I agree 100%. I don't think it was in his "plans" for her friend to appear at his door. IF my spouse and children were missing, work would be the least of my worries. And instead of accepting interview after interview -I would be out physically SEARCHING for my family. Nothing he did makes sense. He isn't a good liar, and IMO he is going to have a HARD time getting a jury to believe ALL of his lies.
Once all the evidence comes out I think his attorney's may recommend that he takes a plea.

I wonder if it really didn't work (it's possible, of course!) or it it was a lie to stall LE from entering the house without him

I got the impression that the code only worked for him! Also, LE avoided the question how they entered the garage when CW got home. I also wondered if CW had changed the garage code so that NAU could not enter. (NAU had code to front door). So many questions...

Yes because when days are spent during a trial on all the horrible things he did (IMO), like throwing little pigtailed girls into toxic oil, there's no way a jury will give him the benefit of the doubt that he was doing it all to save the reputation of his wife or that he was going into hour 3 or 4 of "sudden rage". It's just beyond gruesome and cruel to do that to human beings that you supposedly loved. A plea deal will keep him off the streets for the rest of his life, just that Colorado residents get to pay for his room board, and medical care while he reads & rereads the adulation mail from the sycophants.

It is remarkable to me how isolated CW obviously was. He faced the news camaras alone on Tuesday, a day after his family died and he disposed of the bodies in a remote location. From what I can tell, the only family member that flew in to be with him was his father, who didn't arrive until Wednesday morning---more than 48 hours after the loss of his family.

What a tragic figure.

Good observations. Although, who knows what he did and who he was with when he wasn’t on camera or before Wednesday morning. We know he stayed with friends on Tuesday night.

And I was thinking of this theory today. MAYBE the idea of protecting someone's reputation after death works, but I don't think it does in this case.

Maybe if the couple had been married for 50+ years and the husband truly and deeply loved his wife more than anything else on earth. He might want to protect her reputation out of tenderness or to protect their children's memory of their mother. Doesn't fit with this case.

Maybe if the wife had made huge accomplishments in life and the husband didn't want to tarnish them. But, honestly, SW was an ordinary person. She was loved, she was driven, she was admired, but none of that is an image you need to go to such extreme measures to protect after she died.

Maybe you'd protect the wife if she were standing trial for the children's murders. Maybe a husband would sacrifice himself for her sake and cover up her crime. But he didn't do that - he killed her.

I just don't see the motivation in this case to protect a woman after her death. And he didn't protect her - he killed her and buried her and pretended he didn't know where she was.

jmopinion.

This is a GREAT post! And I agree. To be honest, he was never protecting his wife or children, he was covering his own butt. I seriously think he might have gotten away with this IF her friend hadn't called LE. IMO he would have went back and moved SWs body -and people "might" have believed she really just vanished.

That, and I found it so weird that he didn’t put all three in an oil tank, while he was at it. I mean, he was already being a sicko, why not finish? I wonder if maybe he noticed someone on the property and had to just get out of there, fast? Because honestly those oil tanks were a super good hiding place. Had he been a better liar and took some additional precautions, this would have been a really tough case to solve.

The whole thing is very weird. How drastic his actions, and how fast his confession, and how sloppy the deed. It’s like he just totally and completely cracked up.

My guess is after carrying each of his girls up and dumping them in the tank, he was too worn out and got lazy with SW. Or he felt he was running out of time. We don't know how much of a grave the "shallow grave" was. It's possible he just threw some dirt over her and didn't dig much of a hole at all.

One would think that your outrage over someone murdering your daughters would trump any feelings of protecting anybody's reputation. This whole case is so bizarre. IMO that is the only excuse left that he could think of to avoid taking blame for outright murdering his family.

Does anyone else find it strange NU May have had a key to the house?
Nah. a friend as a key to mine, just in case of emergency. I trust her.

Two theories have been put forward for this. One that he disposed of them to protect her reputation and the other is that he feared he would be blamed.
Neither, IMO is valid.

Just catching up on this case. Maybe I missed it, but has anyone from his work given an interview of substance to the media? Anyone describing his demeanor at work after he killed his family? This is a strange case.

I think they would have eventually got him. Even if he got rid of her vehicle and other belongs. My reason for this is because he is so narcissistic that he wouldn't try to hard to hide he moved on already. JMO of course. I feel like in his interview he was already celebrating his freedom from marriage and parenting. MOO That grin was relief and he knew damn well they wouldn't be coming back and that's why he grinned because he was day dreaming of his future of freedom. Luckily good prevails over evil. He sent 4 angels up to make sure he wouldn't get away with it. MOO IMO JMO

Exactly. He was so angry with her that he killed her, but he loves her so much that he covered her crime. Very strong emotions, going from extreme to extreme. Yet, we don't see any emotion in him except pleasure when looking at his t-shirt.

Betcha they scrubbed everything he touched in their house. Imagine having him in the house and they have a little kid the same age as the ones (IMO) he murdered.

Actually that made me laugh. I know the code to our garage door but it's fickle and I can't get the stupid thing to work for me. My husband never has a problem with it lol.

That said... it's possible about him changing the code, but I still don't think he expected NAU to show up that day.

Keyless entry. She had the door code. Not strange as she was close friend and also business associate.

If this was just about CW and Shanaan it would be bad enough and there would be questions about her life, etc. But to kill your children! Ugh, no excuse. And even the child she was carrying....for me this was a live human being too. He killed four people, not three. This is Scott Peterson on steroids!

I'm with #3. BUT, I'm biased, so... I haven't given my thoughts because I actually knew SW, through SM for many years. Pre CW.

Hi BB, welcome to WS
I appreciate that you say SM but did you two meet in real life ?

She seemed like a very joyful and effervescent person and I heard her on SM say how much she loved Colorado but do you remember why she moved to colorado from NC, considering both families were back in NC?

BBM. And I don't know why he wouldn't expect that. They were close and kept in contact with each other.
