I agree, the financial motive seems logical from PF's perspective.

More research: A single ping can be traced to the accuracy of the GPS inside the phone, normally about a 6 meter circle. A search warrant is req’d, and it takes several days for special engineers to perform. Any time a dead phone is turned on, it will wait 3 minutes and then ping. Once communication is established, the phone will periodically query for a stronger signal and will ping that second tower. There is a short lapse before the first connection ends, in which the phone “cuts out”. If the phone doesn’t change location at all, but remains on, the tower will keep it connected for eight hours before breaking off. The FBI forensic unit has search warrants and phones. if the person that sent the two text messages on 11/25 had his/her own phone on hand and turned on in any mode, that phone will have pinged once, but more likely twice, within 8 hours plus and 8 hours minus the time of the ping of the victim’s phone.
My conclusion: If KK sent the texts, she's toast. If she didn't all the rest is just gossip.

Something else came to mind while re-reading this: that Google tracking thingy. I can't remember what it's called and I don't have a smart phone but a tech savvy friend was digging around in her own phone and discovered every location she'd been for months was in this Google program. She did not turn on that feature and never knew it was there to be turned off. I don't know if just turning off the GPS disconnects that Google feature but I think most people don't even know you can turn that off, let alone that Google Big Brother. So, if KKL took her own phone with her and did go to Colorado, it would show even more even more than pings and everywhere she went. I don't know how it works but my friend was at her dad's house and the Google thing showed her located just down the street at a business that must be always logged in some Google deal or like how Facebook shows what restaurants people are in.

I recall a television interview with Idaho LE, where he explained being contacted by another jurisdiction, and that it was legally necessary for Idaho LE to do certain things for this investigation. In other words, I believe the search warrant process, execution/service in Idaho took place between 12/15 and 12/17. Seemed to me the source originated in Colorado but can't confirm. MOO

The statement referred to in the news stories is posted here.

The ceiling in El Paso and Teller counties is the current federal poverty level for the Pikes Peak region, which currently as somewhere just below $16,000 gross income on last year's federal tax return. A rancher once explained to me that his his income was matched by everything that he spent EXCEPT what he called "the three B"s" ........beer, bullets and bedsheets. Anyone charged with First Degree Murder whose Form 1040 hit the magic number would be a fool to turn down the public defenders. They have good lawyers, unlimited resources, investigative resources, and way more criminal defense experience on staff. I would label that SMART, not PENNILESS.

I believe that the FBI has served the warrants and the phones have been in the hands of engineers for plenty long to make the match. In Colorado, the match would likely result in a charge of "Accessory After the Fact" which carries the same penalty and burden of proof as the charge (First Degree Murder). The very nature of the charge implies to me that you have to prove the murder for it to stick, so I don't look for anything to happen until the murder investigation is farther along than it is now. Right now, I think the whole KK story is a dead end in regard to finding KB's remains. If even half of the backfence gossip makes it into trial testimony, though, the trials are going to be very interesting!
In Colorado, Accessory After the Fact is a class 4 felony if the other person was charged for a class 1 felony (1st degree murder is class 1) or class 2 felony. A class 4 felony is punishable by 2 to 6 years in jail with a mandatory 3 year probation and/or a fine of $2000 to $500,000. It does not carry the same penalty as the underlying class 1 or 2 felony.

IIRC, Robert Hare, who created the Hare Psychopathy Checklist, said that about 90% of penitentiary inmates are ASPD/sociopaths and 10% of those are also psychopaths. They do not have a conscience and will not mourn those they kill. They may think about them only because it's why they're in prison but that's about it.

I couldn’t agree more about the majority of inmates who’ve committed murder not mourning those they’ve killed. They lack conscience and most likely all they’re concerned with is how this has adversely affected their lives.

I would also guess that people like PF are not capable of true unconditional love. He could very well have considered baby K as an object, just like he probably did with KB. He certainly didn’t appear to hold the baby lovingly in a couple of pictures that were posted here way back in the beginning.

