My first trial I followed closely was the endless, then repeated, Arias trial. Anyone here remember the endless OBJECTION! Approach the bench? At least THAT;s not going on here, so far as we know anyway.

Coworkers describe Kelsey as a loving mother, not an alcoholic

TELLER COUNTY — The murder trial of Patrick Frazee enters its eighth day Wednesday morning following testimony from Frazee's former lover, clients and the investigators who searched Krystal Kenney's home. Click here to read the rest of the testimonies from Tuesday.

[..]

The judge in the case announced mid-morning that closing arguments could get underway this Friday.

[..]

Doss Aviation coworkers share memories of Kelsey

Flight instructor Carolyn Sharp worked alongside Berreth when she first joined Doss Aviation and was undergoing training while pregnant. She recalls how Berreth had to stop the training halfway through her pregnancy as she could no longer fit comfortably in the cockpit. She described Berreth as very private, quiet, reserved but really sweet.

At one point she explains Berreth's body language changed following a phone call with Frazee and Berreth said he wasn't treating her well. [..]

She says Berreth loved being a mom and can’t understand how she did it as a single mom.

“What a woman of strength to be able to do that. I don’t know if I could,” Sharp says.

A prosecutor asks if Sharp ever had concerns about alcohol and drugs with Berreth, to which she says there were never any signs, only stress tied to being a mom and a high-pressure job.

Robert Hill, another flight instructor for Doss Aviation, says Berreth told him about "a random lady" who came to her house with coffee. This is in reference to Krystal Kenney's testimony she went to Berreth's home with coffee, not poisoned as she alleges Frazee wanted, and spoke with Berreth under false pretenses.

When talking about her relationship with Frazee, Hill recalls she would say he was "good and working," then changed to say he was “acting like a dick” and causing her stress.

[..]

Human Resources partners for Doss Aviation recall conversations with Frazee

Jennifer Barks
was called to testify about her efforts to reach out to Frazee during the first days Berreth was missing.

[..]

She recalls calling him Dec. 3, the Monday after Berreth was reported missing, to make sure he was aware she was missing.

During the conversation, Frazee asked if she knew anyone who could take care of his daughter Kaylee, according to Banks.

What was more concerning to Banks was Frazee claiming Berreth had a drinking problem, something she says she challenged as fellow pilots and people at work would have noticed an issue like that due to the nature of their work.

According to Banks, Frazee had no reply.

]..]

She also recalls telling Frazee he was listed as the beneficiary on Berreth's company life insurance policy, however that was later found to be false as the company was in the process of changing benefits and Berreth did not complete the paperwork. bbm

Berreth had also changed her status from being a full-time employee to a part-time employee in November 2018.

But considering PF was not too worldly or informed of many things, maybe he didn't know the rules of insurance payouts and declaring someone dead.

MOO, beneficiaries on polices would normally pay out quickly vs. going though estates and probate.

Yep, he may not have realized that insurance may have held onto until a death certificate and lack of "heads up to hold" from LE.

From Sam's lunchtime notes...

Both sides are meeting in judge's chambers off record about an upcoming witness.

Some great defense there, ha ha! Their best line to date- "there was no blood on his clothing". Did someone pay them to not even bother to argue on his behalf- just sit there for several days while the prosecution's witnesses demolish him, one by one?

Of course, I don't believe that- just sarcasm folks.
Well, they did mention something about KK not being captured on camera, and pointed out that they couldn't be sure it was PF in the images.

It seems they are really counting on the jury not finding KK credible. I don't think they care so much about her lies about why she didn't come forward as much as they do about the evidence fitting with the details she gave about the murder and cover up.

Well this will be interesting - how will the company handle the pay-out? Listed beneficiaries on life insurance policies are very difficult to overturn - wonder what has become of this?
Pretty sure if murder is suspected they hold off on paying out, until there is a verdict in the case. They have investigators working on their side as well as LE.

Out of pity....I can hear them now....

"Poor KK such a lovesick dumb**, that guy treated her like crap for years but she never saw it coming...."

"You know she was once Queen of the Rodeo....but now she just sits around eating pizza, watching daytime soaps and Lifetime Television for Women....

Is Lifetime Television for Women available on the jail TV??? Maybe you can use your commissary money to upgrade...? lol!!! moo

“Some of Kelsey’s co-workers also testified that they knew she took some time off in August 2018 to attend a program out of state. They understood this to be rehabilitation for chronic-fatigue or stress management, not substance abuse.”

