The one tattoo on her face says ‘The love of my life, Luis’ and it disgusts me. When I saw his name tattooed all over her face I immediately thought it was his way of branding her, controlling her and making sure that any other man who looked at her for the rest of her life would see his name. He considered her his property and wanted to prevent her from ever being free of him, even if she did eventually find the strength to physically leave.
I’m so sorry for her and this baby. I’m sure she loved him and he was likely very manipulative. Men like this don’t show their dark sides until they’ve already wooed their partners and assured themselves of their partners loyalty. It’s sickening.
I hope that someone somewhere will read this tragic story and realize that they’re in a dangerous relationship and get out. Permanently. MOO

Thanks for sharing this info, something I know through work, but not commonly known. I'm less concerned with trafficking in this case due to her age (the average trafficking victim is a young teen and she's almost 30, old by trafficking standards), but more concerned as to possible domestic violence. I hope she and her baby found a safe place to go.

true but i feel like super abusive men can also force their victim into this. sad all around for this mother and her unborn

A bail of $10,000 was set by visiting Judge Stephen Sletta for the violation of a protection order charge and bail was denied for the second-degree murder charge, which 6th Judicial District Attorney Christian Champagne said would be amended to first-degree murder.

Colorado family of murdered Indigenous woman Nikki Burch-Woodhull say she was victim of domestic violence

A Colorado family in Ignacio is hurting after the unthinkable happened to their relative who was a mother, daughter and sister.

Burch-Woodhull had tattoos on her face with the name "Luis," but her family said those tattoos weren't her choice.

"It was more his ideas. It's not tattoos she wanted or liked," said RT. "I see people will comment on it, and they don't understand the concept of domestic violence."

On Nov. 27, 2022, Julian’s seventh day on the job, Raeanna “Nikki” Burch-Woodhull was reported missing to the Southern Ute Indian Tribe in southwest Colorado near Durango. 

Burch-Woodhull, who was in the second trimester of pregnancy, was later found dead. She had two children and grew up on the Southern Ute Reservation, according to news reports. A man from Ignacio, Colo., was arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder a week later.

Julian, who was meeting with tribal officials on the nearby Ute Mountain Ute Reservation at the time, worked with community members in his role as liaison during the initial investigation. Within his first 40 days, the office helped with seven other missing persons or homicide cases, Julian said.

“It’s very urgent to me. It’s the passion of my life and my career to be helping victims of these types of crimes,” Julian said. “I’ve worked in different tribes, and we’ve done many things to… bring some kind of conclusion for the family.”
