Police: Thanks and appreciation to first responders from other agencies who helped with this tragic situation.

Thank you all...this just wasn't expected here. I just don't understand why someone would do this to people just shopping, I was trying to go to a nearby store at the time and was so confused as to what was going on. I think I'm in shock a bit. I think all my friends are ok fortunately, but I feel so sad for those that lost their lives and their families. So tired of these mass shootings, so senseless.

This is quite a bit to process, and it’s impossible to make sense of a senseless act like this. Please go easy with yourself, our prayers are with you and all who have been impacted by this tragedy.

I was right outside the store when people started running towards me. People were on the ground. we could not help. I feel so sad

I'm so sorry you had to go through this. Please take care of yourself and make sure you have someone to talk to about it. You can share here.

Watching on tv and following on the police scanner, LE did a tremendous job. They had a very quick response time, were on the scene in minutes. As the situation evolved, they adapted, got things under control, coordinated all the other LE agencies that arrived to help. Very smooth, fast and effective. Great work.

Police Chief Maris Harold spoke first, she was very emotional, catching her breath as she spoke about the toll of this horrific act.
10 dead, including Officer Eric Talley, 51, joined the Boulder PD in 2010.
He was the first officer on the scene.

They are still working to identify all the victims. How agonizing for the families who are waiting to hear. They will be working through the night to do this, and continue the investigation, with the full weight of local, state and federal authorities.

Next presser will be tomorrow morning, but BPD will tweet a picture of Officer Eric Talley who died in the line of duty today.

When l heard about a active shooter inside a King Soopers in Boulder, immediately l thought of my cousin’s husband, a sheriff with Boulder county. I believe he would’ve responded to the call. My understanding one officer was killed. I haven’t heard if he was injured. Five civilians were also shot and killed . This is so horrific for the victims and their families. My mother is from this small college town, included having my brother graduated from the university in Colorado in Boulder. I grow up feeling this was a safe town. Today l realize no place is safe, even in a small town like this.
What possessed a individual to killed so many? This loss of life from a madman. Breaks my heart!