I wonder if it’s possible that PF initiated the idea of KB going to treatment? It would have played perfectly into his cover story that she was troubled and would disappear. I would think that she would have had to be pushed into something like that. Most young mothers would have a hard time being away from their baby for an extended period of time.
Do we know if she had a substance abuse problem and or was in a rehab?

I just find that so hard to believe of a woman who has a one year old child, a good job, new move, ect..

How did she acomplish, all these things while using? Surely she had pre-natal check ups, and then the investigation by Cps after the birth, Where is this claim that she was in a rehab program coming from?

I must've missed something. I don't recall her being a substance abuser, and didn't she buy wine or Champagne the day she was killed?

When do you think PF learned the word ‘approximately’. That’s an awful big word for our dimwit cowboy.

I originally thought of him as half-wit.....but upon further review, that would be giving him way to much brain power.

PF pushed this “alcoholic in rehab” claim to anyone who would listen. Numerous witness testified to this, and its a complete lie.

Not only is there no evidence Kelsey had a drinking problem, but the facility she checked into didn’t treat substance abuse.

FRAZEE TRIAL DAY 8 LUNCHTIME NOTES:
• This trial is moving well ahead of schedule. Both parties say they expect to be ready for closing arguments on Friday. They continue to speed through witnesses.
• We heard from several of Berreth’s coworkers at Doss Aviation. They testified she never showed signs of having issues with alcohol and drugs. All said she loved being a mother and caring for her daughter.
• An HR employee for Doss testified Frazee was listed as the beneficiary on Berreth’s life insurance. She said Berreth filed paper work to go from full-time to part-time in Nov. 2018, which is why she was losing health insurance for her and her daughter. She wasn’t going to be working the required hours.
• We also heard briefly from now-CBI Agent Chris Adams, who says they didn’t find anything in the Midway Landfill search. About a month ago, he says he learned Evraz Steel and a silver trash can became more relevant (from the burn on Frazee’s property). He didn’t elaborate further.
• A CBI serologist testified briefly about her preparation of a DNA kit of swabs taken from Berreth’s townhome. It seems like we’ll hear some of those results this afternoon.
• Judge said he and both teams of attorneys are meeting off the record in his chambers to discuss an upcoming witness. He also provided a courtesy advisory to Frazee about his right to testify if he so chooses.

Yeah, the real giveaway was how he wrote the word before each thing he had to do that day.
Who does that?
He needs to remind himself that it might not be exactly 2:30 by the time he checked on the cattle?
I'm surprised he didn't write "depending on how long the line is at Walmart."

That makes more "sense" (of the mean, sad kind!). Thanks.
Does anyone know the name of the facility she was in?

I don't understand why someone would murder someone for power, and would like to see an example. But in researching this, I find the quote: "all homicides spring from financial greed, lust, or pursuit of power". To me, homicides of financial greed and lust also involve power, but I still wonder if "power" is the single motive of a homicide. Drunk drivers probably kill 10,000 per year and doesn't make the list.
Death by drunk driving is usually classified as manslaughter rather than murder.
Ha! There are actually photos of him wearing flannel on what seems to be a regular basis.

Grey t-shirt and jeans are just his murder clothes maybe.
Flannel would be his winter wardrobe.

There was testimony in this trial from co-workers who never saw her drink even when going out to dinner.

CB I think has said in an interview that KB went to treatment for a “mineral deficiency.” I think that was the phrase she used, but I don’t have a link.

It’s hard to know. He was either a great actor, and she had little idea how he truly felt about her, and his future plans. Or, she ignored his behavior or maybe thought it would improve? Still...geez.
Also she didn't think like him,and others that were in the know, before hand. She wouldn't treat others like that. So had no idea really who his behind the persona.

From the preliminary hearing in February:

Slater said the clinic #KelseyBerreth went to was not a drug and alcohol rehab center. It was a center for anxiety and depression treatments. Kelsey was there in August of 2018. The clinic is the Nedley Clinic in CA. @KKTV11News

Well, yesterday we got resolved about the ranch hands and the fire.
Now today we try to resolve if kb's life insurance was still in effect or not... my poor brain!
So was there a 30 day grace period or are we just stuck in the Land of the Unknown again. And we hate that land!
