Decor aside, I wonder how they could have qualified for a house like that with only his income at first. Was she working when they bought it? I thought that was the only home they had owned in Colorado. If you notice on the deed it was him only at first. We have DR Horton homes in this state. I have heard people say that they bend the rules a bit and that’s why so many of that builders homes go into foreclosure. People get over their heads with payments. I don’t know but a large home usually has higher utilities too. It seems to me that they had champagne taste and beer bottle finances. JMO
Someone posted a real estate site of CW's neighbourhood, the homes are currently selling for around $450,000-$500,000, that isn't much at all, it isn't an expensive area by any means, just imagine how much they bought it for several years ago, not much I'd say. Very nice homes but it's the area that pushes the price up. JMO

Frederick, CO Homes For Sale

Looking at homes in this link, some are even under $400,000!

Yeah, and it also says this: “A source close the investigation tells PEOPLE that Chris has had relationships with both men and women outside of his marriage. PEOPLE could not immediately reach the man who spoke to HLN on Wednesday.”

To believe or not to believe, that is the question.
Sigh...poor family..

Why would she have to pay him?
I can't speak for CO, but in NC if parents have joint custody, the spouse who earns more pays the other child support, even though the children are shared roughly 50/50

This is amazing to me having had some experience with this type of sales albeit many, many decades ago. It was standard practice at Mary Kay for the director of the team to absorb all commissions from those they recruited that fell ill or quit.

* That they did not do this in SW's case tells me that either her recruiter is a phenemonal person that is willing to forgo her commissions out of respect for SW and her family so set it up that way.

* That the company itself thought so much of SW that they set it up this way themselves. Since she was featured in an article in their inhouse magazine this May it is clear she was a rising star within the company and a person to watch for. They do tend to focus on the "movers and shakers" because they are great for business so it would be no surprise that the higher ups thought well of her.

Either way it appears her character played a massive role in the decision to set her commissions up this way because this is NOT standard practice under the circumstances. I am totally blown away that they did this and it is a credit to them for making this happen.

I am also happy for Shannan's family that they were considered here. I realize they would much prefer having SW alive and well with them but since that can not happen ever again, it is still a nice way to let her family know she was admired and important to them. :)
Or if you were a cynic..........SW has a LOT of FB video promotions which are getting a lot of views. So could be with all the attention this case is getting not too bad for business j/s MOO

When I Googled "Chris Watts" "Trent Bolte", a link came up:

Man claiming to be Chris Watts' lover speaks out - KRDO
https://www.krdo.com/news/man-claiming-to-be-chris-watts-lover.../787902822
1 hour ago - After doing some digging on various social media accounts, we found the anonymous person claiming to be Watts' lover is Trent Bolte.

...and now the page is gone.

Interesting.

I'm possibly leaning towards SW finding something (AB) on his phone, as another poster mentioned or on his computer. That would certainly cause an emotional discussion. Maybe she found lots of stuff even! If that was the case then I would think he killed SW before the children and the children were killed once he decided on the story of maybe SW left or someone is harming them or whatever......but in his mind he had to place them as having left together.

You'd think he'd kill the lover.
His demeanor after killing his wife and children made me wonder if he had killed before. I just can't imagine carrying on as if everything is fine unless you had done it before. JMO

Maybe I’m paranoid, but whenever I hear of spouses having multiple relationships outside the marriage, I start getting a little creeped out at the idea of possible diseases being brought back to the spouse still at home. I wonder if they test for that stuff during autopsies. Although she was pregnant, so I guess they would have checked for a lot of that stuff for the pregnancy, anyway. Unless maybe they did find something, and that’s how she found out about him messing around.....who knows.

Nah. He was way too stupid for this one. If he had done it before, he would have been caught awfully fast, and wouldn’t have had the chance to do it again.

I find it odd that we don't really know much about CW before this. You'd think old g/f's would be coming out of the woodwork, but nothing, just a couple of old school friends.

According to all the Thrivers, Shanann was making the big bucks, so she would have had to pay him.

I doubt it. I have someone close to me who went through a nasty divorce, and his wife made, seriously, six figure big bucks, and she was able to manipulate things to where she hardly had to pay him anything. Long story. But it’s not that easy. And probably “big bucks” for Thrive is the equivalent of a regular part time job.

