CO CO - Kimberly Thompson, 35, went missing while moving from Denver to Willoughby, Ohio, 10 Aug 2024

It also seems expensive (in both time and money) compared to just flying:

(An idea of fares between DEN and CLE, vs the bus route you link, which mentions a price of $277. From Google Flights:

I won't fly (irrational fear lol), so that doesn't seem so strange to me - also, moving home when you're 35 is pretty common for my generation. I do wonder what the cause of the move is though - relationship started/ended, sick parent, lost housing for whatever reason, etc. What stands out to me is that she essentially has zero social media presence.

So she is from AZ, not CO. And has family in OH.

She has a certain…innocence…in her face, imo. I do hope she is okay.

Eta: I found a woman with her name and age who has a criminal record in Oregon, but I am not certain it’s her, so I am not linking. If it is her, I feel foolish for my “innocence” comment, lol!
Yes, an 'innocent' looking face can hide alot! ;)

hmmm... lots of stops.... 2 days
Why would she take a bus for almost $300 when she could fly for less than $50 one way (even with added fees it would still be about $100 and the trip would take hours not days, https://flights.flyfrontier.com/en/flights-from-denver-to-cleveland
(1) afraid of flying? possible, my brother would drive days to avoid flying
(2) Traveling with things she can't take through TSA (I'm not saying necessarily illegal things, but some people ( such as cosmetologists, artists, engineers, etc.) use components, paints, liquids, and such in their work that can't be put in checked baggage due to flammability.
(3) not eager to get there? Delaying tactic?

I would say 1 and 2, or health issues, or someone else eg her mother, booked and paid the bus for her.
Yet, it is not clear if she boarded any bus at all. I suppose LE checked. If she boarded a bus, she could be anywhere.

Amanda Berry is actually saying that Kimberly took the bus and they hope she made it to OH but they don’t know:

If Kimberly took the bus, she may be at any of the foreseen stops

no ID or active warrants?

I’m not sure if it’s relevant here, but I’d just like to add that it is not uncommon for LE to provide a courtesy ride to an adult to a train station. This type of thing might happen on the heels of an arrest/evaluation/hospital stay until the patient is stabilized. A discharge plan would be developed, and a family member might have been identified by a patient so that they can avoid further detention. The patient would approve the discharge plan, then abscond. HIPPA would prevent LE from providing personal medical details in the missing person report.

I wonder what was taking her to Willoughby? When I got a job as a corporate pilot in Ohio after my airline went into backruptcy, I lived in an apartment in Willoughby my first year there. It's a nice, quiet little community, low crime, easy access to the freeway, but there aren't a lot of big businesses in the immediate area, most people living there, worked in or closer to Cleveland. Was she from the area? New job? Family there? Not a lot of information to go on, unfortunately.
In the link from the Ohio AG, she was traveling by bus. Idk if anyone has been paying attention, but from Ohio through 7-8 other states, rest stops and bus stops in this day an age is the perfect breeding ground for the long haul truck drivers who haven't been caught yet that are known serials killers. My biggest fear is she was targeted by one and that is why no one can find her because these vile folks kidnap, carry the person across state lines, rape & murder/torture then murder, take the body across another state line to dump the body along with any evidence, then keep traveling to their next destination. Her body is most likely been dumped 2-3 states away my guess.

Active warrants aren't checked when a flight is booked. Sadly, it's often not checked even when a person is taken off of a flight for violating some of the more popular regulations regarding smoking, drinking alcohol you snuck on board and too much of it, or interfereing with a crewmember's safety duties. Some officers might check of the violation was agregious, but it's not standard procedure from my own experience.

I have not been on a Greyhound bus in.... uh... tens of years. I do not actually remember even having stops when I was on one. Does the driver pay attention if people do not get back on? Since her trip was 2 days and lots of stops, I imagine people get off to buy food and maybe use a "real" rest room. Would anyone notice if she disappeared at a stop and did not continue on?

No, they wouldn't notice (kids they notice, adults they don't) and depending on what states they had to stop along the way for those going to other destinations with transfer buses to their destinations, she could have had to take a transfer bus for all we know to get to Ohio. Which is the perfect time to evade or get kidnapped easily.

I hope she does have a phone that pinged somewhere, and that LE is not reporting about it on purpose not to hamper the investigation. In some instances though, I’ve seen warrants refused because adults have the right to go missing and to privacy. Unless they suspect fool play and have elements to corroborate it.
But the lack of information is flabbergasting.

It is possible that she has lost her ID and had been unable to replace it prior to making this trip. While you cannot board a plane without ID, there are ways of "identifying" yourself in order to board a bus. Not saying this is what happened, just suggesting it as a possibility for why she might take the bus vs. plane. There's also the possibility that she's just simply afraid to fly.

Or maybe never knew it was possible to fly cheaper than ride. I didn't know sometimes it could be cheaper to buy a plane ticket than to go Greyhound.

Kimberly’s NamUs:

On August 10, 2024 Kimberly was on her way from Colorado supposed to be heading to Willoughby Ohio where she was going to reside with family. She hasn't been seen or heard from since August 10, 2024.
