Pardon the interruption: Were there members here who supported Casey Anthony , Scott Peterson & Jody Arias during their trials ? I was not a member here then.

It mystifies me seeing People support CW. I just can't imagine.
It’s actually allowed since CW said that SW killed the girls. It will keep going unless proven otherwise unfortunately.

It may be allowed but that does not make it any more palatable.

Hmmmm....

Bad reporting, or a leak??

I’m going to go with taking liberties, at this moment.

I can’t imagine he used a gun. He couldn’t even hide her purse so we know he didn’t clean up blood or tissue.

Maybe he just used it to threaten her with?

But ya, I think it's just poor reporting made to be more dramatic (as if this case needs that). Moo.

I just need to remind everyone: you do not have to be a mother (or a father) to understand and be devastated by the depravity of this case, from the murders to the method of disposal in crude oil. Please be kind when commenting and remember that many of us love children deeply even if we are unable to have our own, and don’t assume empathy is something you only acquire as a parent (“You’re obviously not a mother” or anything re: the capacity of jurors based on whether or not they have kids).

THIS! Eloquent and spot on. I have shed tears over this family (and Dieter) despite not having children. You should see the burial my gerbils got. No one with an ounce of decency can get past the oil part of this awful tragedy. There's a reason 'actions speak louder than words' is a saying!

<modsnip>

Did you think of any other cases where innocent parents threw their babies away like garbage instead of calling the police and giving them a proper burial, even though they didn’t kill them?

I think that it came from that misunderstanding of the form statement of evidence that mention guns casings and shells.

Quick question on instruction of juries @gitana1

If this happens in the UK, it must also happen in the US:

Our UK juries are directed by the Judge at the end of trial. This "summing-up" presents the law and a summary of the evidence in such a way as best to enable the jury to reach a just conclusion as well as basic legal principles such as " beyond reasonable doubt" and the standard of proof needed ( cause obviously Joe Public is not expected to u'stand burden of proof issues, )

They can also be given written instructions and in some cases have been known to be given almost flow charts with writtenquestions for the jurists in complex cases. ie. If you find x, then you must convict on y, z.

Good morning,

So I had some thoughts again last night as I was falling asleep...

Travis Forbes, the dirtbag who killed Kenia M, agreed to reveal her location to LE under one condition: that they would drop the rape charges in order that he not be labeled a sex offender in prison. This was his biggest concern.

Thinking along these lines, CW has admitted to killing SW but says that she is the one who killed the kids. Maybe there is a similarity to Travis Forbes here, he knows he is likely going to prison, but doesn’t want to be labeled a child killer in prison.

Additionally as mentioned, he might not want his own parents to think he killed the kids.[/QUOT
I don’t believe we have any evidence that CW killed the children. We also don’t have any evidence that SW killed them. But I believe the jury will be presented with a lot to bring reasonable doubt into question. IMO[/QU

They refer to it as his work truck, so I assume it is company owned, but I didn’t see any sort of logos.

I want to know if the neighbor’s security camera ever caught him backing that truck into his garage to load stuff up before work, prior to this.
iirc neighbor(s) said he never or didn't usually leave so early.

The harsh reality is people abuse and kill their children and spouses everyday all the time. The reason I think the fascination with this case is they were so normal on the outside. They were living the American "Dream" get married, buy a house, have kids. It's hard for us to reconcile the evil because a lot of us can see ourselves in them. These other people who kill usually have some signs before hand, they were drug addicts, alcoholics, abused as children, had prior criminal history etc. but CW and SW so far have none of that the only known thing is he was having an affair and killed his family. Why, we will probably never know unless there are clues on cell phones and computers. He will never admit to the crimes against his children.

And then it comes out, despite his lies to the contrary, that he is indeed involved in an extra marital affair.

Actively involved.

Regarding a discussion in yesterday’s thread about the timeline and him digging the grave, have any of you ever buried a pet in your backyard? Years ago, we had a tiny 5 lb toy poodle pass away and we dug a shallow grave next to our shed. It took a WHILE, even though it was not very big, and we were all dirty and sweaty. IMO he would not have had time to put the girls in different tanks AND dig the grave AND make it to work between 5-8AM with a 40 min drive on top of it! Some of this had to be done in advance IMO.

This is partly why I also think the girls were already gone when SW came home. I can't even get around to planting small bushes. Digging holes is not like it is in the movies. It's incredibly physical and time consuming. We buried my medium sized dog and it took forever. But we did it with love and grief and completed this all in one go.

To those who've had to lay their babies to rest, my heart hurts for you all.

Thank you to the Watt's friend, Isalybra, for your insights. I'm so sorry for your loss. This is a loss that will be felt for a long time.

Not the cases you cite but years ago there used to be another forum that I frequented called CrimeNews2000 which was a forum such as this but they also had a weekly Monday night chat with the regulars that followed the Martha Moxley investigation. To our surprise the DEFENSE attorney was a frequent visitor to those chats and to his benefit actually identified himself to make his prescence known. It is a long story but many were invested in this case and there were several people who "appeared" with curiously knowledgable insight into the inner workings of the Skakel family even creating their own websites stating Skakel was innocent.

So to answer your question is it common to have people take the side of the accused, yes it is. At least in the Moxley case there was a THREAD of reasonable doubt if someone was desperately searching for a reason to let Michael Skakel walk. To date this case doesn't have it. Defense has their work cut out for them. IMO the only way is to make wild accusations against SW which can and will be negated by a long list of people she knows getting on thestand to testify none of it was anything they ever witnessed Shannan do or say. It won't work, not in this case with this woman.

A friend/neighbor of W family took it in temporarily until a
related family member could take it. Sounded like it was going
to be OK.

Yes, I understand it's allowed.

I'm curious if the others I mentioned in my post had supporters, as CW does.

IIRC women write to Scott Petersen all the time, proposing marriage and sending stuff. I remember JA got lots of money put into her commissary account from men who thought she was pretty.

JA had supporters but they were not allowed to post here badmouthing the victim just because the defendant said she too was a victim. I’m honestly not sure how this case is different. CW essentially is saying he killed his wife to stop what she was doing, he was defending the kids. So he is allowed to have people here saying mean things about Shanann with zero facts to back it up. JA said she was defending herself. But nobody was ever allowed to post here defending her position and saying bad things about Travis and his friends or family.

I guess the one bright spot in this horrific situation.
