Does anyone have a fricken clue where legendary reporter, Chris Spargo, got this from? I get why the defense wouldn’t call his mom to the stand, but this makes it seem set in stone that they won’t call her.

The defendant meanwhile only plans to call two witnesses to the stand it seems, both of whom are investigators for the public defender's office.

Frazee will not call his mother to testify nor does it appear that he will take the stand in his own defense.

It is not surpise that Frazee would want to stay quiet as he previously asked that remarks he made to one official the day after Christmas be stricken from the record.

Patrick Frazee murder trial will kick off Friday with family of missing mom Kelsey Berreth on stand | Daily Mail Online
Thank you for posting the article and for being there today. Praying for justice for Kelsey! IMOO, It looks like PF might not have much of a defense with only having two witnesses. I was also wondering if any of the video footage has been released of PF being questioned by the police when he was first brought in for questioning when Kelsey was first reported missing. I'm just curious to see his demeanor, answers, etc. Also in the two days between Nov. 22 and when KK showed up in town is there video footage of PF leaving KB's home? Does it show him wearing different clothes?

based on my reading of the threads my opinion i'm going to express is most likely unpopular but i respect and support the decorum rules of the court. and i reached this from experiencing the twitter/facebook frenzy of reporting during several of the hearings in this case. i do wish there could be a live television broadcast with no commentators but the whole race to get the news out which in some cases was inaccurate is just not serving the all the people very well in my opinion. ok, just had to express that. thanks. MOO.

I do agree with you that most of us here would rather have the live feed to make our own opinions versus opinions of others. Whenever an opportunity exists, I like to go to the source versus someone else's reporting.

We are all disappointed that there will be no live feed I would think

I haven’t looked at their website for awhile but noticed today that a CNN headline for the trial says:

Trial for Colorado man accused of killing his fiancee will hinge on testimony from his alleged accomplice

This type of click-bait is so common now, no matter who’s reporting. The article focuses quite a bit on that viewpoint early-on but does eventually go into detail about the case.

I didn’t spend a lot of time looking at it but it seemed pretty factual (although a bit slanted) during a quick read.

It’s nothing we haven’t already heard.

I would definitely prefer to see and hear reactions first hand instead of relying on reporters. I’m glad they’re there, but there’s nothing like seeing it for yourself.

It sure does feel like the judge has clamped down too hard. If nothing else it would be great to see recordings later.

I agree with others that he is possibly factoring-in a later appeal attempt. And I do get that he is likely trying to avoid a circus atmosphere.

I would love to see something along the lines of a C-SPAN channel for high-profile criminal trials.

Zero commentary, just cameras in the courtroom recording the proceedings.

If the judge is trying his best to avoid a circus-like atmosphere, pitching tents outside the courthouse really isn't the best strategy, and by not the best strategy, I mean, it's the worst possible strategy.

I'm just waiting for the cotton candy vendors to show up.

I was able to follow Sidney Moorer's re-trial for the kidnapping of Heather Elvis recently on the Law and Crime website (disclaimer: I am not a shill for the site or group). They provided an uninterrupted(except for court recesses) courtroom feed without commentary. I'm not sure if they have a broadcast tv/satellite/cable channel or not. It was nice to be able to follow the courtroom proceedings as they happened, IMO. They managed to broadcast the trial respectfully, without sensationalizing any of it or causing any apparent disruption to the proceedings, IMO, so it is possible.

Wow, thanks for that info, mysterian!

I had never heard of that Law and Crime website, but it sounds pretty awesome.

Will definitely be checking that one out!

You're welcome! I also watched parts of Jimmie Rodger's murder trial(Dr. Teresa Sievers).

I'm not sure, but in some dark recess of one of my memory banks, I think I remember reading that this was an updated version of courttv.

Haaa. I figured it out.

PF sure ain’t walking out that courthouse door a free man.

Ever.

I surely hope you are right! And you usually are.

BBM:
False. That's incorrect.

Judge Sells is absolutely controlling what happens outside of that courthouse, too.

He's even stated reporters aren't allowed to do any live reporting from right outside the courthouse, either. They have to actually get beyond the invisible fence of what's considered "courthouse property" before they can report anything to the public.

Here's the judge's Decorum Order, as a reference:

Yes, Florida has the Sunshine Law where the public has access to a lot, apparently unlike CO. I was unaware of the ABC thing. I have also seen witness lists prior to trials in other states.

Sometimes the defense witness list will include some if not all the names on the prosecution list, then adding their own.

I love Florida's easy access to information. However, specific to Colorado -- names of those interviewed or providing statements (i.e., potential witnesses) are included with the application for arrest affidavit. While authorities are diligent to redact all but their names, or remove these pages prior to publication, sometimes they're missed.

To my knowledge, I think this is as close as we get to a hint of the actual witnesses prior to trial.

It’s definitely true that it can’t be avoided off of county property, and that would be a frighteningly trend if it could. I just think perhaps he wants to do as much as possible to keep the courthouse property itself as clear as possible.
