exactly, this happened close to home for me and Colorado is really hit by the bad economy right now and for this clown to call, the FAA, then the media, THEN 911, well it smells hinky to me.

This man is full of drama, He came out told reporters to put their questions in a box and he would be back later. Said it wasn't a hoax. Nothing else.

I'd love to see Drama Dad put in a box - in particular, one with bars on it and a slot in the door for all his meals...IMO, he's at least guilty of filing a false police report, and in a larger sense, he's guilty of being a grossly irresponsible parent and an overall douche-y human being. :loser:

Exactly. And if they get away with it unscathed, some morons will say hey let's try that - and here we go. As someone said yesterday, for example, a girl was hit and killed by a firetruck rushing to respond to a "fire" that turned out to be a prank call.

This just blows.

Also, I still think it's hinky that the dad stopped the kid's demonstration of how he got himself hoisted into the attic. The sheriff said that he, "almost got there.. and it looked like he could have." Well, why not let him then, Dad? B/c as someone mentioned, it takes some upper body strength to boost yourself that last little bit even if he COULD climb "almost" there - actually getting up and into the attic is a whole "nother" thing imo. I keep saying this but, I totally call BS like the rest of you. Also Dad wont let the kid give a complete answer without interrupting the child after that cat-outta-the-bag, "for the show" comment slipped out. Why not let the kid talk if it's all on the up and up as Dad claims? Hmmmm

The father himself has alerted the media. It has been reported the family called the local news station even before calling 911, supposedly to get a helicopter.

He probably knew where his son was the whole time. The only reason he was freaking out was because he was worried about his precious balloon. But you can't send off a balloon of that size without some sorta approval, at least to my knowledge. I noticed in the family video after the balloon was taking off he got all pissed off and he kicked something. I still think he's trying to cover his a$#.

The article in your link says the container below was for equipment. How much space does the equipment take, and how much room is left there for a child to hide in? The equipment would have been high voltage?
How would someone hide in there and not be electrocuted?

Well, obviously the family is tired of all the TV interviews. And the kid was seen puking on TV, so they need time off. Obviously.

I hope LE took photos of that place where the kid supposedly got himself into the attic. I'm wondering if that alone could prove something if the kid cant get himself up there by himself. If they leave the place without photos, Richard can rearrange it such that Falcon has something else to climb on in case they ask him to actually get in the attic to prove how he did it.

Also, if the kids had snacks up there, they'll now have time to clean up the crumbs.

This blows.

Also... I dont know how severe or legit the "damage" is to the wheat crop, but if there is any at all - these people should pay for it imo.

"The infamously boy-less balloon caused even more trouble than we thought on Thursday -- because its landing also wreaked havoc on a valuable wheat crop desperately needed by a local family.

TMZ spoke with Doug and Joanna Abbott who told us their 300-acre wheat crop was destroyed mostly by emergency vehicles racing across their field to chase the balloon -- which also caused its fair share of damage.

The couple tells TMZ: "It does make you wonder what kind of attention the family was after by using this little boy."

Sadly, we're told the field only produces a crop of wheat once every two years, which means the couple will have to wait two more years to see the full fruit of their labors ... all because of some giant empty (publicity stunt) balloon.

We asked if the couple would be considering their legal options -- but they wouldn't say. "

The department had planned to speak to the family today, but decided to give their officers the weekend off. However, Eloise Campanella, Larimer County Sheriff's Officer spokeswoman, tells TMZ they will be keeping an eye on Richard Heene's question box press conference scheduled for later tonight.

The presser should begin around 6:30 PM PT/9:30 PM ET -- and we'll be there live. Stay tuned ...

Also, so unless Dad inserts foot tonight in the box presser, LE is going to wait until Monday. Great. Time to rehearse and let shyster Jr practice hoisting himself into the attic. OK that's unfair; I shouldn't call him, "shyster Jr" b/c I'm sure the kid didn't have a choice.

Another odd bit, Dad was told to ask the kid on LKL, "Did you hear us yelling for you?" Falcon says, "Yes." The parents look all shocked and bewildered and say, "What? You did??? " - all surprised - as if that's the first they've heard of it.

Wouldn't you think that if this were real, the first question you'd ask the kid is, "Didnt you hear us screaming for you?" since they did yell for him in the garage and he was only in the attic. (and hence LKL wouldnt be the first they hear of it.)

Sorry, I am not trying to be self righteous, but I don't watch reality TV -- none of them -- never did. They are lazy entertainment and have pretty much killed TV. The networks love them because they are cheap to produce, require no writers, no creativity, no actors, no sets, nothing but people acting ridiculous. And we have, indeed, created more than a few reality stars and reality star wannabes that think they are so interesting, so attractive, so hip, so desirable that everyone must want to spend all their time watching them do absolutely nothing.

I can't tell if this is some hoax or just parents acting stupid. This father is a piece of work. The fact he pulled these kids from interview to interview demonstrates what a slime he is -- and all while his youngest is ill and obvioiusly stressed out. He is suffering from a serious case of arrested development. The kids are faultless to me -- the product of this dysfunctional home.

Even if the sheriff questions him, I don't think anything will come out of it. For instance, the sheriff claims the child is so hyperactive, so he couldn't be made to sit in the attic for five hours as a part of some hoax. Well, the child did sit in the attic for hours.
So apparently the sheriff thinks no one can make the child to sit in the attic for five hours, but he would sit in there voluntarily?
Does that logic makes much sense?
