family is searching in the Walsenburg area since Sunday for 34-year-old Micahel Anthony Sanchez, who has been missing since Saturday night.

Sanchez is 5'10, 210 pounds with black hair.

He was wearing a red shirt, grey sweater, blue jeans and black shoes when he was last seen.

Bernadette Sisneros and her family searched near the Anchor motel off of Main Street in Walsenburg on Friday.

"It's scary, no one wants to find their nephew dead. It's very very hard. We don't want that. We want him home. We want him home safe," Sisneros said.

Sisneros said she fears he might be dead, and she heard a tip that he was in the area under a bridge in Walsenburg. After days of searching, his family and friends have not found him.

The sheriff's office has very little information, so they are now treating his disappearance as a crime in case it turns out to be one. The sheriff's office confirmed with 11 News the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is getting involved in the case.

Nothing in that article answered my question. I’m curious why they automatically assumed he was dead right away. They didn’t skip a beat to think he may have gone off on his own, or that there was an accident, etc. I wonder if there was evidence that pointed to an obvious crime.

Bumping for Michael now three years missing.

His NamUs page has been removed.

Apparently they found his remains in 2021 but it took until 2023 to confirm it was him via DNA. It seems like the police still think it may be foul play but they couldn’t find evidence of violence during the autopsy. Nothing in the news since that I’ve found.
