How about attempted murder?

JMO, IMO, and all other disclaimers.

The poor child was found wearing only a diaper and temperatures were between 34°-48°.

Following... looks like Thurman is NOT in the court site - so she might have gotten off of the charges -

article on their hearing 12/26/24 - which explains how the baby got into the median.

The Colorado parents accused of abandoning their 6-week-old baby in a car seat wearing only a diaper on a median on Christmas appeared in court on Thursday.

In court, Adams County Judge Jacque Lyn Russell said 33-year-old Christina Thurman was a "danger to your son -- both physical and emotional danger to your son." Thurman and her boyfriend, 42-year-old Jarvis Sims, are facing child abuse charges after Sims allegedly left their baby boy on the median in Adams County near 7490 Pecos Street, just north of Highway 36 and close to Denver's northern city limits.
[.....]
Thurman and Sims are both being held on a $50,000 bond. Neither have been formally charged, but deputies are recommending charges of misdemeanor child abuse and felony child abuse. They're due back in court Monday [12/30/24] for a formal return filing of charges and both have been instructed to have no contact with the child.

Colorado judge calls mother accused of leaving baby in median on Christmas a "danger to your son"

They were lucky someone was there to grab the baby and call police.
I am glad that despite the witness's own legal issues and fear of being involved they got that child to safety and made sure LE were notified. Even tho it was hard to do the right thing they got it done.

If I had spelled her name correctly - I would have posted this earlier...

Two people have been arrested & are facing charges of felony child abuse after a one-month-old baby was discovered in the median of a Colorado road Christmas morning. The Adams County Sheriff's Office said the baby was left sitting in a car seat in the median near 7490 Pecos Street wearing only a diaper. Authorities said they received a 911 call around 9:30 a.m. Christmas morning from someone who discovered the abandoned baby. A social worker is with the baby at Children's Hospital Colorado, where he is under observation as a precaution. Authorities said they don't yet know when he was left in the median, and the baby had no visible injuries. The sheriff's department provided an update around 4:30 p.m. thanking the public for helping to locate the baby's family. Just after 8:30 p.m., the sheriff's office announced they had arrested the child's parents, Jarvis Sims & Christina Thurman. Both are facing felony child abuse charges in connection with the case. Sims and Thurman are due in court Thursday morning, 12/26/24.

IMO, the baby should be adopted out ASAP. Whether the mother put the baby out or not is immaterial. She didn't protect her child in the moment nor from drugs.
I think so, too. And, then, I think both biological parents should be fixed because neither one is parent material.

Cocaine in a 6-week-old's urine? Unbelievable. And, her family saying they knew the baby's mother would return if she knew he left the baby out there? What the heck? She saw him do it and she walked away because she didn't want "conflict."

Mothers don't walk away. Period.

Jarvis Sims and Christina Thurman, the parents of an infant boy who was left in a car seat on the median of a busy street Christmas morning, were charged with misdemeanor child abuse and reckless endangerment Monday in Adams County court.

Sims, 42, who has been held in the Adams County jail since the child was found, was given a $2,500 cash/surety bond on the condition that his sobriety is monitored.

He faces an extra misdemeanor charge of a violation of a protective order.
[.....]
The original suggested counts for both parents were for felony child abuse, but those charges were reduced by the 17th Judicial District Attorney's Office.
[.....]
The next appearance for Sims and Thurman is scheduled for Feb. 7 in Adams County.

Another article I found said the baby's name is X <mod note - starts with X>

They both have a hearing on the temporary custody of children on 12/31, but I am not going to keep track of that one - just the criminal cases.
Also the info I posted earlier for Sims was for another one of his cases which I will not be following. That is the one with a trial coming up in March.

Yeah. I don't know anything about the rescuer, but that person is 100% better than the parents. Waive their criminal issues for saving this baby on Christmas.
