This case is sad enough but it's even sadder because I can see it's going to be another Jodi Arias blame the victim case. That poor woman's reputation is going to be dragged through the mud. I find it sickening and I'm not sure I will even be able to follow this case.

Yes. I had the saying "For Travis Alexander. A victim." In my signature with a ribbon for him for years as a result of that travesty of a case.

I stupidly became a lawyer because I believe in justice (and logic). But the court system allowed that monster to revictimize Travis and his poor family, over and over and over. With disgusting claims of DV by Travis even though it was clear SHE had been stalking and harassing him. With use of an expert with an agenda who hates men and believes only women can be victims of DV. With even disgusting claims that Travis was a pedophile.

It was sickening. Not justice at all. And his poor family had to sit there silently, day after day and listen to her slanderous lies. Even after she was found guilty she was allowed to stalk back and forth in front of the jury box and audience and continue to grind her victim's name in the mud, holding up a shirt about domestic violence and claiming to be battered. It was horrific. His family barely survived it.

I do not believe Shannan's poor father and brother will survive the same.

I believe in a robust defense. I believe in due process. I'm happy we aren't Iran.

But I also believe American citizens and jurors have an obligation to learn how to apply logic. And I believe that allowing defendants almost the final word, with cruel and baseless allegations during sentencing hearings, is disgusting.

This defense is as laughable as that one was. But she did avoid the death penalty.

Wouldn't it be nice if either SW or CW's employer purchased the home, demolished it and created a playground or garden oasis with benches and memorials for SW, BW, CW, and NW.

I can't imagine anyone wanting to live in the home due to the horrors that happened inside.

It was noted, in the News, here where I live, 'Properties where a Murder has occurred', sell at FAR lower prices.
Surely, with all the publicity, the same would occur if this home, went for sale,

Thank you

Thank you. Most of it hurts deeply to read just knowing this is reality and she is gone. Some of it is near unbearable. I am here though because I needed a place to talk and think this out myself as well and I can't talk to our friends because everyone is just hurting so immensely. I want to try and be as objective as possible and unemotional to try and work through it like everyone else.

Big hugs to you, Isalybra. I am so very sorry for your loss. I hope becoming a member of this community is helpful to you as work your way through the grieving process.

Would love to see a poll on how many people think it was planned or happened in an instant that night.

I just can’t wrap my mind around CW believing that his mistress is going to go “oh your family disappeared? Come live happily ever after with me!” I can’t believe he would think that.
That is the impression I got from him during his interview. It was almost *shrug* they are missing and I don't know where they are but if they come back....*shrug*
Almost as though he thought it would all go away and he could move on sooner rather than later.IMO

I keep thinking about that $1500 HOA lawsuit. People using it as evidence that they were financially in trouble.

Sheriff delivered a summons to our house last week for an $800 bill. We're going to court over it. It isn't that we can't pay it, it's that legally we (and our attorney) don't believe we should have to. We've been fighting it for a year now.

I've been with everyone else about the HOA. I just got to thinking about it today

Isalybra,

If I can help in any possible way, please send me an inbox message and I will happily oblige. You are most definitely in the right place for support. I think I can speak for everyone when I say that while we all love to poke and prod into true crime, it is never our wish to do it at the expense of family and friends. I know I personally wish to instead offer my assistance in helping you to rebuild and move forward.

It may have not even been for that mistress, but so he could be single and carefree and date again.

I can't believe anyone would, but apparently Scott Peterson thought it would work. That case was getting national attention and he was STILL lying to her.

I agree. He showed no hint of sadness for his girls as he gave interview after interview on the porch. If he had snapped and lost his mind he wouldn't snap back out of it that quickly and if he thought he was sparing them he would still miss them and have an unbelievable hole in his heart.

But none of that showed.

All he showed as far as emotion was some fear response. Maybe a bit of emotion when he said and spelled his kids' names (hard swallow). But nothing like any human being who really loved his kids would show, knowing they had been killed a couple days prior.

The aftermath of the killings shows the reality of what happened. Both his demeanor and thehorriifc allegations against the wife he murdered. He is cold and calculating. And cruel. Much more so than I initially thought.

However if they were a loving couple like the verified poster said and it appears on SM, HOW, HOW can he have just become so cold and calculating? This is what I can’t understand

He did just finish experiencing 5 weeks of this very lifestyle so it isn't that hard of sell to think maybe he wanted more.

The mask fell off.

IMO I don't think it was necessarily that particular mistress he was killing his family off for. This particular mistress might have give him the idea and the feeling of what it would be like to be family free.
He could have easily have got a new mistress once the focus of his missing family has died down. Luckily SW friend put the end to that by being so intuitive.

Appearances don't tell the whole story.

This is true. Back where I used to live there was a case involving a triple-homicide and rape of an underage girl. (It was the case that got me on Websleuths) The house where the murders occurred sat empty for a long time. There was a lot of blood staining/damage due to the murders/dismemberments. Nobody wanted to buy that house. So Habitat For Humanity stepped in and did work to the house and moved a family in a couple years later. I don't know if the same people still live there or not. But, it certainly didn't sell.

Then why not disappear and change your identity? He could have left before they returned and been long gone.
