GUILTY CO - Kristine Kirk, 44, murdered during 911 call, Denver, 14 April 2014

Did any of y'all see Nancy Grace's coverage of this case? She made the marijuana completely culpable and didn't blame the husband at all. Pretty much setting up his defense. She was talking about what a wonderful person he was, totally out of his character, took one bite of the pot brownie and he went out of his mind.

I'm taking a wild guess here and betting Nancy Grace is against marijuana being legalized.

Yes and her rant was crazy. Weed does not make a wonderful person become a killer. Maybe a combination of drugs. But I'm betting he was never a wonderful person.

I know people who have smoked weed for years and none of them ever been violent. Lazy maybe.

From the above link-

Toxicology test later revealed that a small amount of THC, the active ingredient in marijuana, was in Kirk's system that night, Bisgard said. There were no traces of prescription drugs or alcohol.

http://www.thedenverchannel.com/new...de-payroll-changes-before-wifes-death11252014

Investigators say just weeks before Richard Kirk shot and killed his wife while allegedly hallucinating after eating marijuana-laced candy, he changed his payroll deposit from a joint account to a personal account...

A friend of Richard's told police that Mr. Kirk called him a month before the homicide and asked if he could stay at his house for a while "because he was having a hard time with Kris." The friend told him "no."

Police also interviewed the victim's sister. She provided them with a transcript of a conversation she had with Kristine on March 6. Police reviewed the transcript and noted that Kristine Kirk told her sister she and her husband were "fighting bad" and "not talking right now." Mrs. Kirk also stated that she was worried about money because Mr. Kirk was holding onto his bonus pay.

This could be just a made up defense, like the twinkie defense.Unless there are other ingredients in the edibles like in bath salts or synthetic pot (spice).

He knew enough to unlock his gun.I say he planned the murder and is using the pot as an excuse. JMO.

What a load of rubbish! People don't hallucinate on a small amount of cannabis. He changed financial details before the killing? There's the motive.

Agreed. I don't buy it in the least. IME People who have had too much weed fall asleep. There is a lack of energy. I hope the pro-cannabis community gets involved in debunking this.

Yep- he planned this. He wanted out without any penalty, like many husbands/ dads.

The sons of a woman shot to death in 2014 have filed what appears to be the country's first wrongful death lawsuit against the recreational marijuana industry.

The lawsuit claims that the company that made the marijuana edible and the store that sold the candy to Richard Kirk recklessly and purposefully failed to warn him about the bite-sized candy's potency and side effects — including hallucinations and other psychotic behaviors.

Seriously. I've had plenty of professional and personal experience with marijuana in many forms (oil, edible, various smoking techniques). Never encountered much rage with those. Alcohol yes. Weed no. I suppose it's possible he has some sort of paradoxical reaction but I think they're trying to use marijuana as a scapegoat.
