Found Deceased CO - Saza Lee, 54, didn’t return from bike ride, Longmont, 10 Sep 2021

Im sure some of this information will come out with a news report after the investigation but these are some thoughts ive had.
1.) If he had been out there several months the body would have decomposed quite a bit. It seems they were able to identify him fairly quick. Im curious if he was found with some identifying factors. Such as his phone, bike or some form of identification.
2.) The area was searched many times where he was found was not far off the trail. How was he found and how was he missed before if this area had been combed through?
3.) I would think as gross as this may be an odor would be coming to the trail. Maybe its all coincidence he was just missed several times but it makes me think IMO he could have been alive all this time and recently passed due to cold weather?
I have those same questions. There were MANY searches, per the FB page, of the trail. And yet he was still missed? I notice he is still listed in NAMUS as missing.

Evidently they have not identified the remains yet according to the Longmont Leader. I could imagine this taking a while depending on the condition of his remains. However there's just too many missing details. It's sort of odd IMO.

Just looking at that on Reddit
Sad

Hello everyone.....

It is with a broken heart that I tell you all that Saza's body was found yesterday by someone walking along the bike path. He was found 50 feet off of the path near the river. He was near County Rd 1 by the Visitors Center and bridge. It appears that he may have taken his own life but per his beautiful wife Bobbie, the Coroner had not released his body yet.

Thank you all for your help, your thoughts, your ideas. I know it has meant so much to Bobbie to know that people who don't even know them stepped in to help. Please continue to pray for Bobbie and her daughter Caitlyn. They truly can use all of the love and prayers that we can give them!
I'm just seeing this very sad update now. Thank you @JEM1975 for letting us know. I'm heartbroken for Bobbie and Caitlyn and of course Saza. They will be in my prays and may Saza rest peacefully.

The area off trail is fenced and some of it is private land. I wonder if searchers went beyond the fences? I jogged right near where people say he was found. Lots of families out there in fall for family photos. I can see nobody finding him though, you’d have to jump the tall wire fence and walk through really tall grasses. There are rattle and bull snakes back in there

I walked this path several times myself. The area he was found now has tire tracks throughout the dirt and grass and does not have a fence it's also pretty open. There is kind of a ditch type area and then goes slightly downhill. This area is one of the best spots in the park to see the mountains and the river that runs through.

If there's a low area like a ditch, that could conceal a body pretty effectively, especially if there is tall grass.

In grass, you have to be right on top of something before you see it. I remember walking across fields like that and falling flat on my face because I tripped over a log that I didn't see until after I caught my foot on it. It was a big log, too, at least as big as a body.

I wish I could post the picture! I'm not sure what this area looked like when he disappeared because I never really paid that much attention but the grass was kind of flat at the time he was found. I also heard rumors they were searching in the water which would have made sense of why nobody would have seen him. IMO. Another thing to note is the news articles have been very careful to report "a body was found." To me that means he was fully intact and not decomposed yet. Otherwise I would think IMO they'd say skeletal remains or just remains were found. Just some thoughts on this odd case...

I thought of Saza Lee today and googled to see if there was any new updates in the news. I came across this:
Boulder County Coroner autopsy determines Saza Lee died by suicide

But this is strange:
At the time that he went missing, Lee had been expressing suicidal ideation, according to the report.

A gunshot wound was located on the back of Lee’s head, the report said. At the time that he was discovered, his body had moderately decomposed.
On the back of his head!? Whaaa?

No matter what, what a terrible end Saza had. :(