I still believe he was resentful that KB got pregnant, and jealous of her independence. JMHO

Do you have a factual basis for saying that ranchers are less honest than any other tax paying group? I find that comment highly offensive. I'm in no way condoning anything PF has done, but to imply he is less honest because he is a rancher is over the top imo.

Wow, of all the things to be highly offended about. First of all, yes, I certainly do have a factual basis and I will give you those facts in a moment. But first, I would comment that if you yourself are honest in your dealings, then you really don’t have anything to be offended about. I didn’t name you, and there’s no sense in being offended on behalf of someone else, much less an entire group.

As for my factual basis, my factual basis is being married to a rancher for many years, and being around the ranching community all my life. There’s a significant amount of cash payments for services rendered. My ex did just fine financially. We raised crops, bought and sold cattle, he broke horses for others, etc. but in financial docs for the divorce he only claimed to make $24k per year which was from oil and gas leases on the property. I guarantee you that was just a fraction of his income.

Some jobs lend themselves more to dishonesty because the opportunity is there. I have a friend with a lawn care business. He made 50k last year but reported half on his taxes.

All I’m saying is there is more opportunity, and a greater likelihood of someone under-reporting income in ranching than in some other jobs. That doesn’t make any one specific person guilty of it.

Just read an article about how to stop Google from doing that. Many folks don't know their phone and other devices are tracking them or how to shut that off.

Nope, I have no extra info. Just basing it off of having a late husband who wanted to have me killed and who was trying to get full custody of the kids, in part because he was very attached to them, in part to spite me. So like I said it’s IMO only. I’m certainly biased.

Did he solicit someone to kill you?

Plus he had a jealous side chick who would do anything to be with him, she divorced her husband, then KB enter the picture, had his baby and their happy ever after went out the window.
So KK has to go back to her Hubby. Her plans lay in ruins.
She must have seethed with jeslousy, and hatred for beautiful, sweet Kelsey. How dare anyone get in the way of what Perfect Miss Rodeo Queen wants, but she has to make it look like it's only PF who wanted KB dead. So she tells BFF blah blah blah just in case they get caught, so she comes out of it unscathed. Or so she thinks.

Wow, I find that shocking. Someone could help a killer get rid of a body and just get 2-6?! That's crazy.

Media who identified themselves as an NBC reporter, an ABC producer and a freelance photographer for the U.K.’s Daily Mail converged Jan. 4 at a home in Twin Falls County expecting to find the FBI serving a search warrant, they said. What they found were “no trespassing” signs and a heavy chain across the entrance to the property.

What happened on Jan 3rd which caused the reporters to believe LE was going to search this place?

I agree with a lot of this except for "their happy ever after." I do not believe for one second that PF loved KK or wanted a life with her. I am willing to bet he had no desire to settle down with anyone at all.

While it wasn't I who said they were offended, just wanted you to know that what you wrote rang true, to me. I don't know anyone dealing in cash who reports it all and I don't consider it dishonest. I know I'm not alone on that as there are lots of people who take issue with the tax system and also don't want government all up in their business. As you said, it's opportunity that allows people to do it and there are many lines of work that make it possible.

Reality must really suck for her now,and rightfully so.
She had a lot going for her, but it wasn't enough, she just tossed it to the wayside.
She tarnished her crown.

Probably a rumor in a Facebook Group.

I think that goes across the board for anyone self employed. There is so much you can do by cash transactions and even bartering.

It will be this way for awhile. We are going around in circles currently on the same topics covered in previous threads. I have my twitter page set to kelseyberreth hashtag - latest so that is where you will hear news. This is more of discussion about whatever news there is, and theories.

The double edged sword of technology. On the one had, it can help hang a killer or locate a victim but on the other is the complete loss of privacy and freedom described in such dystopian novels as 1984. I had an ex, thirty years ago, who was a PI, who told me the future would be selling information. I couldn't see it. Little did I know!
