Another pregnant mother, liveS extinguished. I will have to pull up the link regarding the laws for this state and post once I catch my breath. Tiffanie Adams also lost her life and was near her due date.

We just received word that Erica Crippen (Crosby), who just had her second child, was murdered as well. They charged her husband with her murder but she hasn't been found yet.

What in the :censored: is going on here? No respect for the circle of life! I understand DV/IPV is a complex issue, but will never understand how any "man" can harm a woman with child. :moo:

Mama JoJo...IPV stands for intimate partner violence. I know I'm not Kimi (no one could compare!) but I was gonna comment on this case too. I am so sad and frustrated to continue seeing young mothers and babies killed. It is ridiculous. I so hope they find this man quickly and punish him to the fullest. Now her two other children don't have a mom or dad. And this unborn baby never had a chance to know life. My anger mirrors yours, Kimi.

Fetal Homicide State Laws

Colorado:

Colo. Rev. Stat. §18-1.3-401 (13) specifies that a court shall sentence a defendant convicted of committing specified offenses against a pregnant woman, if the defendant knew or reasonably should have known that the victim was pregnant, to a term of at least the midpoint, but not more than twice the maximum, of the presumptive range for the punishment of the offense.

Colo. Rev. Stat. §18-1.3-501 (6) establishes that a court shall sentence a defendant convicted of assault in the third degree to a term of imprisonment of at least six months, but not longer than the maximum sentence authorized for the offense, if the victim of the assault was a pregnant woman and the defendant knew or should have known that the victim was pregnant.
Colo. Rev. Stat. §18-1.3-1201 defines aggravating factors in the sentence of death or life imprisonment. The law defines the intentional killing of a pregnant woman with the knowledge that she was pregnant as an aggravating factor.

In recent years, the term Intimate Partner Violence has become synonymous with Domestic Violence, as it describes the dynamic between intimate partners regardless of either partner's gender, sexual orientation, or marital status.

My guess is maybe she was concealed, like in the walls or floor?

You can hide a body by site but not from scent, LE would have found her just from openning the door.

She was reported missing on 1/5/15------she was found IN THE APARTMENT she lived in, on 1/13/15. That is 8 days from the time the missing persons report was filed until they opened up her front door and found her lying dead and murdered inside her own apartment.

Could they not enter the apartment if it was locked ? Is this a matter of legalities that tied the hands of the PD ?

8 days........that boyfriend of hers could be just about anywhere by now.

It mentions that on January 9th detectives from the Pueblo Police Dept. Special Victims Section began a missing persons investigation,
and part of that investigation, a search warrant was obtained for the residence that she shared with Joseph Romero, which was conducted on January 12th.
I am wondering if she was last seen on the 5th but not reported missing until the 9th, when she didn't pick up her children, and missed that medical appointment as well.

That is my guess.

I witnessed a DV across the street from my house once. I called PD. The couple went back inside their house. A few minutes later the cops got there and I told them what happened and what I saw. They went up and knocked on the door but no answer. I told them I SAW them go in, I KNOW they're in there and he explained all that crap about rights and all that bologna. That they can't just break into someone's house based on what I say.

Two weeks later the exact same thing happened, except this time while we were all standing in the street and the cops were just about back into the squad we hear glass break and a scream. Since the cops heard it themselves they were legally able to go break the door in.

So, IMO, it all depends on the circumstances. IMO, I don't think they had, on that day, reason to believe a crime had been committed inside, but something changed later.

I am wondering when did the children last see their mom?
Did the children live with Phenia full time?
If the children last saw their mom on the 5th, maybe their grandmother takes care of them through the week?
Maybe Phenia was going to see them on Friday and have them for the weekend, but she didn't pick up the children from school,
so therefore somebody knew something was wrong at that point.
Did Phenia live with the boyfriend and her 2 children?
Or did the children live with their grandmother?
All questions that could point to why Phenia was last seen on the 5th, but not reported missing until the 9th, in my opinion.
Or she was last seen on the 5th, BUT she wasn't missing until something happened to her, which could have happened
on the 9th.
IMOO.

Keep in mind, during the entire time that all of these people were being interviewed, the cops, the neighbor, the relatives....she was lying up in her apartment dead. They even did a screen shot of her apartment...I don't get it.

They rent this place, they don't own it. Why couldn't they have had the manager unlock the door so they could do a welfare check ?


If it was my daughter that was missing, I would just kick the door down and see what the hell was going on inside of those living quarters....go ahead and ticket me for trespassing.

Horrible. She suffered without a doubt. This makes me sick!

Prayers for her children that must now find a way to go on without her. This is beyond tragic.

Good find. This young girl had no idea what type of man she was involved with, and if she did, it was due to the "gangster" lifestyle he led. I doubt if it was because he was a smooth talking, caring individual.
