and finding is unlikely unless there is someone else who knows where it is. Maybe there is something LE can dangle in front of Frazee to get him to talk. Imo

I'm guessing there is more of a chance he DID NOT burn her than he did. First of all a burning body has a smell like no other and it never leaves you. I was stationed in Japan in the military and once or twice a week they would cremate people quite a ways away from the base but you would always smell it and always comment on it.
But in CO any sign of fire is taken extremely seriously especially due to the major fires of the Waldo Canyon Fire and more recently the Black Forest Fire which impacted me, I was evacuated and it came within about a mile of my house. But most people that smell smoke especially in a more remote area will not hesitate to call 911 immediately. The thing is the winds in CO are very strong coupled with it is extremely dry. So it doesn't take long for a fire to get completely out of control. The Hayman Fire which was probably 15 years ago was more in the area we are discussing and it seemed like it took forever to put out. I just think by burning it would draw unwanted attention very quickly as you can smell the smoke for miles with the wind. I am attaching a few pics of the Black Forest Fire taken from my deck before I was evacuated. Yes, fires/smoke are taken very seriously here in CO. But then again it doesn't appear that he has done a very good job of covering his tracks up to this point... MOO

That seems likely to me. I don't know if his siblings had much to do with the ranch and his mom has other properties so I don't see why it wouldn't go to him. Imo

The charge is that she was murdered during a robbery. The only things that are missing are Kelsey, her purse, and her phone (per her brother). This robbery charge seems like a back-up plan. If the first degree murder charged doesn't stick, but it can be proven that he moved her phone, then this charge covers death during the theft of the phone.

Here's the full complaint: https://www.courts.state.co.us/userfiles/file/Court_Probation/04th_Judicial_District/Teller/caseofinterest/2018CR330/001/Redacted C&I 18CR330.pdf

No. It's not a back up plan. It's a first degree murder charge and robbery during the commission acts as a possible sentencing enhancement.

There is no separate robbery charge that they can get him with if murder doesn't stick.

First time I’ve heard that also.

And interesting about he was concerned what would happen to baby if he was arrested, two days before he was arrested...why be concerned if you are innocent? Hmmm...
The whole article is so full of inconsistencies it's not funny. Why didn't they ask him why he didn't report her missing? Why didn't he become worried that she didn't return to pick up her child? Why was he still sleeping at her home? Why didn't he sit with investigators and answer any questions they might have? He knew so much about her, had been the last one to see her, he would have been an invaluable resource. And lastly, why not let the Berreth family have access to the baby?

I am not sure a murderer trying to despose of evidence and/or a body would care about a fire ban. He had a lot of land and his neighbors possibly did not care or see if he was burning something.. especially if it was middle of night.. super cold outside no one would have seen him do it. I think they did find something in that big ol ditch they were digging in.
True.

Jodee Garreston, Berreth's cousin, said the pair met online two years ago when Berreth lived in Warden, Washington. Within months, Berreth moved to Colorado to be with Frazee, said Garreston, who never met Frazee.
Frazee has a business shoeing horses in Teller County. Several of Frazee's friends and clients told CNN that he was well known and liked in the community and was a good father to daughter Kaylee.
Two friends said Frazee told them that the relationship with Berreth ended months ago -- claims that contradict statements from Berreth's aunt, who wrote on Facebook that Berreth broke up with Frazee the same day she went missing.
"I still refuse to believe that he's done this until I see the evidence," said Tamra Freeman, whose granddaughter played with Frazee's daughter.
Freeman said that Frazee told her the relationship with Berreth ended on New Year's Day 2018, and the only contact they had was related to their daughter. Berreth's mother has not responded to CNN's requests for comment.

Murder charges filed against man in case of missing Colorado mom - CNN

Heartbreaking to think what KB endured with this man. MOO

According to a neighbor, PF leased a bull to the neighbor, PF must have had some cows somewhere. IMO

PF was hell bent on having Kelsey murdered. And planned it out for months. I really feel this was financial.
Makes sense.

  • #719
Yes, NanZDrew, I agree 100%.

I agree but if he was that intimidated by her successful life why did he get so involved with her, to the point of having a baby?

He may not have many cows. Most dairy farms don't have a bull, they only have the cows and babies and they pay a fee to use a bull to impregnate the females.
