That is a good question. I think only the next of kin could do that. I am admin of a large facebook hobby group and the person who founded it died, and we couldn't edit any of her rule posts and had to prove to facebook that she had died. They wanted absolute proof of her death. We didn't feel that we could bother the family, but one day, months later I logged on and facebook had messaged me and asked if I would take over the group. We don't know how that happened but think that maybe her family asked for her facebook identity to be closed.

I worked for a forensic accountant and one of the clients had a CEO that not only embezzled but also controlled the corporate Facebook account. It was months before we could regain control of the corporate account.

I keep coming back to the detail about the backpack. Perhaps she saw something she shouldn't have, and was attempting to run away and tell? Most stores in this area will not let young people enter with backpacks. School has been out for a couple of weeks. Why was she wearing a backpack to go to a store?

Pure speculation but massive amounts of evidence at the home makes me think something happened there, and there may have been...um....an extensive effort to conceal it and get her out of there. Is there anyone outside of the father/girlfriend/15 year old that claims to have seen her Wednesday? Could this have happened a day or two sooner and it wasn't reported until long after? What about the sister? Was she staying at the father's house too?

I don't think LE has stated where the massive amount of evidence came from. Just that they have a lot, could be from multiple locations.

Also I'm old and retired and I take a backpack everywhere:)

I do agree there are questions about when the family saw her last.

Was it her sister or stepsister? I thought that she only had a brother.

Does anyone have a link to the local jail? I'd like to keep an eye on arrests.

She was found in a ravine?! Angrier by the second...

I think it was more of a creek bed than a ravine. You have to remember that there is no flat land here, especially in the foothills.

I want to know the condition of the creek bed. Has anyone seen anything about that? Knowing if it was dry would be helpful.

It was reported that it did rain the evening she disappeared, so it may not have been dry when she was put there.

Here is the location she was found. You can go to satellite and see the area. As far as the condition of the creek bed, ravine, gulch all we have is neighbors account that it wasn't rushing...

...Even the open space near Trail Winds has high enough grass that it houses coyotes and foxes.

For those not in Colorado, I live in an extremely urban area and we get foxes and coyotes roaming our streets and in our yards. I live on a culdesac and our neighbor came over the other night to advise us to be careful letting our husky/Shepard mix out back because he had a coyote in his fenced in back yard. So even in our "urban" areas, wildlife is somewhat common.

And as I stated before, it is possible that a fast moving storm hit that area for about 5-10 minutes and caused quickly receding flash flooding because I was driving and that happened and my distance from where they were made sense timeline-wise.

Also, I don't think the 15-yr-old would have used rain as an excuse if there had been zero rain. I doubt she was affected by the rain but I think there was rain somewhere around there that night or he would have left that out of his story.

No explanation in the article but look under the title..."death ruled other than accidental".

http://www.thedenverchannel.com/new...as-that-of-missing-10-year-old-kiaya-campbell

"The Adams County Coroner's Office positively identified Kiaya Campbell's body on Friday afternoon. Without giving additional details, the coroner explained the death was "other than accidental."

(Just getting in and caught up, but wanted to note I can't say I recall hearing this exact phrasing from LE before in another case, "other than accidental". )

LE has now said "homicide" :(

Not disputing you as a local and your experience with the weather.

I can only mention what someone that lives on the creek, gulch, ravine what ever it is, where her body was found, said re the "flooding" of the creek behind their house.

Could it have flooded for 5 min and the neighbor didn't see, yes of course.

I guess to me now that we know its a homicide, the rain, flood or lack there of is moot. At least thats what I think.

ETA - ACK my last sentence sounds snarky, not meaning it that way:).

I have a question ? Are police able to take down someone's Facebook profile ? Or would that be up to the person to do

Sent from my SM-G920I using Tapatalk

We've seen many a perp's Facebook page suddenly go poof following an arrest (example Jesse Speer, Ariel Castro...), so I think LE has contacted FB in the past to take it down for whatever reasons (evidence, etc...)...and/or maybe Facebook also does this themselves when a perp's page starts getting negative comments ("murderer", etc.). So, I would say yes. We do also know they request warrants for SM re: user data, etc. Moo.

Another local here- I have to say, I have been a member on this site for years (Kyron Horman brought me here) and I'm amazed by how many posters live so close to me! I live about 2 miles west of where she left, and my mom lives about 4 blocks south of where she was found. (121st and Holly) Like others, I can guarantee you that there was no flash flood that swept her away. I have seen torrential rains sweep through here only a time or two in the past, and that area has proper drainage and did not result in flooding. Also, both myself and my mother did not get any real rain that night until it was long past dark, after 10. So if she was walking in BETWEEN my mother and I (which she was) there is little possibility she got hit by a ton of rain and neither I nor my mother did.

I would like to think this is a case of her just playing by the drainage ditch and falling in, and her "friend" covering up for fear he'd be disciplined for not keeping a closer eye on her, but sadly, that's not what my gut tells me. I just wish the police would give us more info. Should the parents in the area be concerned about a random murderer of young girls on the loose??? I mean, seriously. I have an 8 year old and a 13 year old and my 13 year old often hangs out on the trail that connects between my home and Eastlake. Obviously, I will not be allowing her to do that now until I know for sure the person responsible for this is behind bars (assuming there is a crime here)

The other questions I have, and I don't know if it's just shaky reporting or what, but everything I've read says "Campbell was first reported missing just before midnight by her sister, according to Thornton Police spokesperson Matt Barnes. She lives in Montbello, and was in the area visiting her father". How old is her sister? Was her sister visiting the father at the same time? Actually, is the reference to Montbello in reference to the sister or to Kiaya? Did she know how to swim? They sure are leaving a lot of detail out, no?

I too am surprised at all the locals here, especially since I haven't seen some of you guys in NOCO (which is still unsolved btw, 2 years later :( ). Glad to see everyone here!

I think we have an idea of where this case is likely going; however if there's one thing I've learned on WS, prepare to be surprised, one does not always know how a case will turn out, and sometimes there are crazy coincidences, twists and turns, etc.. Again, the direction here seems likely, but ftr, maaaaaybe he did run ahead of her, and some creepo snatched her. Just sayin. And if this is the case then we've all got a problem here, again. I doubt this though, specially since they may have collected significant evidence from the home, but since we are discussing possibilities, it is one that might as well be mentioned.

I too anticipate an arrest soon, (but I've learned not to get my expectations up no matter how many agencies are working the case, cough, NOCO, Abby and Libby....). It does seem LE is working it 100 percent though!!
