If one walks 4 mph, 15 min mile, times 14 hours, that's 56 miles, so it appears doable. Including sleep time, moo.

Updated article says, "In fact, Madeline hitched a ride in the back of a family friend’s car. The sheriff’s office tweeted Friday afternoon that the girl hid in the back of the car and left after the friend had parked the car for the night."
