News Release:
Arrest Made in Burlington Child Abuse/Sex Assault Investigation
(September 17, 2018—CBI—Lakewood, CO)—A Colorado man has been arrested in connection with an alleged child abuse and child sex assault occurring in Burlington, Colorado, on Saturday, September 15, 2018.
A female juvenile was taken to the Kit Carson Health Service District Hospital in Burlington with extensive injuries on Saturday evening. The juvenile was later transported to Children’s Hospital in Aurora for continued treatment. Her condition is not known at this time, but it is believed her injuries are not life-threatening at this point.
Agents with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI), in conjunction with the Burlington Police Department and 13th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, investigated the incident in the late evening hours of Saturday into Sunday morning to locate the suspect who had fled the area.
Cole Price (DOB: 03/09/1990) was taken into custody without incident by officers with the Garden City Police Department in Garden City, Kansas, just before noon on Sunday, September 16, 2018.
Price faces charges of assault in the first degree, sexual assault on a child, sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust, and child abuse, all class three felonies.
He is being held at the Finney County Sheriff's Office (FCSO) Jail in Kansas without bond, and awaits extradition to Colorado.
Because of the nature of the crime, the location of the incident and details about the female victim are not available at this time.
The investigation continues.
