Unidentified White Male Baby

• The victim was discovered on March 24, 1966 in unincorporated Jefferson County, Colorado
• Estimated Date of Death: It appeared that the body had been there for two or three days.

Vital Statistics

• Estimated age: Newborn
• Distinguishing Characteristics: Hair color unknown
• Clothing: The baby was wrapped in a blue cloth with a flower print. Also found in the cloth was a pattern piece for a "Simplicity" pattern for a doll dress.
• DNA: Not available

Case History
On March 24, 1966, a man out on a drive located a male baby wrapped in blue cloth.
The man had stopped in a pull out two miles south of Simms on Alameda and saw the baby down an embankment.
The newborn baby was determined to have been full term, and had died of exposure.
The umbilical cord was still attached and had not been tied and had been torn from the placenta. The mother might have suffered from uterine bleeding following the birth.

He was 6 pounds and 19 inches long. He had been dead about 2 days.
It appears that it was not one piece of cloth wrapped around the baby, but three pieces of cotton cloth with the same blue flower pattern. The pattern found in the cloth was for an 11 1/2 inch doll.
DNA is not available because samples were not taken before the body was buried.

The doll pattern is interesting to me. A possible Home-Ec assignment? A teenager who hid her pregnancy well?

There is nothing more sad than the infant John and Jane does that were found before Roe Vs. Wade. I don't believe that this will be solved because I don't believe anyone is looking for this poor baby.

This would be a good case for Barbara Rae Venter to investigate. I've seen a lot of infant doe cases solved recently.