What's interesting is that most people who supposedly fall within the antisocial personality disorder umbrella have a history of criminal activity, violence toward others, job instability, and unstable relationships.

But many sociopaths blend in well. The just become sales people or politicians. Super good at mimicry, b.s. and being charming, but utterly without ethics.

All I know is family annihilators typically have no criminal or mental health history and are thought of as solid, good fathers and husbands - family men before the shocking crime.
I totally agree. I find it annoying when articles are written by journos sensationalising sociopaths/psychopaths as having great qualities. It's by their actions that determines a sociopath/psychopath, not by their thoughts. Pop quizzes aren't diagnostic tools but can be a guide, helpful and fun.

Sociopaths/psychopaths are known for saying one thing and doing another, and the other is breaking moral/legal boundaries like, conning elderly people out of their life savings, using a co-worker to do their work and then, take the credit. JMO

So now when I thought the thread was finally calming down fromdisgusting and baseless allegations like "she killed her kids because her eyes look crazy", now we are going to: She had a major, intensively horrible personality disorder because she has a lot of product and/or clothes in her closet?

Wth is happening here?

Its baseless and thus victim bashing IMO.

Borderline personality disorder is no joke. It is characterized by a pervasive inability to function in the world and have normal relationships with anyone. Characteristics include:

1. Fear of abandonment
2. Insecure identity.
3. Intensive and disruptive interpersonal relationships
4. Impulsivity including drug and alcohol abuse, promiscuity, gambling, spending.
5. Suicidal ideation/gestures/self harm
6. Emotional lability/mood instability. Can't self regulate emotion. Over sensitive.
7. Chronic feelings of emptiness
8. Intensive displays of rage
9. Paranoia/intensive and/or disassociation. Seems like psychosis. Breaks off from reality.

A lot of Lululemon in someone's closet just means she got snookered into another MLM that has "sales people" spend their own money on inventory they never can hope to actually sell.

You know I'm sure SW was not a perfect person. Few (except my mother) are. She surely had flaws. Maybe tried to portray perfection too much. I don't know.

But it seems nasty and ugly to make baseless allegations against her. For what purpose? Is the inference that his ridiculous story may be true? Or is it that she asked for it?

Gosh I don't like this.

She was innocent. No matter what imperfections she had she did not do anything to merit being murdered.

I could understand if people were discussing the possible pressures in the marriage. Or even whether there were any signs that one could look to to possibly state she may have had psych issues, if exploring the validity of CW's ridiculous story.

But to simply make an allegation like that as if it's fact? Based on a closet?

Wth?
I had a sister in law with BPD, she can't keep relationships with anyone. Every time her children get close to someone she moves and keeps them away. It really is horrible.

The alleged gay lover seemed to have been kind of angry that he felt like he was dating a “free man” and complained that he felt lied to when CW ended up having a wife and daughter.

These interviews seem like a bit of revenge, to me. Not saying there’s anything wrong with it. But if CW wanted all this kept quiet, he’s certainly not getting what he wanted.

I know a man who did that. A doctor no less, who somehow managed it so that he was employed by his next wife's company and was paid unbelievably small wage. It was so blatantly false I could not believe the judge let it pass.

Yes is this unusual for the US?

Everyone staying so quiet? Both familes too and CW friends.
In the UK everyone pretty much stays quiet until after conviction - so can be a long period of silence. Didn't think it was the same in US? Thoughts?

True. I just can't imagine being so cold.

As always pages behind. Addressing the neatness vs sloppiness of anyone as a "mental disorder" is just, well, nuts.
The proclivity to be super clean or to be very messy can give professionals a glimpse in extreme cases.
In general, I think it's foolish to attempt to classify anyone without having spent at least several hours with them. In person.
Forensic psychiatry can help also. But we have no ideal of any real evidence that SW suffered from any DSM related diagnoses do we?
{I am a very eclectic person w/way too much stuff but I know where all of my "hoard" is. I also continually give more away than I keep. Just saying...}
ETA link with description (just wikipedia ;) ) Forensic psychiatry - Wikipedia
