Found Deceased CO - Kevin Rudnicki, 20, hiker, Mount Herman, Pike National Forest, 3 Sep 2018

The DMT Nexus forums have some enlightening insight to 4 HO MET and similar drugs. The high is only supposed to last around 4 hours, but at high doses can create some intense hallucinations that sound far beyond LSD. Another thing is it is not illegal in the US, so IMO drugs may well have impacted Kevin's state of mind, but I do not think he is running/hiding from the law or individuals wishing him harm.

I do wonder if he had an account on that forum or similar forums, especially because he seemed into journalling his experiences.

I really think you need to read his document. I can tell already that Kevin's disappearance weighs on you and occupies your thoughts and time, and that document is such an important piece of the puzzle. As HGO said, please take care of yourself (stay hydrated too!). It is frustrating to be too far to help in any significant way, but we can at least help you organize your info to uncover leads or generate new ideas, or connect you with those that can help you directly.

To take you backwards a bit, was Kevin still living with his ex from May to Sept? Did he know anyone in Laramie prior to moving there? Was mom's house an open door (as in, could Kevin have moved back without issue?)

I am getting a copy of the document now. Kevin was still living with his ex (which given his unhealthy obsession over her, was a terrible idea). When he went to college in 2016, I do not think he knew anyone. I'm pretty sure he knew people when he went back in fall 2018, but I really don't know who his friends were during that year. Kevin would be allowed to move back, but he would have to pay rent if he weren't in school. That was how he lived after dropping out in January 2017 to the summer of that year.

I would make my son pay rent too as would many other parents so I don't see that as atypical.

I made a rudimentary map with the main points on it just to help zoom in on some of the points of interest. This is obviously an approximation based on Andrew's maps.
Kevin Rudnicki

From what I understand, Kevin's path to the last seen point #2 is based on his habits, trail maps and the time between when he left home round 8am and was seen at 8:45am (which answers my previous question on whether he could have started out on Mt. Herman Road and walked W/NW instead being no, not in 45 minutes)

I am compiling a summary of facts based on what we have but would like some things clarified if possible:

1. It was said early in the thread his phone last pinged at home. Did LE ever disclose if they could determine when it was turned off/lost connection?
2. How did Kevin get to Palmer Lake and how was he intending to return to Laramie?
3. When did Kevin and his ex break up? (I believe some of your posts were removed that covered this @PalmerLakeAnon as I remember things being said and can't find the quotes now)
4. Is dad involved in the case or searching at all? Where is he located?
5. Does Kevin have a CO driver's license?
6. Passport? Have LE confirmed he did not leave the country?
7. Were his FB or email records ever accessed?
8. In #240 Megan says Kevin didn't tell her he was coming home - wasn't he expected at the dinner?
9. Were cadaver dogs used at any point or just air scent?
10. How deep is the water in the creek now and has it changed much since Sept? Maybe @otto can help here.
11. Were Kevin's drawings of the Secret Underground Drug Palace found in his belongings?
12. What footwear did he have on when he left?

Some extra thoughts on things that happening around Kevin's disappearance:

Was there any tension between Kevin and New Dad? Is there any reason he may have wanted to avoid mom's wedding?

Was he enrolled for the new school year?

The summary of searches thusfar, please note if I missed anything:
LE/SAR searched daily from Sept 4 - 6, and again 8-11
Crews search for missing hiker in El Paso County
Orgs include EPC Sar, FremontSAR, DCSAR Colorado, Pike National Forest rangers/rescue, FFL helis and horses
Posters were put up along the trails

Here is some info on Colorado Forensic Canines which I am assuming has not been utilised yet and do not always require LE invitation:

He didn't tell me he was coming home. Sunday morning before my daughter's birthday our Mom told me he was home and coming to dinner that night. I tried texting and calling him during the day and in the morning before I knew he was home and he never responded.

Yes, that is something I consider a precipitating factor. Is he close with the other roomate and is that person male or female? It sounds like Kevin may have been very isolated in Laramie but unable to cut ties because of this girl if he knew he still had a home in Palmer Lake. Did he keep up with you and his friends in Palmer Lake these last couple years or become increasingly disconnected?

After spending two days looking for anything online for Kevin, I'm not finding much of anything. Did Kevin not do much online? Usually kids his age have an instagram or some such thing, but I'm not finding much of anything. If he did often post things online and there's nothing out there now, along with the deletion of almost everything off his comp, it would lead me to believe he meant to disappear.
I'm assuming classes started a couple of days after he disappeared? That would explain why he left when he did.
As for not seeing his sister, he may not have gone because he knew it would be too hard to not say something?
We need our map people to come over and take a look at the maps.

Kevin had a facebook most of his posts were deleted, but I don't think he had any other social media. He did however use 4chan and 8chan. I don't know what his user names were though. He wasn't very big on social media and was even reluctant to have a smart phone. The only reason he had one was because school required him to have some sort of university app.

He had a group of friends he would hang out with at school and a few here at home. When he was home he would often spend time here at my house with my husband and I. He did however miss our grandmother's funeral and celebration of life party in the months leading up to September.

He references the underground drug palace in his document as being on Google sketch up. I don't think his accounts have been broken into.

Everyone is Anonymous on 4chan :/ Has the detective at least tried to trace his known email addresses? I personally see enough here to make Kevin endangered missing, but that obviously doesn't help LE if they don't know what username to ask Google for.

There is one user name I know of, the one on his steam account was Skelton John.

In his document he references the dosages of drugs he was taking and they were significantly higher than a lot of the experiences I read about. He would have been having some intense hallucinations, but he was also, it seems, taking it quite frequently. He also references potentially selling the drugs in his document which is where the idea he may be running from someone or the law, partially comes from.

To add to this, he did spend an extraordinary amount of time with Jay during and after the period when they dated. The amount of time they spent together is something he admitted may have led to the break up, so it's probable he neglected let a lot of his school friendships.

What was Kevin's favorite book/movie/band?

I have read over half of the document (the part where he pretty much talks about himself). The whole thing is about his "wishes" for the alternate universe his conscience warps to after his suicide (I guess he believed that would happen...). He mentions taking a life ending drug, and also falling and breaking his head open while on a walk. I could not find any real "clues" other than that.

That must be so difficult to read. My heart goes out to you.

Has anyone been able to personally speak face-to-face with the teacher that saw and supposedly talked to him on the trail? (I might’ve missed this in earlier posts, and I apologize if I have, maybe it will help to bring to bring it forward again.)
The last person that sees a missing person may really hold a clue they don’t even know they do. In this case, a conversation with his mother and/or brother may trigger other thoughts or ideas for them.

I have spoken with her many times. We live a few blocks from each other. She has taught all of my boys. She and her husband searched with us and SAR. She said they had a great, brief conversation. He seemed happy and goal oriented. Said his plan was to work for the forrest service after college. She has stated that she has gone over and over the conversation in her head and just can't find any red flags......

@PalmerLakeAnon If I ever go missing, I hope my siblings look for me like you are looking for your brother. ❤️

I can run in-depth background checks (with law firm resources) if you ever determine that would be helpful. Wish I was close and could help search!
