UPDATE 3:00pm 6/17/20 - Sebastian Rodriguez Castro Search

River levels dropped today, which allowed crews from
Greater Eagle Fire Protection District to get back into the river. Water clarity was excellent, which benefited search efforts. High winds prevented drone deployment, and aircraft were not available. Unfortunately, the water search did not locate Sebastian or uncover any additional information that points to his whereabouts.

This will be the last daily post. After today, information will only be provided if there are significant developments.
Investigators continue to work with the family and to follow up on any and all leads. Anyone with information that may help in locating Sebastian is asked to call the non-emergency number for Vail Public Safety Communications Center at (970) 479-2200.

I wil

l listen to it later tonight to confirm. That makes more sense. It was 3:30 am when I was listening to it so it sounded to me like Costco ending in o not a.
Hello All,

The dad clearly says the shoe was located at Costco distance.

Also wanted to add:

-Mom took Sebastian and his cousin for a walk by the train tracks then by Red Canyon Cafe and to Primavera Liquors,Inc and back (that’s at least a 40 min. walk round trip). See map below. Then we know they went to the playground.

-When Sebastian used to climb out of the gate, he used to run into the laundry facility and then to Red Canyon Townhomes.

-The Speech app was an app that teaches austictic kids how to speak. Again, he’s not autistic. Just couldn’t hear but got an operation and can now hear. The app was $15 a month but got it for free after the mom canceled the free trial and they contacted the mom saying they liked Sebastian and wanted to help him.

-The phone found was his Mom’s and it was found by his nephew on Sunday. Dad thinks it was planted as he looked everywhere plus drones, tracking dogs, LE, volunteers, etc.

If he fell in at night, Because of how high the tide was, the force of the water could have taken his body miles away and his body could have gotten stuck along the way. He could be way further than anyone is looking.

Or, it could be foul play and he never fell into the river and could be dead somewhere else. Or, he could have been abducted like his father is claiming.

If he feels the phone was planted there, cant they trace its movements in that area from the day he vanished up until the day it was found?

Only if it was on. Most apps have geolocation services installed in them.

Is there any CCTV footage to back up mum’s version of events? Was Sebastian even there? Did he reach home? Did the witness see the cousin in the playground?

Everything I read indicates this little guy is autistic and nonverbal and his phone and an article of clothing was found in the river. The phone was found in the river near the path behind his apartment and the article of clothing downstream from the apartment. I can't even put much stock in the father's information because I don't know where he is getting information from. I can't find anything that says a shoe was found at Cosco. The little guy must be in river. I don't know if they will ever find him but I hope they do so family can have closure.

An article of clothing can mean a shoe. He said it was found at Costco distance from the apartment. So I think he meant downstream.
And why wouldn’t you believe his own father? He lives in the apartment with Sebastian’s mom and his nephew was the one that found the phone. So he knows first hand the exact location of where it was found. Look at the first YouTube video he’s pointing the location where the phone was found.

The dad said there was only one camera pointing at the playground. There were none pointing towards the water. But I’m sure there must be other cameras around town that must have captured Mom’s earlier walk.

Why wouldn't I believe the father ? Where is the father getting his information from ? One of the search teams ? The fire Department ? Why would these agencies be looking for a nonverbal autistic child if the child had a hearing problem but it was fixed surgically ? Was the information translated to the father by someone ? Maybe in translation it comes out differently.

The OP pointed out where the information came from. The Father's nephew found the phone?

I could argue the same point in reverse. What if the information the parents related to the police got lost in translation?

Let me correct that. Mon took Sebastion and his cousin for a walk by the train tracks and by the Red Canyon Cafe and to Primavera Liquors. It also mention Costco. I looked up Cosco on. Google Earth. There is a Costco store on the way to but not in the exact location of Primavera Liquors.

What time did they leave for the walk?

Costco appears to be quite a walk from the apartment. An hour and a half walking distance - one way. Along US-6.

Guessing that’s not a busy road.

On the return, the liquor store then Red Canyon Cafe. I would think you would stop by those places on your return home.
Sounds like Primavera Liquor was the destination?

And they didn’t go to the apartment to drop off what they bought but went to the playground?

How about camera footage from any of those places?

That's possible too Janeumayer.

Whats with the sneaker at Costco?
I think the sneaker at Costco is supposed to be at Costa. Costa means coast in Spanish, so it appears the sneaker was found in the river (costa).
